The Epcot Manifesto
Original Poster
I'm not going to lie, I bought all three shirts this morning and I don't feel bad at all about it. I loved Horizons.
If they just flat out sold a shirt with the logo for the 3 different places on the front (especially Sea Castle, I LOVED that part of the ride), I'd buy them in a second.

This to me seems a bit strange...Why Celebrate an attraction when they tore it down? They never even did one for the Imagination Pavilion and that one is still up.

You can also go to Mouse Street USA And get these shirts..

That Figment one is awesome. You sell these?
I'd like to know the same :)

Thanks for the compliments, both of you. You made me smile this evening.

Alas no, i do not sell these as they take some time to create.
I have painted a series of them over the years to wear specifically to the Parks, and elsewhere.

It began some time ago when i wanted specific characters or Park related attraction t-shirts and there were none to be had.
I started making my own, and it grew into a fun little hobby.
They are hand drawn/inked onto the fabric, and then hand painted over the course of three to four days.
Hard to put a 'price' on that...probably would be too expensive a price tag considering the labor involved.

The retro-Figment design i painted specifically to wear for EPCOT's 25th Anniversary bash back in 2007.
The 'gem pavilion' Horizons one i painted this past summer to wear to Disneyland for Horizons' 30th. The copper colored, metallic paint looks even better in person.
The tan 'Horizons Icon' one i have had for even longer...i think i painted it back in 2005 to wear around and show some love for the ol' concept.

Thanks again for the compliments!

After they run out of apparel ideas for the anniversaries of defunct rides, they'll have us buying things for rides that were never built. I've already pre-ordered my Western River Expedition thong and my good version of Kali River Rapids socks.
I put in my order for the Beastly Kingdomme polo with matching windbreaker. I was told they were on backorder and they didn't know when I may receive them. When exactly is half past never? ;)

It seems like the link to the shirts doesn't work anymore, and searching for Horizons brings up nothing.

On a side, if Epcot were to bring back Horizons, just think of the good news stories it would garner. As long as it would stay relatively true to the original masterpiece, then they would have a hit.

I'll throw this out there: Assume Horizons has received an update to the animatronics and the video screens and Mission: SPACE was built elsewhere. Where would Horizons rank in popularity at Epcot today? My guess: 4th behind Soarin, Test Track, and SSE.
With the current unfinished state that SSE is in, I might put "the refurbed Horizons" in 3rd. The giant screens, along with the suspended ride system, in my opinion would put it above SSE, but it is hard to not ride the "big ball" in the center of the "Future" World, so it's really anyone guess. Of course personally New Horizons would be my #1, 2. TT, 3. SSE 4.Soarin'.

I wonder if any current Imagineers have any "New Horizons" concepts....:geek:

If not, I'd be glad to lend some of my ideas

You know, I rarely comment on the frequent posts around here that seem like pipe dreams going backward (whether or not I like the thing being lamented or remembered); but I will say that a "New Horizons" concept is enough of a play on words to appease old-time WDW fans while giving the imagineers a new slate on which to develop a new attraction that updates the ideas celebrated in the original.

Done poorly, a "New Horizons" project could be worse than Imagination II; but done well, it could really be great. It could have nods to the original (even continuing the original's nod to COP with the family reference) while really celebrating the "new horizons" that technology, innovation, faith, and spirit give us to look forward to. It could be a rekindling of the celebration of the future that Future World was set to be, but with a renewed, modern perspective.

This conversation recalls the original over-arching feeling that I had about EPCOT Center the first time I visited it (in the early eighties): that it was too permanent to be a "Future World". Everything that was meant to be a look at the future was outdated the day it opened, in a way; but the spirit and intent of Walt's EPCOT could be found: that of celebrating and encouraging innovation.

A "New Horizons" experience could definitely embody that spirit (including Walt's known reverence for the past as well). I say, give it a try, imagineers... Even if you have to move over to the WoL dead space to do it.

Well, if you ever consider wanting to take the time to produce another one of those Figment shirts, please let me know. I would love to purchase one from you.

Disney posted a new T-Shirt available online today:

http://www.disneystore.com/disney-p...MP=DTPM-CMR&att=PARKS_Horizons_Flash_Facebook

So, let me get my venting done here, because it's kinda filled me with a special kind of rage.

This T-shirt is a slap in the face to anyone who loved EPCOT in it's glory years. Why would we want to celebrate the anniversary of something that DIDN'T MAKE IT TO IT'S ANNIVERSARY. As I said elsewhere, if I'm married, and I decide to get a divorce, I do not get to continue to celebrate my anniversary!

What other attractions should we start celebrating random anniversaries for? Toad? 20k? WoM? River Country "Celebrating 12 years of neglect and rot!"

Sorry, please feel free to join in and discuss if you feel strongly on one side or another of this.
Don't make me cry!

I ordered one of these shirts and was wondering if anyone that had also ordered one had received theirs yet?
i believe the window to order was from nov 21-25. once all orders are processed at the end of the period, i'm guessing the shirts are made and then shipped 6-8 weeks later. earlier this year i bought a 'hatbox ghost' sold online in a similar fashion. You'll know when you're about to get your shirt shipped when you see the card you used get charged. It's not charged until its about to ship. Hope this is helpful

I bought my Horizons shirt a few weeks ago! I bought the Mesa Verde one only because they didn't have Brava Centauri, only Omega Centauri. "Come up to, Brava!"

That pic almost looks photoshopped.

I really wish i could say it was, but that is exactly how awful it looked in real life.

I believe that photo was taken backstage in a CM parking area, but the front view were Guests could see it from inside the Park was just as depressing.
