Are you 23?

I'm a fan, Disney. Make me want to join your club. Bring it on.
It's interesting. We sound like we are on opposite sides, but when it comes down to it, this is exactly how I feel about D23 as well. :ROFLOL:

It is an interesting proposition, but I will probably wait until I can get my hands on one at a B&N this weekend.

Actually, I don't think the problem is that it turned out to be something we didn't expect. The problem is that (sadly) it did turn out to be what we expected.

Hey, if this is only the beginning, and it grows into something really cool for the fans, I have an open mind.

Exactly my sentiments.

Well said.

It is $75.00 now to join. Imagine if it grows into more? I can see this being $150 a year if that were to bethe case. I don't think they had the average Disney fan in mind when they created this, sadly.

Don't get your hopes up. I just went to the B&N on Sand Lake here in Orlando and when I first saw the "magazine" on the shelf, I thought it was a calendar by mistake. I leafed through it quickly, and even though I'm a huge disney nostalgia fan, it was easy to see it wasn't worth [to me] the $15+ they are charging for it. It had some great photography, and if it had been magazine priced, I might have jumped at it.

Can we please just have Vault Disney back on one of the Disney Channels?

This is rapidly growing into a PR nightmare for TWDC, whether anyone likes it, or cares to admit it or not.

Al Lutz has been teasing that he is stewing on an article for a couple days now. Should be due out any day now.

If he comes out steaming about it, I literally would expect noticeable changes in the thrust of the program and much public backpedaling within a matter of days.

Now that Disney fansites are linking to (and being supportive of) the tongue-in-cheek D64 club here at wdwmagic, this is something that can no longer be ignored.

EE and Servo, what are you going to do if Lutz mentions you in his article tomorrow?

Matpez is a part of us too!

Honestly, what can we do? I'm thrilled and shocked that this "joke" (it originally was!) got this much attention. Right now, D64 is what it is, a tongue in cheek jab at what TWDC thinks "fanboys" want.

Honestly, I don't think the company will freak out if Lutz mentions it. It would take Jim Hill, Lou Mongello, Matt Hochberg, Mike Scopa, Len Testa, Mike Newell, Deb Wills, etc. to get the ball really rolling. If all the big names in the community started mentioning it and making a big deal, something would happen.

Oh fine, leave Steve off the list.

Still, think that they know about D64? That's a scary thought!

I completely disagree.

It's A Small World. That's all I'm going to say.

They will file it with all the Adventuers Club petitions.

I think we have to wait for the convention before deciding if this is a failure or not. Just my take on it.

Say more, please!

Why do you think that TWDC would view this with such high regard?

Disney64 is tongue-in-cheek, yes, but there is a point to it.

I dunno...You might be right, but it's two different situations.

And what will the Expo prove?

THe Expo will prove how many people are willing to pay money for it and than actually show up to it. If it fails, D23 fails.

Al hit Small World right. The whole cloak and dagger thing about the reason the ride closed is what radiated so much with society. Since Disney didn't tell everyone that we (as a society) were too big to ride it anymore, it worked out great for Al's spill the beans style. I don't think this issue will prove to be similar at all. Kind of the same way his stance on the characters being added hasn't gained near the traction some might have thought it would've. Once again, just my opinion.

So what are you saying? That WDC will change D23 subtly to address this?

You lost me, sorry.

To clarify, I never called D23 a failure, just turning into a PR nightmare (even if on a small scale, for now). I respectfully challenge anyone to disagree with that.

I think if the Expo fails, they will have to adjust it. When you get right down to it, that is the biggest draw of thing. With Mousefest going on hiatus and Magic Meets being so limited, the Expo might actually turn into something huge.

Because Al's reporting of IASW prompted an unprecedented, public response from TWDC.

I see. MOST interesting. Now that I see where you are coming from, I'm all for it. It would be rewarding to finally have the WDC listen.

After that, I can hand them plans for EPCOT.:lookaroun:lol:
