So I am wandering around the backlot like a crazy person and I’m now convinced that studio 12 is represented in the plans as a reused structure and that’s where the boundaries of the land are. I really do think Hyperion is staying. The Animation building is staying (it’s still in the Avnegers artwork, but projects don’t really communicate)

The little extra window bit disruption of the crescent shape is actually just a fake facade and not part of the actual building. You can see so on google earth.

But the schmoozies false facades are going and will be repurposed as some sort of dual sided berm.

I think you've got it correct. I would have thought they'd need more space to transition from urban to natural, but those structures in the concept art... yep. Portals do a lot, don't they?

But what does that mean about the monorail? Honestly, if this is part of a huge rethink of DL transportation, I'm for it. Get rid of the monorail and build more peoplemovers or skyliners.

Unless they're squeezing the WHOLE open land area in front of the monorail track, and all the attraction space is behind the track. And monorail guests get to be in a tunnel the whole time.

The monorail beam was moved in the former Eastern Gateway redo. I think that will still be the case.

I don’t know who made this image, but TP posted it six years ago.

I personally want the monorail to stay, but would be for trams to be replaced by a multi staged Skyliner.

As I recall it was based off a mock up that MiceAge did back in the day when the thought was that Marvel would be going into the backlot. Ah how times have changed....

So they’ll have to alter the BVS buildings and track over BVS then if this is still the plan ? Currently the monorail is on a straightaway there

Although I have high hopes for the attraction, I honestly don't think the land looks any good. Compared to the floating islands found in DAK, this stargate with a few waterfalls just doesn't captivate me. Hot take, but I really do think an Avatar boat ride should have just gone to Tomorrowland and that be it.
There are floating islands in the concept art.

I'm not sure why anyone is second-guessing the location. You can just look at the upper right and see.

Probably because most people aren't considering that this concept art could have very well been drawn before DisneylandForward was fully approved (like the other piece of concept art), so at the time Disney was leaning heavily toward this location and generated the concept accordingly. But now that DLF is approved and they didn't reveal a specific location at the expo, it is very well conceivable that they are still internally debating if they want to continue with it in the backlot or move it over to the Simba area.

I'm not trying to argue that it is DEFINITELY going to Simba, but that it is still a chance, no matter how slim. I also do concede to the fact this piece of concept art had the backlot in mind when it was created. It's not hard to see that. I will also concede to the idea that at one point it was definitely going there and that's why all the rumors point to that......however......I also know that plans can always change at the last minute when it comes to Imagineering. At least that's what everyone here says when they think they are right but want to be open to the possibility that they are wrong. Just in case.
