I hope it is an adventure ride. If there are thrills make them very mild, but have a point to the ride. The cruise through Pandora would be far more interesting if something goes terribly wrong.

Maybe they could have poachers attempt to kidnapp a baby banshee (I think that is what the flying things were called). AK already has some unemployed poachers with plenty of experience;)

Finally saw Avatar last night. Great visuals, obviously. But the story? Meh.

Most expect the DAK attractions and theming to focus on the environment and visuals, not the plot of the movie. I wouldn't be surprised if the specific characters involved in the movie are not involved at all.

Not to mention boring characters, cliche villains, boring over-used love story, very preachy political and social messages, cheesy lines, does the same thing a thousand movies have already done before, doesn't give us anything new other than the visuals, and I could go on forever.

When you got to go its always better to go in comfort.
I hear there won't be any toilet paper though. Instead there will be glowing leaves that you can wipe with.

You won't find many people who will disagree with you. Though the visuals in the hands of good imagineers I will concede could lend itself to a very richly themed park environment.

You're describing the majority of blockbuster movies being produced.
Tranformers fits perfectly in this description as well and doesn't look half as good as Avatar does. But I don't see anyone complaining over Universal cloning their Transformers ride from hollywood.

I'm sure there are a lot of people who enjoy the movie, but I just don't think it would have done anywhere near as well as it did financially had the visuals not been as good as they were. And I've not met very many people online or off who think it's a great movie outside of the visuals (i'm environmentally conscious but whether you are or not has nothing to do with the underlying quality of the movie itself, an example of a very good pro-environment movie is Wall-E). I never said I didn't like it though, and i'll probably end up visiting the new expansion if it's ever built.

On my first watch I enjoyed the movie, it was entertaining to me and I didn't feel it was bad by any means (though I found it more boring the second watch and haven't given it a third yet). But that's more than many others have given it in my experience with talking to people, in general i've found people seems to feel it's "very pretty but the movie itself is meh". The plot was generic and the characters mostly bland. It was very technically impressive regardless though and I can actually see a lot of potential theme park wise in terms of raw visuals. At this point there is no way of knowing whether it will be popular. That will largely depend on how well the expansion itself turns out from both a visual and attraction standpoint, and perhaps whether the sequel movies end up being popular as well. For as popular as Avatar was when it was released, i'm not witnessing the same sort of lasting interest among people as compared to other franchises like Star Wars or even Harry Potter.

In recent months I have become more interested in the expansion than I was previously. But it has nothing to do with the fact that it's Avatar. It's the rumored boat ride that has me most intrigued. Animal Kingdom needs more rides like that that anyone can just sit back and enjoy. But I don't really care that it's Avatar related, AK is just quite starved for more calm rides that i'm taking whatever I can get. And given the choice between being themed to Avatar or instead to a pre-existing Disney movie (Jungle Book, Lion King, Emperor's New Groove, Fantasia, Up, etc) i'd rather the water ride be based on one of Disney's own movies than Avatar.

I can't say I care for the Transformers Ride announcement either. Apart from the fact that its associated with Transformers (enjoyed the first, but 2 + 3 are utter garbage whereas I feel Avatar was a bloated overrated cliche movie that offers nothing new other than the visuals) it's also a pretty bland ride concept where it's just spiderman with Transformers. It's also not likely that Avatar will be a Potter swatter at all. Potter was a cultural phenomenon while Avatar was just a movie that made a lot of money. They'd have far more success building a Star Wars themed area.

the term potter swatter is ay over used and nothing is a potter swatter..disney took the best IP available (LOTR would have been nice) still think this will be incredibly immersive regardless of what people think in terms of story line
