BLT & Treeshouse DVC Announced

The BLT goes on sale Sunday to DVC owners, and it's being reported that it will go on sale to the general public a week later. I'm pretty sure it was the same way for AKV... But DVCMike could tell us for sure.

I was told last night by our DVC salesperson that members can reserve points now and then have the transaction go through on Sunday. She said that nonmembers will be allowed to start buying on October 5th.

The concept art on the Treehouses is amazing. Now to get the money together to buy one so have the extra time to book. Why are there only 60?

Are the DVC units deeded for life or do you buy into them for only a specified number of years?

Depends on the resort you buy into. The BLT is going to last till 2060. The AKV's last until 2057 I believe.

The older resorts (which you can still buy via resale) are less than that, but not a ton less. It's still a good 35 to 40 years.

Does anyone know how much more it will cost to switch? I'm at Saratoga and I would like to switch to BLV. Are there point charts out yet for either of these?

Treehouse Villas at Saratoga Springs (pics found here):

So based on the first pic, should I assume that the treehouse villas AREN'T going to be wheelchair accessible?

I want to know why the family brought their monster truck on vacation.

The points chart is out for BLT on the DVC members website. Just go under Resorts, click on BLT, then click on Points Information. It's not as expensive as I thought it would be.

Well... What do you mean by "switch"? Do you mean sell your contract at SSR, and buy a new contract at BLT so you have priority 11 month booking? If that's what you're asking, you would have to sell your SSR, which right now is selling in the low $70's per point. Then you'd buy the new BLT (apparently at $107pp). So... You'd take a loss of around $30 per point, and that doesn't factor in what price you bought SSR at. If I were you, I'd wait and see what you can get at the BLT at 7 months. You probably wouldn't get MK view since only 20% of the building is supposedly going to be MK view... But if you like the location and don't mind the lake view, I'm betting you'd be able to get in.

I actually think the opposite... That there's QUITE a premium to stay there. Especially in a MK view. Depending on the room category and time of year you go, the difference between the BLT and, say, beach club, could be as much as 50% more points required! That's quite a bit!

Yep. The treehouses look awesome. Are there point charts out yet for them? I wonder how hard it will be to get in one of those if Saratoga is not your home?

There's nothing on the THV's yet. In fact, if you ask me, there's hardly ANY good info out there on them. Lots of questions people are going to want answers to.

Points charts?

How will transportation be handled (busses)?

Will you have to go all the way to the main building of SSR for food, etc?

Will all SSR owners get 11 month priority (I don't see how they wouldn't)?

Will boat transportation from the new dock to DTD be shared by the rest of SSR? Maybe even OKW?

It's a tough call on these things... If you want to stay in the THV's so bad that you buy SSR points (like me probably), what happens if you can't get in them? All of a sudden you're forced, most likely, to then stay in the least desired rooms in the least desired DVC resort with the least themeing because trading out to another resort isn't always easy. In one resort, you could go from the highest themed room of all the DVC's to the worst!!! It's a fairly big risk to buy SSR points just for the THV's!

The points will probably be slightly higher than the 2 bedroom villas.

I bet the SSR busses now have another stop added. I hope not!

Yes, you will have to go to the main SSR BLDG for food, but remember these are like self contained apartments and they expect many users to cook their own food. This is why all DVC specific properties have a serious lack of food options. Maybe they will put a small snack bar at the pool.

Like AKLV vs AKV they will probably have separate points for the THV's. That would mean that SSR owners will not get the 11 month window.

The boat dock for SSR is not all that far and I would expect that it will be shared.

Now lets see if I am wrong again?:brick:

Forgive me if this is common knowledge or if it has been covered but I was wondering about the amount of rooms in BLT in comparison to the other DVC resorts? I was wondering about availability at the seven month window? I am sure it will be tough at first but I wonder if it will eventually be like VWL, which can be difficult at the seven month window.
