You’re a brand new member (joined 45 minutes ago) and insiders have said there was land already planned for the coco expansion “beyond big thunder”

Hopefully you’ll still get your paycheck :)
Doesn’t take a genius to figure out that developed land is a lot easier and a lot cheaper than undeveloped land

I can the Riverboat to me is beautiful because it lives through the park and resort in a time which it represents an era that is long decades ago and the ship one way didn't have to exist anymore as a real running. Yes it's on a track but it still chimes with smoke. It's as even more a beautiful thing than The Castle. People would riot for the Castle but the castle is still fantasy.
Yes - Disney World and Disneyland are one of the few places where you ride a real steam powered paddle wheel on a daily basis.

Quite a bit of steam trains around - but very few steamboats. (New Orleans and Louisville KY both have one…..)

Even more rare is the horse drawn streetcar - Disneyland is the only one with true daily operations on the Continent- I don’t count WDW’s trolley parade if they feel like it operation.

No one can explain why Carsland can’t coexist alongside Liberty Square with a largely intact ROA separating the two.
They don't want the Rivers at all to help foot traffic.. I honestly think they don't want the boat either because they can't build pedestrian bridges :( They don't want to just change the Island because there's no way to have a bridge or pathway without having to boat in and out.

I meant at first, but I'd also wager it will be the toughest ILL to get for years. Just look at the ride at DCA

I’m on the record as saying RSR is my favorite ride at DLR. I’d love to have it in WDW…but this isn’t the right location.

I have no doubt the new ride will get long lines. If Moana replaced Pirates it would get long lines, too. If *insert IP* replaced Haunted Mansion, I’m sure it would get long lines, too. If they mow down the castle and plop down zootopia, I’m sure it would get long lines, too. Sorry, not trying to be sarcastic, it’s just not an effective argument for me that this is a good decision.

This^

They cram those rafts. Every time I’ve taken one there’s been at least 25 people not including the driver. And idk how many trips across they take an hour, but it’s at least 4-5. It’s way more than 400 people per day.
Just to satisfy my curiosity, and anyone else’s, the max capacity for the rafts is 55 people with the ideal max capacity being 40-45. Rafts depart about every 5 minutes, and about 7-10 when they have to wait for the Liberty Belle to pass. And this isn’t me saying that every raft has 40-55 people on it, but I’ll bet an overpriced cupcake that someone will think I am.

Maybe we can revisit this once it's built. If they actually try to add nature in, it could be beautiful. And the waterfalls (if not budget cut) could add some of the ambiance that's being lost.

Plus I'll never blow another eardrum from that absurdly loud boat whistle.

The reservoirs will be outside of the park. Rivers of America is inside the park.

The park is restricted to being inside the border of the railroad unless they completely retrack it.

Why?

Is there some secret rule that Pirates, SM TBA and Space Mountain are breaking that I don't know about which says the train must circle the outer perimeter of the guest areas of the park under all circumstances?

I mean, unlike DL, our train doesn't have you face one side which means giving people on the left side something more interesting to look at wouldn't seem like the end of the world to me.

Is it about getting people across the tracks?

If so, I fail to see where that's an unsolvable problem - again looking at TBA as just one example of a solution (but over would be a doable option, too, of course.

And you can even do that and add a bridge from the CBJ area as well if you wanted to help guest flow.

I think it’s pretty clear they could make it work *if* they wanted to. Clearly they don’t…

I don’t claim to be an insider on Disney projects. But when it comes to land use. I know a thing or two. Been working in the central Florida area for quite a few years doing jobs related to use. I’m sure land was planed but planning and actually getting the permits approved is completely different. As for the new members. I have been going on this site for years just never felt the need to join until today. I’m just giving knowledge I have on land use permits. They get very complicated, especially when they come to central Florida and the application to wetlands.

I don’t doubt it…but, again, this is Disney. If the will was there they could make it work. They don’t want to.

I really enjoyed Tom Sawyer Island. As a kid I loved the barrel bridge. As an adult, I got to feel like a kid again, exploring in a way you don't get to do anymore when you grow up. It had been like seventeen years since I last went, so I didn't remember what was on there (except for the bridge), and I got really excited about looking around. It was like taking a hike, if you knew you were guarunteed to actually find something other than more trees around each turn.

Don't know, I guess I'm a freak, I made great memories there. It felt unique and fun.

I would think it's at least worth trying some kind of modern IP tie-in before killing it; they have lots of stories involving different places in the woods. Neverland or Wonderland would probably work pretty well, especially considering they clearly don't care about theming anymore.

Just another thing on the ever-growing list of stuff to miss, I guess.
And THIS is why these places mean so much and are so important. Disney needs more space like TSI that are timeless and relevant to any age group, even if you know nothing about the story they're based on. They need places that even adults can explore and reconnect with their inner child. People talk all the time about what Walt would have wanted...but that right there is exactly what he did want. He wanted a place where both kids and adults could play and have fun. Disney is quickly losing those fun, interactive spaces.

WorldExplorer I'm so glad you had that experience. I don't think it makes you a freak at all. I think it's beautiful and what these parks are supposed to be about. Any child or adult who finds TSI boring is missing out.

Me, too. But I must be a weirdo (as I’ve been told today)…because I’m a millennial who…still think cowboys are relevant to kids…because I’ve read Mark Twain’s books…because I think the riverboat is iconic…and now I guess because I’ve never complained there’s “too much to do” in a theme park 🤣

Sure but my comment was in response to someone talking about bad stuff happening in the 80s, but he actually meant the 90s based on the specific things he listed. That's all it was.
I lived in SoCal in the 80’s and 90’s and some of the things that I mentioned happened in the 80’s at DL. But I agree, some were the 90’s. But my point is that the creative team that is at the helm right now is more comparable to the group that was in for those duds that i mentioned. Thank God that the subpar creative team that gave us Tiki Under New Mansgement didn’t tear out Pirates to do it.
