So what? Are people dying? Are hospitals inundated?
Actually, Yeah, people are dying. 366 reported today nationwide, and 35 over the last week in FL. I suppose if/when it doubles or triples, that will be satisfactory enough to realize there's a problem? By the time we get to that point, it will be too late. I guess people have forgotten how this whole virus worked. Cases lead to Hospitalizations lead to Deaths.

Hospitals are not inundated in CA. But they are starting to get that way in states like MO.

And I was not the one who said they missed the shutdown. I will post Reality, and right now, the reality is that in some states, and even in parts of CA, cases are starting to rise, where they had been declining. That's simply a fact, and what it will lead to, remains to be seen.

Instead of blaming the messenger, perhaps blame should be placed on those who refuse to get vaccinated. And those who despite not being vaccinated, take advantage of the "honor system," and never wear a mask in the circumstances where they're supposed to be worn. They're the reason there's still a possibility of a resurgence.

The situation IS getting bad in some parts of the country. Missouri in particular is getting a lot of coverage right now.

I'm not going to pretend I know what the perfect solution is, but the concern in parts of the country is not overblown:

Sorry I just can’t go here again mentally. So what do you propose? Forced vaccinations? Another shut down? Lie detector tests?

Wow, it sure is surging in Missouri! Everybody's going to die!

Not criticizing your main point, but at least use a scale that doesn't flatten out the entire distribution. 😂

Cases are trending upward again but I doubt they'll reach the heights of November-January (or at least I hope not).

I follow the rules but won’t wear a mask again either so I just won’t visit LA until they drop the mandate again. The whole point of getting vaccinated was for life to get back to normal. I’ve been vaccinated since April, my life has been back to normal since April.

The irony is LA residents will just go to Vegas, Phoenix, and SoCal cities with no mask mandate so it won’t really make an impact.

I was planning a Vegas trip anyway but I better book it ASAP before prices go up

The vaccine is a step—a weapon against the virus, as are masks and social distancing. This is a very tough period we’re going through.

And is anyone surprised that cases smong the non-vaccinated are skyrocketing after the 4th of July gatherings?

The world is in flux with this thing. Every week will bring wins and losses. It’s frustrating and it sucks for the entire planet.

However you choose going forward, I wish you, your family, and everyone here good health and better days ahead.

Thank you and the same to you and your family.

At this point I think it simply comes down to a personal risk assessment, I don’t fault anyone for being cautious, I don’t fault anyone who’s fully vaccinated for living their life… the only people I fault are the people who can get vaccinated but choose not to. I won’t let them dictate how I live my life though.

I’m just praying Orange County doesn’t follow LA, we have our first Disneyland trip booked for next weekend, our first trip since the week before they closed in 2020, and I’d hate to have to postpone it. It’s been a long 502 days.

I think you can still have a good trip if the mandate stays indoor only. You’re basically just wearing it in indoor queues and shops. Still annoying to have to deal with but I don’t think it impacts the trip too much.

Yup. My wife and I went to Vegas to escape the California insanity for a while.

Sending mixed messages to people still on the fence… getting vaccinated just lost a major selling point.

I expect another huge bump of LA residents visiting Vegas starting next weekend.
Hopefully they stay there then, since the virus is surging in Nevada right now. I wonder if it has anything to do with everyone going maskless in the indoor casinos, since it's like an oven outside.

And the selling point and the "honor" system was working Soooo well.

I feel bad for all the people who complied and obeyed the government, thought this thing was behind us, only to have the government reveal that they're scum and liars. Hopefully this wakes them up. Disobedience is the only way.

There is something extra annoying/ insulting about giving us a month of oxygen only to take it away again. Honestly not sure I’ll be able to comply this time around. Especially in Summer and after I’ve gotten used to not wearing them again.
