AVATAR land - the specifics

Protection against damage from derailments?

Hah... yeah. We're one major malfunction away from crashing into that wall on test track, but there's an extra precaution so our slow-moving boats don't somehow derail ;)

Although, unless someone else can explain, that seems to be the only purpose they serve!

They talked about interactive stuff in the land. I know that the big plant at the entrance spits out water/mist if you touch it and I had thought there may be other things that they'd have. Has anyone who has been there noted things for guests to activate somehow?

Then again, it's possible that some of the "interactive" stuff might be things that are lit and only running at night, so they just might not be available yet. I don't think we've ever gotten confirmation of the existence of the path that lights up when you step on it.

There are creatures in a pond that shoot up water if you go near the fence. There are also drums. And apparently there will be streetmosphere in the "drum circle" area when the land opens. I haven't been there in person, but that's what I've gathered from watching too many videos.

I am beginning to doubt that the path will light up when you step on it. I think it might simply light up... but we shall see.

The floating boats with guide track derail occasionally. Jungle cruise boats have skippers there to react... free floating boats do not. If there wasn't a guide rail.. a boat that derailed could free float into the sets. I don't know the setup in this attraction.. but that would be a reason for the fail-safe even tho boats are on a guide full time.
Or the guide is more to help point the boat through tight turns that otherwise the boats could go head first into the walls and drag or stall. It would give a turning vector that the water against the hull could not give on its own - thus helping rotate the boats.

You could use the guide some of the time, and not all of the time, or other designs. Would take someone knowing what the track/flume system looks like to confirm. But point being.. you can come up with different solutions/needs here :)

I did the Annual Pass preview today. Pandora is a beautiful immersive experience. I can't wait to see it at night. Unlike others, I enjoyed the Na'vi River Journey and it was just long enough for me.

Unfortunately, the leg restraint would not "lock" when I tried to ride Flight of Passage, and so I wasn't able to ride it. I spoke with several staff who indicated that others have had the same problem (including another guy in the group of eight in my room) and that they may need to make adjustments.

There's been a name change around these parts.

I'm hoping "- The World of Avatar" is eventually dropped from the name of the land itself, or at least, rarely used. It's not that I don't like Avatar, I just think the name of the location alone, "Pandora," jives better with Africa and Asia and hopefully future locations.

Just had a thought, how do they clean the restraints on flight of passage? Your expected to put your head against a headrest I believe which would have just had someone else's sweaty, nasty head on it. Or even the majority of people wearing shorts and having the leg restraints around their sweaty legs. Do they wipe this stuff down before the next set or what?

My thoughts as well, and ever other attraction for that matter lol. I doubt they ever get cleaned! Disgusting.
