Complained About New Parking Fees

I contacted them for this and also to complain about allowing dogs to sleep in some of the rooms - probably also in some of the beds. They will listen to your complaint and do nothing. The parking lots are not full, it is just a question of charging as much as people will pay. We are DVC members and often stay at the other hotels as well as we live in Florida. However those days are gone and on principle I will not pay the charges so this cuts down our visits to just DVC. Not that Disney cares.
Just as an FYI, DVC members are NOT being charged for parking fees as of this time. There is some discussion about if that will happen in the future. Also the dogs staying in the rooms policy is going away as of Oct so there is no concern other than Service Animals, which were always allowed in all resorts prior to that. Hope this helps!! Marie

You all do realize that if they drop the parking fees, they are just going to increase the room rates to cover the fees, right? They'll figure out what percentage of people drive, and then take the daily fee for those people and spread it out over the cost of everyone's room. So instead of people with cars paying a fee, everyone will.

I realize it makes it cheaper for you per night, but its effectively adding to the increase of rates across the board.
As it should. If you increase room rates and ticket prices by a little across the board, people won't be upset.
It's when there's a clear nickel and diming appearance that people get upset.
It's up there with being at a diner and asking what salad dressings they have. French, Italian, Russian, Blue Cheese, Thousand Island....you get the bill and find out you were charged $1 more for blue cheese.

When you're charging families, who are probably the bulk of the business for Disney vacationers, understand that families are just that and there are often agreements of what is reasonable and what is not and "What happened the last time we went?"

Personally, the dining plan is the best example for us. It used to include appetizers and desserts and the tip, Then the tip wasn't included. Then, the appetizers were removed to be just the desserts. Did the price go down? Of course not, but that's what was noticed and that's one of the factors that curbed our trips.
Had they just raised the price of the dining plan by a few bucks, and kept everything in, it would have been seen as "OK, inflation...so we save up some more and still have a nice vacation with said meals taken care of."

Instead, they did what they did, and it turned off DW, who is in integral part of any vacation planning in our family.
Now there's the parking thing. Seriously, unless we are chaperones on another band trip, there's no way I can convince DW to take another trip there for us. That nickel and diming is what sticks in her head and I don't blame her.

Disney was my favorite place to visit. But enough was enough. Went from 2 stays a year to no visits in the last few years. It isn't that I can't afford it, I just didn't find the value in the resort and did not like the direction the company was going.

I still check in here to stay in touch with what's going on and am sad to see that it's just gotten worse.

That's an interesting idea, although I'm not sure the records are always the correct address. For instance, Peyton Manning's political donation forms list his agent's office as his address for purposes of the contribution.

EDIT: Bob's all seem to list either the Studio or a PO Box in Saratoga Springs NY.

2ND EDIT: He lives at 15 Oakmont Dr in LA. If you jump to page 66 in this document from when he assisted in the preservation of a neighboring house you will see that both he and Willow Bay are listed at this address. http://clkrep.lacity.org/onlinedocs/2014/14-0143_misc_01-30-14.pdf By "preserving" the house he was conveniently able to stop a new 23,000 sq home from replacing the 4,000 sq home. I'm sure his only concern was the architecture.
Good catch...
Then everyone should address their complaint to Bob at, 15 Oakmont Drive, Los Angeles CA 90049

Nothing better than letting the big cheese know when there is a problem and the more people that let them know the more likely they are to get tired of hearing about it and actually do something.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
When a penny costs one and a half cents to make.....Loonies and toonies....(My wife is from Toronto). Yeah baffles the mind.
Well then, you already know that Canadians ditched pennies years ago for this very reason.

Much like parking fees, even with the rounding up/rounding down scenario, it’s always the Average Joe who is getting ripped off.

Yeah we are members at BLT and that's pretty much where we always stay but we also always fly too. So the parking rates don't really effect us personally but I'm still irritated for all the people it DOES effect and could see it really taking a lot of the magic out of trips for people from just being so aggravated about it. We take 3 trips per year but for some it's a once in a lifetime trip and I always hate to hear from people who felt their experienced was cheapened (ironically) by the constant charges and fees and price gouging. I'd say I honestly hear more people complain about prices for things than even crowd levels.

