Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of Horizons!!!

You guys don't think that offering this merchandise might be a way for Disney to test the viability of the long-rumored return of Horizons?

Granted it's been two years since the rumors first surfaced, but with the mysterious "Epcot Announcement in 2014" (which may or may not be JII's rehab), and the fact that TDO planning and construction moves at a snail's pace, perhaps "New Horizons" taking the place of the "Wonders of Food and Garden Crap" building isn't so much of a pipe dream?

I'll throw this out there: Assume Horizons has received an update to the animatronics and the video screens and Mission: SPACE was built elsewhere. Where would Horizons rank in popularity at Epcot today? My guess: 4th behind Soarin, Test Track, and SSE.

You're probably correct. It would have a very devoted following amongst its admirers like many other Disney attractions.

I alluded to this earlier, but if this were definitively proven, I would go on a t-shirt buying binge.

I wound up buying all 3 for myself and one for my sister. I too would prefer it without the 30th anniversary. Personally, I love the shirts they had at the 2011 D23 Expo. They were all black and just had the pavilion logos centered on the front with a small EPCOT Center logo centered above the neck on the back. Unfortunately they were out of Horizons and Imagination shirts by the time I got there.

Well, I'm going to take a pile of heat for this, but if they wanted some realism on a T-Shirt, they could show a row of ride vehicles from Horizons with maybe 2 out of 10 with any riders on it.
Sadly, not unlike the current incarnation of Journey into the Imagination, Horizons was sadly under appreciated in the end and grossly under attended and had to be replaced. No, I'm not commenting on what has replaced it as it's nothing visionary like Horizons was, but to pretend that these long lost rides were so epic, so enlightening and so enjoyable that they were a must see for each and every visitor to the parks just does not appear to be supported by reality. Like Mermaid today, they were all walk ons in the end. Had Compaq, now HP not invested in Mission:Space, we'd probably be discussing the two side by side shuttered attractions in WOL and Horizons, because it wasn't generating any worthy interest at all. I too miss the attraction, as I miss Cranium Command and more, but it needed thousands of more passengers by its gate than it was getting.
What is the comparison in hourly capacity?

After they run out of apparel ideas for the anniversaries of defunct rides, they'll have us buying things for rides that were never built. I've already pre-ordered my Western River Expedition thong and my good version of Kali River Rapids socks.
Up next----

Get your Wol - Cranium Command - Body Wars T-Shirts!!!!

Need to go to maybe Cafe Press and design a nice polo shirt with all the logos.

One of the guys that were at the tables at front of EPCOT for the 25th Anniversary had a self designed shirt like this.

Maybe design 1 for each ride / pavilion ??? Ummmm--- (using the old logos of course !!)

can anybody who has received one of these shirts let me know if they run true to size, or bigger\smaller?

Disney sizing is crazy. Every shirt I buy fits differently!
they want you to pull a pokemon.. aka "gotta catch em all" with merchandize.. tshirts are no different.

My understanding was that Horizons has a capacity of 2000+ an hour, possibly closer to 3K. I'm sure someone on here will come in with the exact #. All of the early Epcot rides were remarkably efficient and it gave the impression that nothing was popular. Capacity has never been increased on any attraction that was replaced at Epcot.

QFT. In the big picture, I think Disney had to do something with EPCOT because there was the group that absolutely adored the place and those that thought it was boring. I think they just got the balance a little wrong. If TT and Soarin' existed along with Horizons, I think the park would be more viewed more favorably by folks in both camps. No amusement/theme park person goes to a Disney park with the expectation of big time thrill rides, but I can understand the expectation that there should be something on the "exciting" side of things. A properly refurbed UoE and JII along with some thematically appropriate use of the WoL pavilion would go a long way towards improving the experience as well.
