AVATAR land - the specifics

Yeah, the worst food I've ever had at a Disney park, bar none, was in DL's Tomorrowland

I think DL is a much better managed park on almost every level at the moment, but I don't see the huge food discrepancy between WDW and DL.

Huge discrepancy right now in taste, seriously both parks in DLR blow away our 4 parks in terms of taste and options. And we're no foodies by a long shot, I'd eat burgers and fries through a drive-thru 7 days a weeks if I could. But after we got back both my wife and I were honestly telling our friends and family who visit the parks quite often, just how much better the food is out in DLR.

You are also forgetting that DLR is in California, a vastly different cultural region than Florida. The entire West coast is very different culturally than the east coast, especially the southern east coast. And yes, DLR and WDW has visitors from all over the world, but it would be folly to think that the local cuisine and culture would not have a major impact on food offered at the resorts. The south is all about comfort food, and the west coast is more health oriented traditionally. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the food offered at DLR was different than that offered in WDW, because they are on two different sides of the country. It doesn't mean one is better than the other, they just appeal to different audiences.

I live near a southern foodie city. And believe me, we have quite a few restaurants that offer high class "pedestrian" fare as you put it.

No, it is a debate, because it's based on opinion. If we're waggling credentials, I've been to WDW "probably 100" times.

Anyway, let folks have their tastes and opinions. You like DL food better. All well and good.

And don't try to be a condescending food snob on a theme park message board.

Im responding to the other poster who said, had I been to DL, thus the response. And to you, I live at WDW.. lol. And again, if your using quick serve burgers as your barometer between parks then I have nothing more to debate.. you win that's one. Enjoy.

All I'm saying is that if you have your blinders on, saying Your not going to like something, before you've even experienced it, then you probably won't like it.

i ve always found i enjoy the food at DAK (eating at Yak and Yeti for lunch on my Pandora preview day) and EPCOT but DHS is not great (although the themeing is incredible in their restaurants) and MK is just bad

Thank you. This couldn't more true... and it's not a recent thing... it's been this way for 5-6 years. At least the food was massively improved at Flower and Garden this year... better quality, more food and seems like maybe a little less money than before if that's possible.

Yak in Yeti is great no argument there, we love that place. But outside of themeing at WDW, it has always seemed that taste has always taken a back seat to actual substance (the food). Are we going to stop eating at the parks? No way, and compared to other amusement parks we've visited even the bad stuff at WDW is waaaaay better then what you get at some parks. Prob just most people hold Disney to a higher standard.

i think DAK does a pretty good job of diversity of food as well as appealing to people who dont like to venture out too far

i deal with this with my wife and daughter (which is the reason they wont try Tiffins)

I just had tiffians for the first time two weeks ago. It is fantastic! Great service too.

With some exceptions, this seems like a pretty fair assessment. DHS and MK have also suffered noticeable declines in the quality of their food.

First, you are debating food that hasn't been tasted. Come on now.

Secondly the sickness at WDW is homogeny. Burger burger burger. Fries fries fries. Coke coke coke. Now it's becoming Starbucks...

Live a little... there is more to life than a slab of meat and deep fried foods.

Back some years ago, Disney tried to healthy up their food and it was a massive fail. People do not go on vacation to eat healthy (yes, I am aware there is a percentage that do). I applaud disney for their exotic menu; however, lets compare. Resturantarous, Flame Tree, and Pizzafari are always packed. The food stop in Africa while it does smell amazing, is never packed unless its lunch. The other 3 stay packed.

There is no argument that Pandora food will be well liked. I already know every disney forum member and website is going to claim the food to be the most amazing meal ever. Rare, do people say otherwise about disney. I; however, tell it like it is. As I have mentioned, I will try Pandora food and make my final critique afterwards. However, regardless of whether or not you have tasted food our not, we are conditioned to look at pictures/menu's and automatically can make assumptions about how something will be. How do you think people decide to choose one place or the other? Exactly!

I've been to DL probably 100 times. Safe to say I've got a handle on which park has better food. It's not even a debate.
.

I do agree. DLR has delicious food with the exception of Tomorrowland. To WDW credit, the food quality has drastically improved.

Look not all the food at DLR is healthy. It's just really good. Also, healthy and good can go together.

Ventured over to the site ending in nt and they claim there will be no attraction signage, no typical mickey magic band readers, and some interesting merchandise that seems kind of interactive. They also claim only one AA na'vi creature in the entire boat ride. Hadn't heard any of this before. Anybody know of there's truth to any of this?

If there's no attraction signage, CMs are gonna get really, really annoyed at having to give directions. The idea of a Disney Park with no signs anywhere sounds like a great social experiment.

And yeah, one AA in the boat ride - and, I believe, in the entire land. The backstory of the land is that the natives don't want to be near us... an odd approach to an IP-based land. "Welcome to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, where all the wizards and witches think you smell weird and are hiding from you."
