Does James Cameron have any theme park experience besides the Terminator 3D show?

I take it he wasn't involved with the Aliens ride.

You do know why Orlando got it right?
I don't. Why did it come to Orlando?

Heaven knows I'm a big Uni fan, but I don't much like the Transformers ride. Seems a lot like Spider-Man to me, but not as good. I don't know anything about Transformers, though, and think people who do would probably enjoy it much more.

It sucks in a lot of people, though, so I'm glad it's there. Kind of like Toy Story. :)

It is going to look very much like this including Platform 9 3/4:

Speaking of which, how are they going to work platform 9.75 into the land?

This has been posted and buried somewhere, so please forgive me for re-posting. I thought I would pull it back up due to it's relevancy to the discussion. Not saying this is what they are doing per say (maybe someone who knows more would like to add input??!!) Just adding to the thought and speculation process...
This is what I pictured them using to show us the world of Pandora. Not really Soarin, but could be likened to it.

This would be acceptable but use of actual show elemets and AAs and not 3d would be a winner!

Universal has 2 simulator based attractions (Simpson's and Dispicable Me). Try again!

I think he might have meant broad Simulator terminology which would also include Transformers and Spiderman. While not directly a simulator, its contains the same elements.

Yeah, I know where he/she was going with the snarky comment. But to call Spider-man, Transformers, or Forbidden Journey simulators is incorrect. Yes, they use projection technology. But they are far more than simulators. they use RVs that have 7 axis+ motion that move through space with set pieces and multiple phisical effects. They are state of the art dark rides.
I can understand the bitter jelousy when WDW is serving up '60s era omnimovers with mechanical fishys. It's tough being a pixie duster these days.

Dude, no need to have a snarky attitude with me either, I was just stating a logical statement. If you follow the definition of a Motion Simulator you would see that a Motion Platform is under the same definition. Spider-man and Transformers are Motion-Based Simulators, or Motion platforms on a roving base. So under the broad category of motion simulators they would be included. In fact both are communally called motion simulators.

For spiderman:
  • First ever combination of moving, motion-based ride vehicles, 3-D film and live action
And finally under a list of Simulator rides both attractions are included.

Don't forget Potter.

It's tough being a pixie duster these days.

It's also tough being a theme park fan that appreciates actual animatronics and sets.

At the most basic level, riding a modern dark ride is starting to resemble walking down the TV aisle at Target.

I rode it in Universal Hollywood and found it to be a very poor man's Spiderman. The fact that they cloned it in Orlando surprised the hell out of me, since a superior version of the same ride is right next door.
You're talking about a "poor man's version" of one of the best theme park attractions ever built. I agree that Spiderman is a better ride, but I really think it's 100% a matter of personal preference. An argument could be made for each. Moreover, they built this attraction in 14 months and it seems the primary reason for it being built was, "because we can." When was the last time Disney built an E-ticket without 10 years of planning?

...or when was the last time Disney built an E-ticket as a buffer for the incoming crowd crush from an upcoming expansion?
