Cameron has given the OK ...

Heading for the great escape.
Yeah but the coaster (with a highly themed environment) can't be changed as easily if 2 and 3 bomb. I imagine the coaster will be phase 2 if Avatar 2 is successful at all.

We're only seeing the theater attraction and part of the boat ride in these plans. There's a lot more area to play with than this.

But doesnt that sort of confirm that they, are again, looking for the cheapest option they can get away with?

Well, I will hold out judgement until I see some renderings. My hope is that this 2 ride concept is an initial offering, with plans for the bike coaster to be released as the later movies (3, maybe 4) are finished up. However, I am pleased to see that the majority of the land will be in an enclosed attraction. This gives the imagineers so much more control over the environment they are creating and makes for a better attraction in my opinion.

I just thought of something.

The fact that we see plans for this one building---does that mean no coaster,
or does that mean we only have the plans for this one building?

I have seen THREE renderings. Are there more, that contextualize what we have?
Nothing is 100% in that regard.
The package that these drawings come from only make mention of the E, the C, quick serve restaurant, merchandise and restrooms.

No mention is made of another ride.

Forgive me if this has been addressed, but is it possible that the "blueprints" we've seen are for a specific aspect of construction, intended just for a specific contractor? One set for building/structure, one set for electrical, one for rides systems, etc? If this is the case, is it also possible that we're missing critical information for getting a "true" picture of what this will be? I'm just asking out of a lack of understanding on how these things work. I'm probably way off here, but hopefully someone can answer this.

Is Soarin' considered 2 stories high? Or One? And do the blue prints give any indication if this system is more than two stories - I only see two levels...

Is there anything that shows what the C-Ticket does after it exits the building?

I'm going to guess that inside the building is a boat ride through bioluminescent
Pandora at night . . . .

Boring/out-dated subject matter can have great attractions:

Stop the thread. A philistine just claimed that The Twilight Zone is boring TV and Lilo and Stitch is a great movie.

Can some blue cat people show up and claw that person's eyes out, please?

(Mostly kidding about the clawing.)

With Soarin' 2.0, yeah absolutely. Can you really blame them though? Avatar isn't the proven hit they need to bankroll something like that...yet.

For Cameron to agree, I'll bet there was a handshake agreement that if Avatar 2 makes $XXX at the box office, the coaster will be green lit. It's been designed and is probably ready to go.

And if 2 should bomb, well Disney can stick with Avatar for a few years and then change it over to Beastly Kingdomme or something else.

Sounds like a smart way to go to me.

It's why I threw in out-dated. A vast majority of the people setting foot in DHS have most likely never seen one moment of the show, and I'd bet that a majority (over 50%) have never even heard of the show. It does not stop those folks from enjoying the ride and experience.
It was not meant to reflect on the quality of the show itself, as I fall into the category of folks that have probably only seen 1-2 episodes in my life.

You think Disney would foot the bill to change Pandoarin' if Avatars 2 and 3 aren't successful? No way. That costs money.

So, they're about to start building this. I was excitied but I'm not anymore. I bet there's not a rollercoaster in this area. Without a coaster, this will be just another themed area with a simulator like the new fantasyland. Oh, the new fantasyland has a coaster but it's a family coaster :-/

wow, something great to look at, the theming of Pandora. Is anyone else sick of this? We get all this themeing but no rollercoaster. Disney always makes stuff for children but when are we going to get a great rollercoaster from disney like the hulk, or manta!? I don't think I'm going to renew my passes in a few months. There's not much there for adults. It's just a giant chuck e. cheese but with simulators. So tired of looking at a movie screen while sitting in a moving box. Where's the amazing themed rollercoasters that we know Disney can do here? They could make a Manta style rollercoaster but theme it around the dragons in Avatar, have it built around a mountain, canyon or grassy hills JUST LIKE IN AVATAR! If Disney built carsland in Orlando, that would be the coolest thing ever. That is a great ride.

I swear, I wish I could give the imagineers some direction so that they're not just making rides for children, but making them for ALL ages. Where's the Disney we use to ALL be able to enjoy?

:-/

That's the way I see it as well. It's also possible that this may be where the more fragile AAs may be. There isn't anything to show that there aren't multiple ride buildings either. It could go in and out of separate buildings.

Glad to see some movement on this, finally. I have to wonder though, if these plans were intentional leaks, like maybe they're the ones that were not accepted, and they just put them out to stir the waters in hopes of re-igniting the fire of excitement and lure everyone away from the real plans which will soon be published with an official announcement?

Is it time maybe for a new sub-forum dedicated to Avatar? Or are we waiting until an official announcement?

You're absolutely right, I can't prove that I have stuck to my word but I can assure you I will be (so while it's pretty much worthless, I give my word that I will stick to my word :p) . I see what you're saying though, it must sound like a lot of false bravado but I have never liked the idea of Avatarland and I think the best alternative to spewing out anti-Avatar garbage for years and annoying everyone else on this forum is to ignore the thing as best I can.

In regards to your last point, I think I have a pretty good idea of why you're talking about.

Just as long as you don't think I took shots at you personally for your opinion toward Avatar. I can appreciate someone's opinion that they didn't like the movie or think the land is a bad move (even though I think we all agree it was a knee jerk reaction for sure)...

I am talking from my own experiences though... I am sure my older posts spewing venom about another theme park in Orlando are still available to be read on here.. I shouted from the highest mountaintop that I would never step foot in Universal ever again... but, oops, I did... And enjoyed my time there, making it a must do now... So, I didn't keep my word... But, I admit I didn't... Curiosity got the better of me, and I caved... But I am glad I did...

That is all I am saying about some of the people (ok, maybe saying all was not fair) who are shouting from the same mountaintop... But, of course, their online personality (or character as I have called it) will have to continue posting about their hatred...

Well, anyway, love having a good chat with someone who posts rational thoughts without letting emotion take over... Thanks Frank! In all honesty, I do enjoy reading your posts....

On the bottom right of the B&W blueprint, it says "FP03 Ride1". Any idea what FP means? I'm assuming Final Proof or something along those lines.

So to get back to the discussion, remember how awesome and cutting-edge the Tower of Terror ride system was when it opened in 1994?

Hope Avatar gets something on that scale, but I'm doubtful.
