Can Universe of Energy be fixed?

I think they can either redo the ride with Ellen and Bill Nye. Or have DHARMA take over and you are suddenly transported to a mysterious island full of electromagnetic energy.
I don't think Bill Nye is relevant anymore.

I'm surprised that UOE outlasted WOM, Horizons, Imagination, and the Seas.. so don't get rid of it. I think the ride just needs to be a little quicker... 30min tops!

I like the ride but 36 mins is way too long! It made me miss half of RoE! :lookaroun

They do tell you how long the presentation is, so there's no real reason to miss RoE for it. I like the Universe of Energy...it's a good place to go when your feet need a rest, I've never felt bored during it...in fact, I've always felt like it was much shorter than it actually is! But I suppose everyone is different.

As a fellow Epcot Center proponent, I agree that UoE should remain with some modern updates. First off, I'd actually like to see the Dinos go. They aren't as impressive as the ones in Disney's other Dino attraction and they don't have a ton to do with the topic of Energy. I'd like to see the theater portions shortened, the pre-show shortened and a more modern film added in as well as a moving portion that would basically be a modern version of Adventures through Inner Space. The hardest part is keeping the show on topic, while still making it entertaining. The current version does just that, but it needs to be updated and shortened.

The topic still rings true (and while the material has been around for lots of years) most of the data presented is still relevent. We still make it a must do for each of our visits, and hope if they tweak it, to keep it fairly similar in nature.

My husband, son and I love Energy just the way it is. We always stand by the doors to the theatre so we can have our favorite front row seat. I was saddened when they took out Horizons and Motion, and I would hate to see this go too. We don't need another roller coaster.

In all honestly, I really don't like going on Universal of Energy. I usually get dragged on it because someone has not seen it yet. Probably the best part [of walking up] about that attraction is the pre-show!

the attraction is odd. First you go through this long sequence about Dinosaurs and then it seems it put into fast forward mode after that. So what i am saying is: less dino, more talk about energy and I will be happy.

Can it be updated easily? Yes

Can it once again make full use of the pavilion instead of being a movie theatre? Yes

Could it be a `must see` attraction if new technology was intergrated into it to build on the original designs? Certainly

Will it happen? Probably not. Look at everythng else that needs `help`, starting next door. Then to Imagination.

It can easily be fixed, just needs some Radok screens, a couple of mirrors, and a big, trippy musical finale with a catchy theme! :D

For the record, the people who say that the Universe of Energy is boring and too long absolutely drives me nuts. Don't you get any sense of wonder at the epic scale of our Universe, and the sheer power behind it? And Ellen isn't even enough of a sugar-coating for you to enjoy it? If that's not your thing, that's fine, just stop visiting EPCOT, and leave it for those of us who want something with substance instead of drivel like Nemo and Test Track.
But, Mr.EPCOT!!! EPCOT has to be for EVERYONE...DUH!:rolleyes::lol:

Well I'm going to disagree that the original version was a "stellar" attraction...1/2 of it was really good, 1/2 of it was bad.

The radok screens, the dinosaur scene and the trippy disco show with mirrors and theme song were great...the rest wasn't.

I believe they could definitely shorten the ride length (BTW it's 38 mins if you take out the pre-show). I know I've taken heat for saying that before, but part of the problem with updating this attraction is putting in enough of content to make it interesting for that whole time...not easy, especially compared to the next longest attractions on property are usually 15 mins. or less.

It's also not like people aren't educated about the different energy options out there, it's all over TV and news these days.

As far as keeping the dinosaurs, I can see both sides of it...I think its good to keep them because there is an educational value for the kids who are too young to ride "Dinosaur" at AK and are more interested in the actual appearance of dinosaurs and how they look, then getting scared with loud noises in darkness and strobe lights

I've often wondered if they could make it interactive, where YOU could go through the Dinorama :)D) and "collect" energy...Or would that ruin it?

I love it the way it is. If it is so "boring" don't ride. It's not Disney's fault you have a short attention span.

And also, I prefer Ellen over the original. Much more entertaining.

maybe, but the current basic movie system is just such a waste of the preshow theatre and theatre one. Or more properly, the whole design and shape of the pavilion.

And the post/exit area.... nothing to see here folks. This is where the money ran out. At least Exxon could afford some backlit photos if nothing else. A few flatscreens or interactive lighting would go a long way. Oh I forgot. SSE is first in line for them. When they can afford them.

That is my only real complaint with the current show. All of the post show space seems really wasted, even when the Save The Tiger exhibit was on display.

A small gift shop (much like the one in the current Seas) would fit rather nicely.

(It would be nice to see something akin to the Radok blocks for the pre-show if we ever do get a refurb)

I like the current version too, but it is dated. It simply needs a good plussing. New hosts to replace Bill and Ellen, more things going on than just movies, and more impressive SFX.

One thing I hope they don't change is the musical score. LOVE IT! Has a very Epcot-ish sound.

:D My favorite score in any Disney park. While I do hope it sticks around, I would be fine with getting a CD release of the full score in case the ride does actually change.

Bruce Broughton is a genius.

I have never rode it the 45min time on the door scared me away. According to the general census of what Ive read on this forum in the past, Im not missing much.
