Are you 23?

Does anyone know if the magazine is out in stores? I know that they are going to sell it in Barnes and Noble, but where else besides disneyshopping.com?

I saw one in a Disney store in South Carolina last weekend. They didn't have one to look through, but from the cover and back it looks really nice.

I was in Barnes and Noble today and asked. They went to the back and brought me out a copy (They said that they had just received it). The cover was beautiful and it promised a dazzling experience inside.

I purchased it. The production values are excellent. It's a stunningly beautiful mag. Lots of different articles, including a 3 pg letter from the editor and an introduction from Bob Iger.

The articles themselves left me a little......cold. Superficial. There's a piece on Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland with some artwork, but only one pic from the film and not much real information. Three pages of the Dream Suites that didn't seem very new or interesting. For a magazine that was positioned as providing inside information, it really didn't seem very....well......inside.

Maybe Disney's editorial magazine skills are a bit rusty.

Interestingly enough, I don't think I will purchase it again unless I hear that it's really improved. I certainly wasn't impressed enough to join D23.

I can also confirm I saw it at a Disney Store yesterday. There was even one to flip through. Now I am convinced I am not spending money on 23 until I see any benefit that makes it have any value whatsoever.
(That means value to me, in my opinion, don't start a new argument, you can't change it.)

Are you saying there might be a little bit of profit margin built into this $75 magazine subscription?

The girls at the Disney Store were trying to get me to buy the magazine yesterday. And like its been said 1,000 times the production quality of the magazine is top notch. It does look like a soft-cover book instead. But none of the articles made me want to snatch it up. The internet and other fan sources have outscooped this magazine by a long run. Now I know most people won't take a PC in the bathroom with them like they will a magazine but I think you'd be better off having LP Magazine, Celebrations Magazine or Orlando Attractions magazine as your toilet reading instead.
But is anyone else concerned what will happen to NFFC Conventions now that the D23 Expo is on the slate of events for Disney fans? Is there room in this world for both?

I don't think they have an issue, yet. Maybe if 23 remains very successful for a few years then they might.

I am an NFFC member and each year there seemed to be more grumblings from members about the lack of new speakers and the quality of the seminars that are now being offered. (like a screening of Peter Pan??!??!) The proof will be with how many people from out of state will book this year's NFFC or go to the D23 Expo instead. But I haven't been too happy with the NFFC's current administration lately. Too many people looking to fulfill their own agendas.

My DH got me a membership as surprise, and my card came yesterday.

Still trying to decide whether or not I'll join. A few of my friends did; I'll wait to see whether or not their stuff looks worth the price.

I got mine

Read the fine print. It also provides for early admission into the D23 expo

It also clearly states it is NOT valid for discount admission into the parks

It also states that it is not replaceable if lost.

A question that I have that has not seemed to have been answered is...you get early admission into the Expo but do you have to buy multiple memberships for people in your household? Does that mean that your wife/girlfriend/boyfriend can not get in early because YOU'RE the member or is the whole household a member?

You guys will have to let us know what the special gift is. Everyone will probably get the same thing but you never know, maybe they will ship out different items. Depending on what you get, it might help make it worth it for some people who are on the fence about joining.

I think the anticipation on what the gift is as big as the anticipation of what Are You 23? is. I can just imagine the outrage if it turns out to be a pin or set of pins.
