Avatar's arrival ...

I hope they would they increase the seating capacity as well?
There is room behind Tusker's (it smells bad there though). I think that would be the only place on the other side of the bridge it would fit unless they put it on the path between Africa and Asia. That would be a traffic nightmare.

Behind Tusker House is where they currently have the base station for the wild Africa Trek but moving it would be rather easy. There is some open land back there but even the existing theater looks like it might be a pretty tight fit unless you started moving access roads.

Yeah I thought about that, but the footprint of the Africa Trek is pretty small from my experience. So keeping it or not I don't think would be a big issue. It would be a tight fit and I think you would almost have to have another bridge there for traffic.

One of the other things to consider about the path between Africa and Asia is you are land locking the theater with no easy access to the...um...access roads.

I'm not sure this is really necessary. I usually have no problem getting into this show.

Wild Africa Trek's placement would certainly be in the way if they put it behind Tusker House. I would think a better option would be near the train station. We know in all likelihood that the train has to go away at some point, might as well prep that area now...

I agree, but could never see it at WDW. Beyond the French/international take on film, there's the fact it shows mostly non-Disney films and I can just see the folks in the American Heartland's reaction when clips from films like the Exorcist and Black Swan are shown in a Disney attraction.

I actually like a fair amount of attractions at DSP. Armageddon is kewl for the special effects experience it is (have heard rumors it may be on its way out ... funny, I recall when it was a planned Phase II DCA addition!) ... and I enjoy Animagique and Crush's Coaster a lot (although didn't see either this trip).
!

From opening, I actually thought that Armageddon, along with Cinemagique and Animagique were the best of the bunch. Rock n Roller was a disaster, along with the Studio Tour.

The pre-show to Armageddon is painful though - the actual show sequence, very good.

Amazing what multi-park, multi day tickets can do to crowd distribution. The park was dead until they introduced hoppers.

Neither have I but I always get there early and tend to travel during less busy times of the year. However, I rarely see an empty seat in the place.

How can anyone claim they know anything about the current specifics of the state of Avatar when no one had any clue about Disney pursuing the Avatar property to begin with? More than likely Disney is working on it and when it's ready they will let us know.

Welcome to the boards... :ROFLOL:

You think Rock n Roller is a disaster at DSP? I actually like it BETTER than the one in Florida!! I think the coaster is much better paired with the cool lighting along with the music than with the day-glo 2D painted plywood.

I saw Cinemagique recently as well and the one Pixar film addition that I remember is Ratatouille (besides noticing Avatar and being quite surprised by Black Swan). So it seems to be at least 5 new films they added - 3 of those Pixar.

And I don't remember lots of other animated clips - but then I did not look out for them either...

The Disney and More blog actually reported on this in the past week or so, so it's been a pretty recent swap out.

I don't have the list handy, but apparently they've added quite a bit including the aforementioned films as well as Narnia (first one) and Lord of the Rings (not sure which ones) too.

I am starting to think I am Lee's source.

Only when elephants fly out of his !

Anyway, I am shocked it is CMM. Glad to hear that FotLK is getting a new home. I just hope they do not put it where Nemo is now. There are better fits at DAK and even the MK.

Nothing is getting a new home ... yet. And maybe not ever. All Lee did was tell you where the possible expansion would be located (which most of us knew or assumed).

Mostly I am just glad we can move past this local urban legend that it is not happening and is in developmental limbo. Never bought that for a second. Odd how these apparent disinformation campaigns get started around here and especially by whom.

No odder than having online obsessions with people you've never met and never will.

And 'local' is only local if you consider 1401 Flower Street or Team Disney Burbank to be right up the street from you in New Mexico.

Here you would be wrong. Don't assume that because the project has a potential home that they know what is going in there. Or that the project has moved beyond only a very early blue-sky phase in Glendale. Or that everything is going smoothly.
No disinformation started here, or with anyone here. Information originates elsewhere, in that case on the west coast, and trickles down here. Don't blame the messengers.

Has it really come to this that we are BOTH responding to JT's inane insanity?

I think I need a vacation!:king::D:drevil:

Actually, I think the fact who first posted about Avatarland maybe being cancelled added a lot credibility to that rumour. It was started by the thread "Say... What if Avatarland got cancelled" http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=833814 by the forum member pheneix. Because the name did not tell me anything I did look at the poster's history and if you do that then you immediately see that this is someone with a lot of inside knowledge.

Yep ... the individual usually is dead on in what gets posted. I never started the 'Avatar is a troubled project' deal. I just checked into it and found it that it was quite true ... and nothing has happened in the least to change that, even from Disney.

Let's not forget how Bob Iger ignored it at the shareholder's meeting until confronted by a fan and how perturbed he sounded/looked when answering said question.

I won't say it isn't happening unless/until I hear it. And I won't believe it is until I see real vertical construction (sorry, moving dirt doesn't mean a thing).

I greatly enjoy those three ... the fact they are unique helps. But they are also quality.

I have no idea why they even bothered with the Studio Tour deal. It is dead in FLA and that at least used to partially function as a studio. I guess it was just cheap to recreate.

I do like RnRC at DSP a lot. I don't get the idea of Aerosmith designing a coaster in the pre-show. But the effects, when they are working (as they were a few weeks ago for my visit), are much better than plywood blacklit cutouts like in FLA.

BTW, RnRC is getting rough in Paris now as well. Not Space Mtn bad, but I could sense it being much rougher than in 2009!

it was so odd to have to fight crowds in that park ... May 1st was the worst with the holiday ... wound up just doing Cinemagique and looking around and heading back to DLP.

It reminded me of the first time I saw DCA crowded!:)

Why oh why does Lee have to be riding SWSA with tears in his eyes as he clutches an Orange Bird plush right now?

I really don't wanna have to answer this one again ...

How about linking me any source from anywhere where anyone knew about a pending deal about Avatar before Disney made the announcement.
