Magic Kingdom will be getting the Little Mermaid dark ride from DCA to anchor its Fantasyland redevelopment project. Animal Kingdom is being prepared (over the next 5-7 years) to be a host to a whole new type of park offering by Disney. The first signs of visible work on this larger project began with Expedition Everest (and its area's complex lighting package) and has been continued with Primevil Whirl during its most recent refurbishment. There is plenty more to come... :animwink:

Can you comment on the importance of the complex lighting system around EE? I didn't really notice when I was there last summer.

Heading for the great escape.
Universal may shoot in spurts, but if your emboldened text is correct it would appear that Disney has a gas stoppage, that it cant or wont clear.

Jam tomorrow is just promissory relief of hunger, and given the mediocrity of recent meals who to say that when service eventually starts the fayre will be edible.

Cranium Command won't reopen anytime soon, but that isn't to say it never could. Based on technical work alone, I wouldn't say its an impossibility just yet.

As for Body Wars, the simulators are still there but are in use after being annexed into the development range of the WDI offices behind the former pavilion. They have been used to perfect Star Tours 2 and for some other purposes in attraction development.

Mind you, Universal won't be getting anything majorly new after that for quite some time. Once the final phase of the Wizarding World is completed, their budget will be spent and Disney will have plenty of room to volley their responses for years to come. Just like always, Universal shoots in spurts while Disney fires in rapid succession.

Not very likely. Construction time to build up an entire land compared to rebuilding/reworking a pavilion is hardly similar. Animal Kingdom's expansion (when greenlit) will take at least a year and a half to be ready.

My answers are in bold next to the idea.

Star Tours II is still in production and post-production stages. It won't be imported into the simulators until Lucas gives his full approval on the entire work, meaning audio, video, effects and overall experience. Once post-production is complete, he should be testing the ride in a full mockup here in Florida.

...but everything is based on "Eventually," and we all know that nothing in Disney parks can be certain until its construction has begun.

I can totally vouch for the JII info, though. :D The time table is what's killing me.

In the long run, very important. As of right now, not so much.

I look at it as a reduction of expeditures, rather than a complete stoppage. Projects are still flowing at a decent pace (only slow based on the standards we have come to form after years of being treated to four-plus additions to the resort annually), unlike Universal who took years to install a new attraction in its second park alone. Disney will continue to offer fresh additions as long as they operate the parks, while Universal will continue to stagger their additions based on necessity.

True. Thats why I'm always hesitant to say what I do, because everything is always based on the "if" and "when." I don't jump on news nearly as much as I used to for that very reason.

Done? It hasn`t broken ground in Orlando yet.

IF it is fully greenlit, IF it isn`t frozen again and IF everything is thrown at it it could be open for October 2011.

It needs to be. Disney needs something big and new to draw in crowds. That would definitely do it.

They have plenty planned - it`s a case of Orlando spending the money to do it. Not 12 months ago the 40th anniversary was going to be E ticket heaven, and quite a few D rides too.

How awesome would it be if by the 40th, we got Little Mermaid at MK, Monster's Inc coaster at DHS and a reimagined JII at Epcot. All we'd need is for ground to be broken for Mysterious Island at AK and all would be right with the world...

If that happened, I'm pretty sure Kodak would pull its sponsorship.

That's why it didn't happen previously. However, it could be argued that Kodak's sponsorship has been bad for the park as it was on their request that Imagination was refurbed originally, wasn't it? They also wouldn't allow the initial Mt. Fuji concept to be added and sponsored by Fuji film.
