Like I said, I was just speculating, not saying what they would or should do but what they could do. As I've said several times, whether they do anything significant with Star Wars at the theme parks is another matter entirely to them now owning the rights. When something like this happens, people are going to let their imaginations run wild, just like they did when Avatarland was announced. Until we know more further down the line then anything is possible, even if a lot of it is not probable. But speculation will continue, just like it did about Avatarland before the plans leaked last week.

Can't really base the potential of Star Wars films on the performance of a ride refurbishment. Obviously there are no sure bets in Hollywood, but Star Wars is as about as sure as it gets. It's still the number three franchise of all time in worldwide gross. The 3D re-release of Phantom Menance (arguably the worst of the 6 movies) did $43 million. Only about half of what the Beauty and the Beast 3D re-release did, but still respectible, and more then Finding Nemo 3D is going to do.
I think some people on here are taking the name project morpho to literally people are using the techinical meaning Morpho: a type of butterfly, for this project. But what if its like this, the project morphed into something else and maybe it's not avatar anymore
You know, that's a little creepy as I was just discussing this with someone else and I just joked about it on another thread.
I seriously doubt that is the case (sadly). But it is an intriguing thought!

Morpho is the film technology that Cameron is using.

My wife made this suggestion as soon as we heard the project's name. I figured that was WAY too deep for Disney, lol.
This is the far more likely reason. Plus, the color of the Morpho butterfly bears a striking resemblance....

Morpho is another attempt by Cameron to get audiences in the USA to embrace 3D movies. Thus far 3D has fizzled in the USA both with TV's and movies. Both Disney and Cameron have a vested interest in selling this to audiences. They're going to find out that 3D is doomed for another failure a la 1953. Based upon TV sales alone, 3D has already failed in its latest reincarnation.

Not that it would happen but I do wonder how much money Disney would owe Cameron if they up and decided to go a different route from a galaxy far, far away. I am still not sure that the theme would fit DAK, although Endor and Tatooine both give a great outdoor setting. Just not Ewoks. I'm sorry but I truly hated them. Jedi would have been fine without amping up the cute factor. The Family Guy's take on that movie is so funny where they joke about how the Ewoks with slings can defeat armored troopers with laser guns.

i just dont see them going into DAK with star wars when they already have a presence in DHS

Completely agree. Just not sold on Avatar. I'll probably be amazed when I see it but not there on the concept at this point.

Disney will make all the money from SW moychindising now. A land will be re-themed/expanded if it is deemed to increase sales of said merch and/or attendance. Don't expect much in the way of mind-blowing E ticket attractions. A themed land based on SW is likely in DHS with the existing ST and another mediocre ride, possibly a third small(screen based attraction). It will be nicely themed though. And have plenty of gift shops.

I think the hype the news has generated across the web shows if Disney does the film right...it will be a huge success. All about how good the movie is.
