Best surprise at WDW

Since we have the biggest disappointment thread, how about a best surprise? Something great that happened to your, or something wonderful a cast member did?

My best surprise happened on Christmas day several years ago. My wife and I had neglected to get any reservations for dinner. We had previously gone up to the California Grill for a drink a few days earlier and had wanted o go back and try dinner. So, we decided to take a chance. Up we went, nothing available. However, there were two seats available at the sushi bar if that was okay. It was. No waiting. We were treated to samples of free sushi all night long, had a fantastic meal and got to watch the fireworks with music from up there. Such an awesome time! And we go back every time we are there. But we make reservations!

One night when my daughter was much younger, she lost the fan attachment to her Disney water bottle on SSE. I waited with my daughter at the entrance while my wife went inside to see if she could get someone to find it. Meanwhile, a CM walked up to me and started a friendly conversation, and my wife soon walked up to us and told me that they could not find the fan. My little kid was devastated that her one souvenir was ruined. The CM took the water bottle to the shop at the base of SSE. He came back with a brand new bottle and refused to let us pay for it. We wrote to Disney in order praise this guy's kindness, and we have never forgotten the blessing that he provided for my daughter.

We were waiting to watch the Pirates and Princess parade. I was wearing an eye patch which totally messed with my depth perception. A quartet of cowboys had stopped to sing for us and we enjoyed the performance greatly. During the performance I had placed my drink beside me and did not notice I had it too close to the edged of the seat I was on thanks to the eye patch. Well it fell over and was lost to the ground. One of the singers, the bass singer, asked me what I had been drinking and proceeded to go and get me another drink. That was something he didn't have to do because it was my own clumsiness that caused the spillage. It blew me away. Never saw his name tag so I couldn't send in a thank you note. This was several years ago, but it was the best experience I have had to date.

We have a few since we went twice on our anniversary but I would say the best was one of the following: special anniversary dessert at Boma, pixie dust heart at Crystal Palace, or winning Dream Fastpasses at BTMRR, or being given AK Dream Fastpasses by other guests entering AK- that one really touched me because it wa so random. :)

My husband made me a scavenger hunt throughout the Magic Kingdom on our honeymoon. The cast members helped make sure nobody stole the clues, and gave me hints. The grand finale was in the Spanish Fountains outside Pirates - they had pixie dust (i know, it was glitter), leading to a little treasure chest filled w/chocolate coins & little things. I know it was my husbands planning, but Disney helped him out. A CM gave us a Magic Moments certificate too - which I'd always read about but never seen. I was ecstatic and felt like a little kid again. :D

Last September, I went on my yearly trip, my office worker wanted to take her kids one of which was deaf. I was blown away to find out that most of the Princess knew how to sign. The look on her face was amazing and made the whole trip for me not to mention for her kid.

^^^Good job hubby! :sohappy:

Anyways I never got anything major, but the little things still mean so much! We got free champagne glasses at Cinderella's Royal Table (back before the character meals) on our honeymoon, got a little too much attention paid to us at Hoop De Doo (I got pulled on stage to be the cancan girl!), but our fave was probably a pass to ride Space Mountain through the fastpass line as many times as we wanted! It was just a child swap pass, although we had no children, and the guys taking the passes just told us to keep it and go through as many times as we want lol I think 4x in a row was our limit

When my little girl was 2 she covered herself in choclate at CP. I had a big bib on her but she still managed to get choclate sauce all over her Minnie Mouse outfit.
Anyway as we were leaving the CM's at the hostess staion were commenting on how cute her choclate dipped outfit was and said that she should not have to got the rest of the day in choclate and gave us a certifiacte for a free shirt in the Emporim Shops. What a nice thing to do for a 2 year old who trashes all of her clothes. While at the shop my son who was 3 of course wanted somthing b/c his sister was getting a new shirt and he picked out a sword, the CM at the register was laughing and told me that he had a little sister too and understood. So he gave my son the sword for free too.
On the same trip my son shop-lifted a small plush Simba from AK. I didn't see it in our stroller until we got to the car. I ran it back with my son to the entrance and explained. The CM there told me for our honesty we could keep it. Again HOW NICE! Thanks Disney!

