D23 Disneyland/DCA Predictions!

We already have a parks panel to pin our announcement hopes against - why do people feel they need a second?

DO NOT think it is parks related. The parks panel is the parks panel.
What do you think it is then? What other division would have a "secret project?" We have studios, media networks, and consumer products. It's definitely not studios. I could see a media networks presentation (new cable channel?). It's hard to think of a consumer products project Disney could be working on that would necessitate an hour long presentation.

Now that is something I would like to see! Or make Mickey's Scary Wheel the start and TL the finish.

This would be more purposeful but I think TL to Marvel Land would be cleaner. Essentially going only over two lands (helping you avoid going through another gate as well as helping you save a few steps) and the future Eastern Gateway. I don’t think I would want to see the skyway hanging over the entirety of DCA.

Actually if I was to bet I'd put my money on the second half of MCU Phase 4 and 5 announcements. There has been a big rumor that the Secret Wars story line from the comics is coming to the MCU. That could be the "Secret" project they are talking about.

Although they could make that part of the larger Disney Studios presentation, but I think Feige likes to present that stuff on his own.

Wouldn't that just say Marvel secret project then?

If I had to bet, it's some charity/community project thing.

Not necessarily, Feige reports into Alan Horn and Iger directly, not Marvel Entertainment. Plus Feige likes to throw people off the scent prior to making announcements.

Charity does also sound like a good guess.

I have no idea! But the implication that it is for the Parks specifically would mean it has to be semi substantial to break out from the main presentation?

But then it isn’t in Hall D23, so it’s not that substantial?

I said this in the main board, but the ONLY P&R related thing I could see would be a DVC project/presentation. Or some merch line or something. Things that could sustain a presentation but wouldn’t have the entire conference goers rushing to attend.

Whatever it is I have doubts that it will actually be exciting.

Well, Hall D23 is typically reserved for the big presentations with lots of reveals. If it is park related, I strongly suspect there will be very few new details. How does the capacity of Hall D23 compare to stage 28? Perhaps it's a non-DLR announcement and Disney is betting there won't be too much excitement for it in Anaheim. Of course, Hall D23 is not being used during the time of the presentation, so they could always move the presentation there if needed.

Just some ideas.

Is the fact that nothing else is scheduled in any of the other rooms at that time indicative of anything? Is it possible that whatever is announced is streamed to all the other rooms?

This is the thread of what might be announced for Disneyland/DCA at D23! Leave your predictions or what you might want to be announced at D23!

My predictions:
  • TomorrowLand Overhaul
  • Marvel Land rides/update
  • Mr. Toad replacement (I doubt this will happen but it needs to go)
  • M&MRR annoucment
  • Pixar Pier additions??(hopefully not)
  • Fantasyland expansion
  • Maybe something with Matterhorn (not sure what though haha)

what would you put in the Mr Toad building?

if it was to go the only thing they would have room for is a store or meet and greet.

that show space is small and with all the new ADA laws requiring extra space the space would become useless for a ride. Does Disneyland really need to have a ride shuttered for a meet and greet or shop?

My post is almost a year old. Mr. Toad has grown on me a lot. Im fine with now lol. Now let’s move on before everyone starts to attack me again 😉

They wouldn’t have announced M&MRR months ago if they didn’t have at least one other big announcement for DLR. So what is it? My money is on the Frozen ride/ Arendelle or the Avengers Coaster.
I won’t be surprised.
I think Tomorrowland for DL will get some announcement because if they want it done before the 70th or way before they might want to start next year. I think TL will have to be almost fully torn down as it needs help in DL.
I think the Avengers coaster will probably be there as it was pushed back for a phase 2 plan for like 2022/2023

Tomorrowland’s really not in that bad of a shape. I don’t know why people hate on it so much. I guess because it’s not on the same level as the west side of the park.
It’s not bad at all. I think it’s time for the land to head into a new direction or just make the rides/experiences better than what they are now. Every land/ride needs that push to be better after a couple of years

I agree. I don't get why people say it's awful. It's surely one of the worst lands in the park, but that doesn't say much considering it's in Disneyland. Every land is amazing.

The thing I hear about Tomorrowland a lot is there is no coherence. Which makes me wonder, what makes places like Adventureland and Fantasyland coherent if Tomorrowland isn't. I mean, Fantasyland is just a jumble of rides that fit the theme of Fantasy. There is no reasoning why Snow White (in Germany) is 50 feet away from Peter Pan (in England). So I don't get why people seem to have an issue with Star Wars being 50 feet away from Toy Story. The only IP that I feel like they have that doesn't fit Tomorrowland is Nemo, but the submarines can fit the theme of Tomorrowland. Using new technology to explore the worlds of unknown. It's really not in bad shape. Can it use some updating, definitely. But it's not necessarily bad.

I guess it comes back to why? If it is parks related and not detailed, why did it need to be broken out from the main presentation?

Since I’m being a devils advocate here it could be a partnership and the people they needed are unable to make Sunday (or already there on Saturday for the movie panel?)

Someone like James Cameron or RDJ or Kevin Feige...

But if it’s movie related parks thing they’ve often snuck that into the movie panel anyways.

Maybe someone important at Disney won't be there on Sunday? Bob Iger, for instance.

I suspect the P&R presentation will be jam-packed with info on Sunday, so maybe there just wasn't enough room? I don't know.

The massive expansion of WDI facilities at WDW (Stolport and main WDI office at Epcot) are perhaps my biggest reason to suspect this is a WDW project. The main WDI office has been expanded from roughly 20,000 sq ft to roughly 60,000 sq ft. And the Stolport expansion added another 20,000 sq ft.

It’s possible that it’s a Parks thing that’s big enough for Iger to be the one to discuss it on Saturday, but then he doesn’t want to overshadow Chapek running the parks panel on Sunday.
