In the past for me it's been the first arriving on WDW property (we stay off-site...$$ reasons) and hearing Mickey on the radio (do they still do that?). It kinda builds from there. Driving along, past the Studios...all the way up to MK parking. Then you park and get outta your car and get on the tram. Magic is still building at this point. You get off the tram and onto the monorail. 'Please Stand Clear of the Doors; Por
favor mantenganse alejado de las puertas'. OOooohhh! It's coming! Through the Contemporary and out the other side. You can see the castle and the MK mountains. OOOOOOOOHHH! Off the monorail, through the gates, under the tracks and onto Main Street USA looking down at the castle. Aahhhhh.......finally home!! :sohappy:

Now that I am older I've been planning more of the trip and I've been getting really excited at merely thinking about the world. I have the song from the Rememer the Magic Parade and at the part when the high female voice sings "When you wish upon a starrrr...." Oh man...I tear up. It reminds me of my childhood and watching the Wonderful World of Disney on TV and Tinkerbell flying over WDW to MK and Mickey on SSE!!

Great. Now I am all excited again and I gotta sit here for another 95 days, 14 hours, 46 minutes, and 24 seconds :fork: . Thanks guys ;).

In response to the magic question and carousal

[ :fork: :fork: PLEASE DO NOT TELL ME THAT CAROUSEL OF PROGRESS IS BEING THREATENED!!i UNDERSTAND DISNEY WANTS TO PROGRESS, BUT SUCCESS COMBINES OLD WITH THE NEW. I CONSIDER THAT A DISNEY MAGIC RIGHT THERE.
I WAS MOST HIT WITH THE MAGIC BACK IN THE 80,S WHEN MY FAMILY AND I WENT DOWN FOR A WEEK. IT'S ENTERING THROUGH MAIN STREET. BUT I EXPERIENCED A LOT OF MAGIC AT EPCOT, THOUGH EPCOT WAS STILL EVOLVING AT THE TIME. MY BEST MEMORIES OF DISNEY STEM FROM THAT TIME. HOWEVER, I LOVED BEING THERE LAST YEAR. HOPE TO RETURN IN A COUPLE OF YEARS. YOU SHOULD HEAR MY SON ON THE SUBJECT. HE IS FANATIC OVER THE MOUSE. HE WANTS US TO STAY IN THE VILLAS THIS TIME AND WE ARE CONSIDERING THE VACATION CLUB.

:) For me ,the magic REALLY starts as the airplane drops down through the clouds on the aproach to MCO.

Seeing all the roads, cars, buildings and the lakes certainly starts the adrenilin rush. :sohappy:

I definitely feel the excitement and the magic when the planning starts, but it really doesn't seem like it's actually happening. Not until I step off the plane into the airport and take the tram to the main building do I really get what I'm doing. : )
But the best "I'm going to Disney World," bouncing-up-and-down feeling I've ever had was last Christmas when I went with my mom's side of the family. We drove and met up with my aunt the night before the last half day of the drive. We only had Florida left to drive through down to Orlando and I navigated for my aunt with my grandma and my aunt's big black dog in the backseat. It's very cold and snowy at Christmas where I live and I still vividly remember seeing all the orange groves and the billboards with Disney logos on them. That was the moment I will always associate with that childlike excitement we all feel when we go to Disney World.
Yours,
Bella

For me its the excitement when you start seeing the billboards before getting into the parks. Seeing the hotels outside of the resort that I used to stay at when I was a kid, and now am so glad they have a variaty on property. Whats really sad is the last day you are in the parks, knowing you will have to leave. Having to eat premium mickey bars every 15 minutes cause you know you cant get them when you leave......

The Magic Abounds

 :sohappy: I am catching the fever again after so many years away from Disney. Although I have been well over 30 times I haven't been since the 80's. I planned a quick two day trip for Sept 3-5 ( thanks Frances) and rebooked for November. The anticipation of planning, buying tix at my local Disney store ( we still have one!) and making ressies at POR (first time on property) was overwhelming! Now having to wait 45 days, 19 hours 27 minutes to arrive is going to be the death of me. Add to that I have not told my three children that we are going and ( they have never been) and you have here a re-born Disney addict going out of his mind with frustration that the hours don't tick away faster till the MAGIC day.

