AVATAR land - the specifics

LOL And you do realize that what I am doing is called a critique! You apparently do not understand critical thinking skills. I have have said numerous times I will re-evaluate once I have visited the land. Once you get on my level, then you can talk to me. Until then, sorry.

I think in the worldwide pursuit of all opinions matter and the ease of access to the internet, suddenly everyone feels that simply having an opinion makes one able to be a critic on any matter of subjects.

If you are a picky eater, your opinion is: "Nothing in the land appeals to my tastes, but I'm an admittedly picky eater". That's a perfectly fair and awesome thing to express (like once, not 20 times).

However, in no way does being a picky eater suddenly make your opinion viable to being a food critic. South Park covered the YELP concept of our age, now everyone is a critic.

Sorry, one needs experience first and foremost to be a critic, not simply an ingrained opinion. You can certainly review a burger from the sounds of things, reviewing something you admittedly don't like serves pretty much zero informational purpose to anyone who isn't a picky eater. Then frankly, what does it matter, because the picky eaters already know they aren't going to like it? Unless the purpose is just to get a rise out of people, that's called trolling... another wonderful internet phenomenon

I wasn't very impressed by the Yak and Yeti quick service, that could use some work but I get it, it's the equivalent of a quick service burger, but I quite enjoyed the new Harambe Market.

I agree they've stepped up their game, overall. I quite enjoy the offerings at Disney Springs and would often want to go there instead of staying in the parks to eat (I don't make reservations often because I go solo; I don't care about eating alone I just like to keep moving ...). I really do need to start getting into more of them. I should have attempted Skipper Canteen and Tiffins/Nomad Lounge at least ...
I enjoy eating at the Animal Kingdom more than any of the other three parks, actually. I think Harambe Market, Yak and Yeti and Flame Tree BBQ are all solid. I'm looking forward to trying Tiffins later this year as well.

IMO, the Chicken Tikka Masala at Yak and Yeti is the best entree in any of the four parks.

I agree wholeheartedly. I love Flame Tree and now Harambe Market (the chicken skewer was fantastic). It's funny you mention the Chicken Tikka Masala. I really should have gotten that, it's what I leaned towards yet I went against my gut. But my mistake was the honey chicken. I should have known better. Probably the worst on the menu, I assume? I mean, it wasn't THAT horrible, but no thanks. I was having an off day yesterday anyway LOL.

I also quite enjoyed the teriyaki beef slider with the pickle at one of the stands. It was a tad dry but enjoyable. I want to see more things like that. The other parks have awful quick service. Sunshine Seasons at Epcot "looks" like it would be good but it's not.

Hasn't Pizzafari changed to flatbreads though? I mean I'm sure it's not great but it seems better than what was there before, which isn't saying much ....

I've had the honey chicken before, it's not bad but nothing earth shattering. The Tikka Masala has a decent amount of heat and great flavor.

Pizzafari changed to flatbreads, but I haven't eaten there in a while because there are better options in the park.

Flavor. That's what was missing (I mean, it tasted fine and I'm hardly picky, but I'm nitpicking this). I'm definitely going to try it out next time. It was just a bit of a letdown after enjoying everything else so much.

First, you are debating food that hasn't been tasted. Come on now.

Secondly the sickness at WDW is homogeny. Burger burger burger. Fries fries fries. Coke coke coke. Now it's becoming Starbucks...

Live a little... there is more to life than a slab of meat and deep fried foods.

WDW has done a pretty good job of diversifying food choices, back in the highly loved good ole days, it seemed every restaurant had burgers and hot dogs. Now only a fraction of them do. Not saying it is good food...but it is no longer burgers burgers burgers.

I'm going then to. What I am wondering is if they will let you stay past 8pm? I picked that time purposely to, hopefully, experience the land at night! I'm curious to how many passholders will be there during each time frame and how long the lines will be for the two attractions.
I got 6 to 8 for AP, so I can explore the land and watch it transform from day to night, and then 9 to 11 the next morning for DVC to actually go on the rides :geek:

It might be better than it was, but it has a LONG way catching up to DL

Wish I had selected that time frame. Picked 3-5 :/ but oh well. Gives me something to look forward to later, seeing it at night. I don't know why I go against my gut on things sometimes .... I guess I need to spend more time in AK and become best friends with a castmember there so they'll bring me in as a guest too! LOL

Well as i live in the UK I don't get to come over when I feel like it :p

Same. It's a wonderful feeling.

I spoke to a member of staff in Universal in Oct 2016 who asked where we were from, etc, the nice pleasant convo starters. When I said we loved the Florida sun and hated the UK rain, she quickly said 'oh I'd love to have that weather'.

Believe me, from living with it for 36 years, the UK may have it easy with less extreme weather (although sometimes we have quite extreme rain/wind) I would MUCH rather wake up and be outside in that Florida sun rather than be here in Manchester waiting patiently for the 3-4 months of a tiny bit of sunshine, (mixed in with a lot of rain).

I am not even someone who stays out in the sun....it's the atmosphere it brings, the brightness, etc!

I love seeing that Disney sign. The best feeling is getting on the ferry to the Magic Kingdom and seeing it laid out in front of you. Maybe it is better than I can't do it all the time...maybe it is good that it is an occasional escape for me.

I am on the high end of both but do not flaunt either nor do I fit into that stereotypical category.
irony..

anyway.. regarding comfort food.. WDW hardly has any of that "level" you speak for.
WDW is filled with subpar below McDonalds burgers for example.

Once you get on my level, then you can talk to me. Until then, sorry.

Irony x 2.. "high end.. do not flaunt"..

Yak in Yeti is great no argument there, we love that place. But outside of themeing at WDW, it has always seemed that taste has always taken a back seat to actual substance (the food). Are we going to stop eating at the parks? No way, and compared to other amusement parks we've visited even the bad stuff at WDW is waaaaay better then what you get at some parks. Prob just most people hold Disney to a higher standard.

After trying Universal's "quick food" service (like hotdogs, burgers and street stuff). I have to say indeed. WDW seems very superior to UNI in this aspect, havent tried other parks.
But higher food.. I dont know. I tried a few and some at UNI were very good. But my best was definitively on WDW's California Grill

If there's no attraction signage, CMs are gonna get really, really annoyed at having to give directions. The idea of a Disney Park with no signs anywhere sounds like a great social experiment.

And yeah, one AA in the boat ride - and, I believe, in the entire land. The backstory of the land is that the natives don't want to be near us... an odd approach to an IP-based land. "Welcome to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, where all the wizards and witches think you smell weird and are hiding from you."
Pretty sure he mean your "common signage". They will probably use landmarks and specified themed signage.
Think of it "right after the waterfall, by the human attack mech"
