Are you 23?

From the Terms & Conditions:

"If you enroll in the Program before December 31, 2009, you will be enrolled as a D23 Charter member and may receive additional benefits available only to Charter members (the "Charter" year of the Program is the calendar year 2009)."

Perhaps they won't announce any specific "Charter Member" benefits until it's too late to join to get them. Then it's a reward for demonstrating faith.

And loyalty.

Thanks, you said in a sentence what I was trying to say in several posts.

What better place than this to express what you would like to see from the club.

I already stated how I would want this merch concept to be handled. With the current $150 CND price tag for me to join it would take alot (and I mean alot) to convince m to join. Stuff like advance tickets to movies like Princess and the Frog, some serious discounts of various products from Blu-rays to park restaurants, to a private lounge at the parks. Some properly released film/TV titles at a reasonable price or even Song of the South released as a D23 edition would be great. But with hefty shipping prices, exchange rate and a lack of events anywhere near where I live it's a tough concept to sell to me. I'd rather they start from scratch, and do something similar with what I've mentioned earlier, I know lots of people would be happy to see that kind of stuff offered at DS.

Who said it was a sculpture?

Even more vauge.

The case with pins in it says "Walt Disney Archives", it's conceivable that the "collectible" will be a pin or pins...

Lame. That's all I have to say. An WDCC sculpture would be much nicer for that price.

For starters, I would like to have more a feeling of a club. For starters, when you pay the membership is it for an individual, or a family? So if we decide to go to the Expo, do I get the discounted tickets and not my partner, or do we both get the discount?

Besides the discount and a magazine subscription, what else do we get for $75?

Also, the website seems to be for public viewing, which is fine, but where is the member login, or content on the website that is exclusive for members? And what kind of content would that be?

It seems like everything is geared toward Disneyland and California residents. The first event is in Disneyland, the EXPO is across the street from Disneyland, and the screening for Up is in L.A. What about the rest of the country?

If there are benefits for Charter Members, why wait so long to announce them? I agree with most of the posters on this board that this is a disappointment but I am keeping optimistic that good things are to come. Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Great post. I'm not a Southern California resident, so why should I care?

If Im not mistaken the annual membership for the Walt Disney Collectors Society is LESS than $75 and you get a free WDCC sculpture. But I think a NICE free gift is usually a good enough incentive to get people to join. I think thats another way D23 dropped the ball with this launch.
I know that Disney does not produce the WDCC sculptures anymore but why don't the two clubs merge into one?

Maybe they are taking a wait and see approach to this Club. They may want to see what kind of response they get before they decide what benefits will be available

But they were willing to charge $75. Doesn't make sense to me.

Its less than they were going to charge originally.
Just because you pay now doesn't mean you won't get the other stuff as its added. And you get to lock in the $75 price, which WILL go higher.

(Yes, I know the international thing. I don't know if thats intentional or not, but I don't think it is.)

You have GOT to be kidding!:lol:

Either you work for them, or you are a apologist...

So...! What's still waiting for us in the magical world of D23?:lookaroun

Because I know how things work, I must be an apologist?
There are plenty of similar situations where the items are rolled in as they become available.
Why do you think they didn't announce what the 'gift' is? Its not because they don't know. Its because if something goes wrong with whatever it is, they can change it without people going 'but I really wanted a XYZ!!!'.

Even on this site. Do you think the perks for becoming a subscriber were all ready to go on Day 1 that subscriptions were offered? And that others weren't added? No, of course not.

I think I'll just order the D23 pin and necklace from Disney Movie rewards and pretend to be a member. The best of the benefits and none of the cost!

Wow, you make it sound even less attractive than it already is.

Can you do that?

That pin is really nice, no lie.

The Movie Rewards pin is nowhere near as nice as the one on Disneyshopping, but it's not bad.

The necklace is better.

Unlike Disneyshopping.com, Disney Movie rewards WILL let you purchase without being a member of D23. You have to be member of Movie Rewards, obviously.

DisneyShopping.com wn't allow you to purchase D23 merch unless you have a membership purchase on your account.

And yes, the pin is really nice... Ir's shiny! :dazzle:

:D
Monty, we really gott get you over this "shiny" fixation you have going on...:lol:

I'm starting to worry.
