Are you 23?

I will echo what Michael said with my face looking like this :fork: with a bit of :zipit: to keep me from saying certain things. I am leaning towards the fan club concept more & more it seems the most logical. Pixar would have their name on the poster if it had anything to do with them & Song of The South on DVD I hate to say will never happen.

It's my understanding that the 23 is, indeed, for the "fan club" discussed but it will be for the higher-end (or highest-end) Disney fans and likely price quite a few people out. I don't know whether an exact price tag has been associated with the club/program yet, but from what I've heard it'll be for those with a bit of extra cash on-hand.
Many of us might not be 23 after all. :D

So is Michael Jackson going to be the founding member?

I'm sorry but I don't see any sense in creating such a buildup for something that's going to be exclusionary.

Who's got that B.S. flag?

:ROFLOL: I would tend to agree. I'm just passing along what I've heard from peeps who tend to know a few things every once in a while. It also seems odd that Disney would be placing a high price tag on this when lots of people would love to join and times are tight for so many. Again, just passing along what I've heard. I'm hoping the BS flag is appropriate in this situation, as I'd like to join without breaking the bank. :)

As far as Michael Jackson, or Michael Jordan for that matter, I haven't heard anything about either one being associated with 23.

Same here!
I wish the would give the fans a break. We spend enough in the parks.

See I don't see this being a club, and I am definatly saying it's not Adventurers Club, Michael Jackson, or even Michael Jordan.

I am thinking Song of the South is a huuuuuuuuuuuuuugggggggggggggeee leap for Disney but it is the only thing I found relates to 23. I mean I wasn't an Obama supporter but with his election he shined the most light on this movie.

But I am betting since Tinker Bell is on the site where she poofs up the count down it's either;
1.A rerelease of a classic
2.A big theme park ride, expansion, or a brand new park.
3.Or something so out there that no one can guess it.

Saying that they releasing SotS because Obama was elected is in itself making a racist statement. Like saying 'hey, we let your guy win, so heres our slave movie!'

Its not SotS. How exactly does 23 fit into SotS? Because its been 23 years since last release? That doesn't make it 23 years old, its far older than that.

I don't think it was a "slave movie", I think that it was just done in a style that is portrayed by some people as racist. I think that what was meant by the Obama comment was that people won't be as easily offended now by the movie and will be more willing to see it with an open mind and a sense that, possibly, SotS wasn't meant to be racist. I think.

I think that Tinkerbell has become more than just a symbol of the films and parks, and I could definitely see her as a symbol for a new club.

The "Are you 23?" campaign thing still throws me though. Nothing we come up with really answers that question.

I know its not a 'slave movie'. But the logic that because Obama was elected, its ok to release it is ignorant, and deeply flawed. They should release it because they don't feel its racist, not because we elected a black president.

Thats all I'm trying to say. He can make the 'it was last released 23 years ago' argument all he wants, but there is no link to Obama, and he shouldn't be trying to make one. In a roundabout way, he is making a racist statement by relating the two.

I guess so. But are you being racist for thinking that he was racist, hmm?

Sorry there, just felt like I was possessed...

Sadly, any more political/racial talk will probably get this thread so far derailed that it will be locked, or nuked. Not saying anyone in here can't carry on a logical, reasonable discussion. It's just in the rule book that things like this are off limits because they usually don't end well.

If that is the case I'd defiantly invest the $100 +/- if they split the events between Disneyland and Disney World. I've been waiting for an Official fan club from Disney for half my life. The NFFC is nice but in recent years it's become a little to "collectors" top heavy for me.

However, this seems the kind of thing that would be getting a bigger promo for. Of course were still 60+ days out at this point so the promos for this might be waiting in the wings as I type.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

As to the source code of the page, there's no easter eggs to be found in that source code.

I really think the club idea makes the most sense. There's already a club 33 in the parks. If they were to do some sort of elite fan club then naming it club 23 would make sense. Similar in style to the other (secret) club and also the year it all started.

This also sounds like something (as long as its not uber expensive) that I would be extremely interested in being a member of. I'm wishing upon a star.

In a thread full of rainbows and unicorns, why is nobody asking this question:

Why did trojanjustin delete his posts?

:lookaroun

I heard from a very reliable source that 23 is a DVC ownership partnership with Walt Disney Parks and Resorts and it is going to be regional based entertainment and time share facilities that cater to the Disney fan. '23' is in reference to the point system of the DVC, where each entertainment opportunity or accommodation is worth 23 points. This special program will only be offered to DVC members, whom the Disney Co. consider to be the true Disney fans that respect and continue to live the Company's history and unrelenting message of family entertainment.

Hence 1923, the year the Disney Studios was founded. :animwink:

...or you could also live 90 miles away and not see any reason in the universe to pay tens of thousands of dollars for a timeshare an hour away from your house.

But yeah, if it's some DVC exclusive, that would blow monkey chunks.

Of all of this, the club idea is sounding the most logical to me. I'm not sure yet that we've come up with the reason it's "23", but the founding date of the company could be it.

I would be very surprised if this were DVC only -- they wouldn't put the campaign on the main Disney site if it were intended to be DVC only, I don't think.
