Beastly Kingdom

So I know there have been rumors ever since Animal Kingdom opened that Camp Minnie Mickey would eventually be turned into Beastly Kingdom. Well, it looks like it might finally be happening! Wish I had a more reliable way to prove this, since I know there are people on this site all the time saying they heard this rumor, an employee told them this, etc. So I don't know how many people here will actually believe me, but here goes...

My uncle is a carpenter, he works for different companies building custom pieces. Usually he's in Vegas working on pieces for different shows and casinos there, but he just found out that he will soon be working on some pieces for Disney! So he called us since we're kind of the family Disney nuts lol, and when I asked him what it was for he said it was a new kingdom. At first that confused me because come on, Disney can't be planning on building a new park. But then he said it was going to be with mythological creatures, so I got pretty excited and said it might be Beastly Kingdom, and next time we talked to him, yep that was it! So here's hoping for an announcement soon...

I dont mean to sound stupid but what exactly is Beastly Kingdom? I hear people talking about it all the time but I have no idea what it is.

Very interesting.

Just be prepared to be bashed by a few people. :(

Personally, part of me welcomes the thought, but part of me would prefer to see Australia instead of BK. Also, my wife loved the Festival of the Lion King, so it would be a shame for them to get ride of that attraction in order to build this new land.

Oh well, we'll just have to wait and see. Time will tell whether or not your relative is a reliable source.

No bashing from me. Sounds more legite a rumor than most others. I hope it comes true. Should finally make DAK a full day (into the evening) park.

I think Disney will need something to combat the upcoming Harry Potter section of Islands of Adventure - whether that is Beastly Kingdom or something else. Animal Kingdom can use another Land more than the other parks right now and what better time than the present! Maybe they will announce something for future plans at WDW on Epcot's Birthday Oct 1st... Here's for hoping that WDW has some exciting news in the near future.

I really hope they'll relocate Festival of the Lion King...it's such a great show that I can't imagine them just shutting them down.
And yeah, I'm sure there will be some bashing. And for the person who asked about the company name, I'll post it later...I'm going to have to call him and as, I don't remember the name of his company.

I think this would be a great time for Disney to unleash Beastly Kingdom since Universal has just unleashed its plans for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Believe it or not.. no bashing. Crossing my fingers as I would love to see this happen but not at the expense of any attraction currently at AK. Hopefully they can squeeze it in at another area of the park.:sohappy:

As much as I would love this to be true, it's most likely a misunderstanding or miscommunication.
Beastly Kingdom, if it were real, would be the largest in-park project in nearly 10 years. A project of this magnitude would be difficult to keep secret for very long. If they were at the point to hand out carpeting contracts, we should have been hearing some significant buzz about it, as well as seeing significant activity in the Camp Minnie-Mickey area - site surveys, ground preparation work, etc.

I really hope I am wrong - next to the Excavator, BK has always been my favorite canceled AK addition.

EDIT/Addition: It's true that WDW needs a major addition within the next few years, since a fifth gate is not on the horizon and Universal is likely to attract a lot of attention with their Potter land. But recently they have been building and refurbishing attractions at a rate that we could have only dreamed of just five years ago - it's hard for me to imagine that they'll add a major new land before "cashing in" on the recent and upcoming attractions with a period of relative quiet.

No bashing here, either. I honestly don't know whether or not the OP is legit, but everyone knows that Disney will have to do something to counteract the massive success Universal's HP area will be. WDI dusts off old plans all the time.

Agreed and agreed, and we know pretty much we`ll never see the original BK in DAK. In theory, however, there is nothing to stop a new version being built. I`d imagine FOTLK would stay due to the recent infrastructure investment, and there are valid arguments each way for another coaster in DAK so soon after E:E, but wouldn`t it be great if some elements (Unicorn maze, Fantasia Boats) made it along with one (or two!) D/E Tickets either based on Dragons Tower (very doubtful) or a hybrid from other ideas for this and other parks, just waiting in the dust on a shelf in Glendale.

As I said, time will tell. Nothing on the radar.

Perhaps the items are just being made for a backstage water cooler cabinet, and the area is still refered to on plan as BK

I'm not going to bash you over this one, that's for sure...

It's more reliable than most that get posted here. At least you're uncle isn't a bus driver who's second cousin twice removed's wifes brothers sons girlfriend works ad WDI and told him so...:D

Won't it be cool to be able to say your uncle worked on a new part of WDW? I'd think so!

I have a feeling Disney will ease into the Beastly Kingdom section, not going all out at once (almost like giving guests a tease of the real thing before it happens -- maybe a few buildings or a low-ticket attraction and then the "real" section). This might be a good idea to see how interested guests are with the overall theme of the area. I think mythical creatures and such would be a great idea to combat Harry Potter (another fantasy/magic/mythical theme).

If Disney does do Beastly Kingdom, it wont be as a knee jerk reaction to Harry Potterville at Uni. It wont need to be. The timing is right for Disney given the recent releases of movies that have mythical creatures in them. Beastly Kingdom was in the original plans for the parks, but got cut for a number of reasons.