Wow -that is so cool that the princesses know how to sign!

Our youngest insisted that we line up early for KRR to open at DAK (opened at 10 am) during our Nov 2003 visit. We were the first family to ride and there was a CM in raingear waiting for us at the load area. She introduced herself and took us on a raft with just her as she pointed out the hidden cameras and asked us if we knew the story behind the ride (we did).

After the ride, the CM took us to the control room and we stayed several minutes, looking at monitors and asking questions. We were also given a special pin and a Magical Memories certificate. After exiting the control room, the CM took us to the load platform and let us cut the line to ride again (without our asking). It was so personal and special. We felt like royalty!

My digital camera not being stolen when I left it behind in the Splash Mountain gift shop. Instead a wonderful CM rescued it for me. :D

In December 2006, DH and I went for a meal at the 50s Prime Time Cafe. DH hadn't been feeling well all morning and when the food came, he tried a bit but just couldn't face it. So, he went outside and left me to eat alone. The CM's were lovely and looked after me. They didn't charge me for DH's meal and gave me a box of crackers to give to him. I was really touched.

Bus Driver Made our Trip

After Jelly Rolls, we were on our bus back to PoR. We were the last group off the bus when the driver asked if we had a camera. Of course! Well, this is when the magic happened. A lady passing by took the pictures of our group (6) and the bus driver doing crazy poses in the bus!! From doing the Incredibles pose on the seats of the bus to outside doing a team hand in the circle to the best picture of them all, my wife behind the wheel of the bus and all of us surrounding her. It really looked like she was driving the downtown disney bus!!!!

This was a huge surprise that made the trip one that will never be forgot. Small things that took 10 minutes out of his day brought memories for a life time for our group!!!!

First time we took my DS at four years old to Disney in 1998, we had lots of great memories. But one that stands out is our final night at MK during EMH when we were walking around after midnight and ended up in front of the castle. My son was so tired I was carrying him and he couldn't hold his head up though none of us wanted to leave. We finally trudged toward the front with a nice CM who walked us all the way from the castle to the entrance. Onto the monorail and back to the CR to bed. The next morning while I was getting dressed, I noticed my Winnie The Pooh watch (favorite at the time) had stopped at 12:25pm. It was only around 8:00am so I knew it stopped when we exited the MK. The watch was retired to our first Disney photo album. Each time we open it to reminisce after all these years, it's still on 12:25. Disney Magic!

My wife and I were on our honeymoon and were going for lunch at the Cantina de San Angel, when we went to pay with our honeymoon registry gift card, the cm said it was free as a late wedding present. She then asked if we wanted some Margarita's to go with the meal, that probably made my wife's day!

We've had a lot of fun surprises, but on our Nov '08 trip, we put our tickets in to get FPs at Winnie the Pooh and after each one popped out surprise FPs for Philharmagic!

We had spent a week at WDW. All week long, my poor wife, who Loves Mickey Mouse, had tried in vain to get a picture with him. Either the lines were too long, or there were so many kids around Mickey that my wife would say. "It's ok...let the kids go ahead. It will be a great memory for them."

On the last day of our vacation, we decided to go to The Magic Kingdom.
We had never ridden the Liberty Belle Riverboat before so we decided to hop on board. Because it was the first launch of the day, there were only a few people on the boat.

After the boat took off, my wife and I decided to go up to the top deck to get a better view. When we got to the top of the stairs...there he was...Mickey Mouse.

My wife and I got to do the whole boat ride with Mickey practically all to ourselves. The look on my wifes face when she first saw Mickey was priceless, and we really got some great pictures and video that day.
