Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Horizons!!!

From theme park enthusiast angles, Disney history angles, or even how to run a business angles, and probably even more angles, it was a big mistake. I am sure they know that now while taking stock of a 2014 Future World in Epcot that started getting tampered with in the 90's and continued with meh efforts of just stripping down rides/attractions that were just fine as they were and then replacing them with inferior or lower rate efforts. (Nemo, Imagination) I still go on them today with a face palm as I also shake my head and ask myself stupidly time and again. Why? Just why? Why even bother to touch them if a better plan wasn't thought out and executed? Would have been cheaper and better to just leave them as they were. And then of course, the destruction of two classics. H and WOM…face palm again.

Wonders of Life. Not even a decade. Didn't even make it a decade. I can't even tackle this debacle right now….They could have left Horizons and/or World of Motion and put Mission Space or Test Track there. Or something else? Keep the old, nostalgic dark rides, yet still offer new attractions. You know, the we-could-have-had-it-all regrets that still pop into my head from time to time. The best of both worlds scenario: old and new ones.

Why toss such a unique dark ride and replace it with something that can not upswing again like Horizons could, would, and did and is aging faster (MS)? Horizons was really special if you even compare it to other rides in the Disney parks. Horizons and World of Motion were so and still are missed deeply by me and many others.

Let them sell their t-shirts for anniversaries. Blood money…lol. If it makes someone who loves the t-shirt happy, fine then.

What can you do if some people working at a place based on vision has none? Nothing much. You just don't tamper with unique attractions that can be historical and nostalgic classics. Now I am not saying people are losing sleep at Disney over its demise, but I do believe that it has crossed minds that something valuable, iconic, and lasting was hastily lost and permanently. FW wouldn't nearly be in the state it is in if two strong anchors (H and WOM) remained to join a third SE to hold down the fort while Nemo and Imagination hold lackluster, meh, places. While nothing new is built in FW or WS. And after losing an entire pavilion (WOL) Poor Nemo and Imagination... Both of them like someone did a surgery and left a patient on the table without finishing. Sad, but that is how I think of them both.. Like once lovely people who had botched plastic surgery.

The Land. Well, Soaring saved it, but I remember what the restaurant used to be, how great Food Rocks was, and the boat ride is a classic so that is up there too. Universe, well, it is probably time to do something. Just don't take out the dinosaur classic elements or people will be very upset.

MS and TT. Fine. But not enough. They are just not nearly enough to hold FW together. Not the best attractions in the world. Sorry. Just not that strong.

My last ride:

Yes, I did ride it a few months before it closed for the last time without knowing it. The funny thing is, it was a very odd, experience. I went there with a friend. We went in because each trip I do all of FW once. Ok, WS, I visit a lot…I remember it was a lovely, very sunny day, and Horizons looked like a ghost town. Nobody was there. I will admit it. Mid-day in the summer too. We walked up the entrance. A few people on line and the ride vehicles had nobody in them for several feet across. Very dead. And I remember that I took in very vividly every aspect of the ride and just how beautiful it was. Stupid stuff like how kitschy the little models were and how it was charming and classic like COP and POTC. And then I had an odd feeling and I remember thinking which scene I would pick near the end, and then I thought. Well, I will do the water one, because I can just try a different ending next time…

I don't live in Florida and I was young and the tech and WDW sources for updates and news wasn't like it was today, so I didn't know. So I returned to Epcot some time later and almost crapped myself when I saw it was gone.

Instant reaction: What have they done? Are they nuts?

I read most of the posts on this thread and was touched. Just compelled me to respond and in a wordy way. LOL!

Interesting thought, if the sponsorship of WOL had ended earlier, would HP/Compaq have put Mission:Space into the WOL building instead?

It seems like it would be a relatively easy thing as I believe there's enough of space inside the dome to house the centrifuges...the exterior could be turned red to make it look more like Mars or something.

So 2014 has come, which sparks a reminder that the Wonders of life will be remembered 25 years since its opening. I wonder how merchandising will react in response.

Not to mention if someone has successfully cultivated the lorange tree as a memorial for the Flower and garden festival to be imaginative.

Are these available in epcot or were they online only. I don't know how I missed these online. It's my all time favorite and I missed out. :( just curious if they are in epcot as more might be available on eBay if that's the case.

They were available online only. You had to order them between 11/21 and 11/25/13. You might be able to find one on ebay.

There is another limited edition t-shirt which will be available on Monday, the WDW railroad.

"Guys, we're trying to re-do Epcot, how do we re-do Kitchen Kabaret?"
"You know that music thing that's been going around?"
"Yeah?"
"Let's make the food sing parodies of popular songs."
":greedy:"