Nuisance fees are just that, like parking meters in a city. While great cash grabs for the authority running them are a hassle for the consumer. Parking is consistently given as reason why people don’t go to the city where I live, couple this with there is no need to when everything ”needed” is in the burbs.

Not exactly the same thing as a Disney vacation but there are parallels.

Disney target customer are not APs, day park people or even DVC. Yes that APs and the DVCs assure some steady revenue (relatively speaking) but that’s not who they are chasing after.

Who they really want?

* a family of 4 in the top three quartiles of income.
* relatively price insensitive.
* flying in, not driving.
* not using discounts.
* staying on prem at a moderate or higher.
* paying cash

This isn’t in all inclusive but Disney want this type of customer over all others. Easier from the logistics side and even better if they are repeat customers; probably less likely to have demands than say an AP holder.

This is not to say they ignore the other customers, far from it, but any smart business is always looking for their repeat, most affluent customers.

Agree...but the deluxe prices have had a different dynamic.

Have you noticed that the monorail line has had a significant amount of DVC conversions?

Why is that?

Depends what your point is, genuinely.

The only room conversions on the monorail were at the Poly.

I don’t know what the rationale there was, but I’m guessing that if those rooms were always fully booked before, they would have looked at building new rather than converting rooms. Ditto at WL with Copper Creek.

As to why there is DVC at every monorail Resort, well they’re at every deluxe resort.

They do contribute towards the monorail, just as Riviera will contribute to the gondolas.

Stating verbally that you "dislike" the fee accomplishes nothing. Not giving them money and making sure that they know that the reason is because of it... will give it a much stronger message.

lol now how come when I say that people get mad at me!!
that's the bottom line with all these complaints lately. It's extremely simple. Disney will change ONLY when it effects the bottom line. folks here complain about it not being like "the good ole days" and they hate this and they hate that yet still give the mouse world their money.
LOL,

There may be discussion, but there shouldn’t be! :banghead: They cannot charge us for parking. Thanks to timeshare laws in Florida I believe. So unless Disney is going to try and lobby for a change in the law, it won’t happen.

Bay lake was a room conversion as well...just on a bigger scale. And wilderness lodge represents a MAJOR room conversion. In sake of fairness...you kinda have to group them with the other MK hotels. The monorail itself is not the driver people think it is.

There’s DVC at all (save yacht technically) for several reasons:

1. Maintenance cost reduction/offset
2. Guaranteed occupancy from a higher income/spending set

But #3 is a big one:

3. Falling deluxe occupancy do to pricing.

Converting the poly is a big warning sign...the poly is beloved and if they casually took a couple of hindered rooms out - instead of adding a DVC structure - it’s becuswe they couldn’t fill them based on projections.

The occupancy at wilderness started reportedly dipping down to the 50-60% rants at times. 90% is normal, standard and insisted upon. Do you know anyone staying at wilderness that didn’t adore it? Few people...

The only reasonable answer - Sherlock Holmes style - is that price and client erosion is the culprit. In essence: hitting the high water mark. It was going to happen.

You can even argue that Caribbean is same...can’t sell that place at $350 a night longterm and fill 2000 rooms daily...so you relabel it and try to suck the OKW and Saratogas over. That’s how that’s gonna play.

I’d bet my quarter to your nickel ( or whatever currency) that one of the next 2 DVC “exciting additions” will be grand Floridian conversions. Don’t rule that out at Beach club either.

Like it or not....”location, location, location” isn’t a blank check. In the end, it’s drywall with old scenery outside. That will intensify if they start charging fees for everything...and that’s a given. It pushes people to DVC which will justify more conversions.

My very unscientific poll (question on this forum) so far reports 30% of people don't drive off site, 32% drive off site 1 -2 times. Is it really a case of not wanting people to drive or just a no cost cash grab ---you decide

It never was to stop travel...they don’t care. Just like Home Depot and Lowe’s are near always across the street...any tourism Time/dollars spent are ultimately good for Disney. Typically...people tend to stay longer or spend harder in shorter time.

The boogie man of “they’re trying to seize your car!” Has been assumed the “reason” for near every pricing move in 20 years.
But it never has been.

It’s about monetizing a dirt cheap resource (mission:accomplished) and softening expectations to grease the skids for more fees (again...mission:accomplished)