So to answer your question......see above.

For me, there are different levels of Magic, for different phases of my journey to WDW. There is the Magic in the planning, and it's all consuming... I get obssessed, and talk & think about little else... then the day arrives, and we fly to FL, and that Magic gets me so excited... like a little kid, and I can't eat, and I'm so early being ready to leave for the airport! Then we arrive in Orlando, and there's Magic in knowing that in a short time I will be arriving at my resort for check-in! Driving on to WDW property! WOW!! < no other words... But then... the ultimate Magic is entering the MK, and starting up Main St. USA... the feeling that overcomes me at that point in time, I get choked up... and it's a feeling that I'm "home"... I think only others that love Disney the way I do can understand that feeling.

The big build up starts when I leave work the evening before the flight then continutes until I am walking to the front gate and start to hear the background music of the park.

Wow, havent been since the 80's. One recomendation. Turn your 2 day trip into a 5 day trip. You will only get in two parks and none of the other stuff to do in two days....

Truth be told, right now! :D I've never experienced a more nostalgic feel like now. Seeing everyone talk about the positive in Disney! It's a fresh change!

Two thumbs up for this thread! :sohappy:

The magic hits me when we bring out all the old park maps and pictures the night before we leave. We also watch all the old family tapes and wdw promotional tapes we have

When I wake up the morning I leave, that's when it really hits me. The entire drive, the billboards, and then finally the large "Welcome to Walt Disney World" signs. It's just amazing those first few seconds on property. Just to know you're there.

What a great and positive thead. This is why I visit this site. To listen to others that share the feelings for Disney. This is what Disney is all about.

Someone stated this best on the threads. There are different phases I go through.

1) The planning stage. We are currently in the planning stage of our next trip This is when the antipication grows. We start bringing out the photos, reminiscing about past trips, buying the "Unofficial Guide", websites and other material and lastly start listening to Disney CD. I've been listening to Disney Superstar Hits a lot lately. Although our next trip isn't until next year. We made a mistake by postponing our trip in August. So the wait is killing us, and may I add a long wait since we changed plans.

2) Arrivial. Nothing like arriving at MCO airport. The Town Car ride to the resort. Walking into the resort and checking in. Handing our bags to the CM. Then it grows over next 7 - 10 days with MK, AK, Epcot, MGM, DD, etc.The big grin all the Cm's give us as they are welcoming us.

3) The hard part is coming home. But talking about the trip leaves goosebumps and tears of happiness.

One thing I learned from these boards, plan the next trip as soon as you get back. It just brings a sense of joy knowing you will be returning.

Griz, you have done a lot of things for these boards, but this is one of my favorites :D That and of course the fight to keep COP

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
The magic hits me when I first enter the MK and walk down main street... the sound of Dapper Dans, and the smells coming from the Main Street Bakery, seeing the castle as I stroll down main steet.. Its becomes sensory over load for me... at that point I know I have then arrived... The magic hits me. :)

Would love to, but work constraints, and we are going for a week in March of next year, and we bought into DVC....so the MAGIC is coming albeit broken up. If I could go for a week I would do it.

In the wee, dew- and misty fog-infested hours of the cold, early April morning when I pull my luggage out of the trunk at the drop-off lane at PVD Airport and then roll through the automatic doors into a wonderland of earthly bliss - with x-ray machines all over the place and the newspaper stand just opening up for the day in the distance.

There is always a "moment" on every WDW vacation that I feel the Magic the most. It is usually early in the morning or late at night. I take a walk by myself and wander around the WDW resort at which I am staying. I am in amazement that amidst all the hustle and bustle there are those quiet times. I sit somewhere and just soak it up..........
