Does anyone think WDI axed the bike coaster because they have plans for it in DHS? They will need to do something with Rockin Rollercoaster when Aerosmith's contract is up soon. Possibly a overhaul of the building to look like Flynn's arcade? Then remake the tron interior from SDL? Sounds like an easier task then making a ground up project, the track is already in place.

Hmmm.....Motorcycle based roller coaster. Sounds like it might be a good fit for a Lucas-land speeder bike attraction. Oh.....to dream.

Well, my theory along those lines that if they have plans to use the bike coaster at WDW (big if), I think it's most likely going to Tomorrowland at MK and be an exact clone of the Tron theme. There was plans in the past to put a Tron attraction there and if it happened it could replace Laugh Floor or the Speedway.
I do agree, but my question would be with budgets in mind with cars land on the table. The brick and mortar are already there at RR. Why not use it for tron? Is rather see that than Hannah Montana's both worlds rollercoaster.......

Hogwarts Express will be the real deal! The train stations include highly detailed scenery and effects. The trains themselves will be very realistic including steam wafting from each car, scenic treatment and sounds. Each interior cabin includes period props and treatments. The window in each cabin will utlize an advanced optics display making it appear as though you are looking outside a window. As the train travels to the station riders will be treated to different storylines depending on which station they are going to. The cabins are also equipped with a full effects package including heat blast, leg ticklers, lighting etc. One storyline includes a dementors attack where it will get dark, the air will go cold and lights will flicker among other things.

Make no mistake the connector train ride is a full E-ticket! The R&D for the display system alone is staggering. Nothing like this has been done before on this scale and it will be spectacular. Avatar looks to be a joke compared to just this attraction. I haven't even mentioned the major new ride for Potter 2.0 yet.

That brings me to Gringott's. The queue, in my opinion, will be even better than Forbidden Journey's queue. Let's put it this way...the queue includes a really cool elevator ride that will simulate moving vertically and horizontally. You'll feel the air coming from the right side as you move to the right and you'll feel the air from below as you travel down. Each of the two elevator simulators include a projection dome above to enhance the visuals. That's just in the queue. Maybe I'll save the actual ride description for another time but suffice it to say that everything from the unique ride system to the exciting show elements will make this attraction one of the most impressive rides to date.

Most interesting thing said in the thread. Always enjoy your input.

yeah nobody cares about it that whole all time grossing movie thing...obviously it was a total failure..come on guys because you dont like it doesnt mean no one likes it...im not crazy about NFE but i would never say nobody likes it..how about we see some concept art and then judge.. understand they should be dumping money into this project that they probably wont but still...i guarantee you it will look incredible even though it doesnt get the motorbike coster

it's not that nobody likes it, it's just no one cares. Avatar the franchise doesn't really inspire that much love from people. It'll open and it'll look nice but by that time, more people will be lining up for Cars Land 2.

The video posted above is the small Intamin model, not the ride system Disney is using for the Tron coaster, which would be similar to the Avatar one.
The video below is the Vekoma version. Disney's will of course be longer, indoors and much better themed, but you can get an idea.
So...this...longer, indoors with Tron lighting and effects (or maybe someday Pandora theming)...

If the Tron ride is a hit...do you see them bringing it to WDW much like the Carsland rumors?
I'd actually love to see this style coaster using screen technology. Imagine riding on the back of a dragon through the flora/fauna of Pandora, flying up to the skies (where there would be giant video screens showing off the floating mountains, waterfalls, etc. It could be a multi-sensory experience like no other.

A couple of things.

Thanks to whylightbulb. Honestly, it pains me to say it, but this HP2.0 seems like
they are swinging for the fences. Nothing that we've heard rumors of at Disney sounds
remotely as good as that does. Even if it ALL gets built at Disney, it just doesn't sound
as good. None of it.

Second.

I wonder if the leaked plans thing has more to do with the motorbike coaster than
we think. We don't know what's outside the building. Perhaps there are forces in the
company who think "this is good enough" and forces that say 'you're crazy, we can't just
build two attractions like this". This leak could be intended to--as it seems to have--see
what people think.

There's a healthy mix of enthusiasm, skepticism, disappointment here in this thread.
And we know they're paying attention.

Disney, wake up! Step up! Blow our minds again the way you used to.

So let me get this straight, Disney is already downsizing Avatarland? Only 2 attractions not 3? No new great technology just a simulator and boat ride. While potter is getting 2 new state of the art attractins added to their already great WWHP ride. Nobody seems overly excited to see Avatarland come to AK. If Avatarland opens in 2017 or 18 and it is a flop what is Disney going to do then? I hope this is not true.

I can't fault Disney for staving off building the bike coaster right away.
For one, think of all the negative reaction on these boards when Disney announced Pandorland in the first place. It's wise for them to wait and see that people respond to the land to begin with.
Besides that, I still think they're going to want to get multiple attendance boosts by building the land in stages.

I was hearing last year that Staggs had pitched the idea of ordering two Tron rides, for Shanghai and MK. Apparently that didn't happen at the time.

However...things change almost daily at Disney. I could see the ride system making its way to WDW at some point. Right now, I see nothing to indicate its still on the table for Avatar. That may change, but a Tron clone for MK is just as likely...well...as of today, anyway.

Three phrases that Disney don't learn from:
  • You have to spend money to make money
  • Go big or go home
  • Phase 2's make pretty coffee table books.

Just google leaked avatar, if you must. edited by The Mom
And scroll a bit...

Not trying to sound condescening but I don't understand the prevention of leaked plans on a site like this. Being an unofficial site, shouldn't this be front page news here? It is all over every other Disney fansite anyway. Can someone explain this?

I agree with this....but I think a tron theme land could work just as well not just one ride..have end of line club/restaurant/bar..Flynns arcade, light bike ride, and air ship or flying ride, then an immersive inside the grid experience where they put you in the grid. Maybe a virtual disc fight or something?? Maybe I sound crazy...
