Do the places you go eat or the hotels do anything for anniversarys? Its just a 1 year anniversary but I am just curious as to what certain places will do, when you have to let them know, and what type of proof they need if any at all?

we actually just got back from our 5 year anniversary trip to WDW. When we checked into the Polynesian, we just asked for the Anniversary Buttons and no questions asked were given them. as for what is done, well not much.. we got little ice cream or cupcakes when we ate out and all the cast members were asking us how long we'd been hitched. the only free thing we got was a sprite at hurrican hannnas :)

Just a first anniversary?! That's a BIG anniversary! Congratulations!:sohappy:
I've spent one or two anniversaries at WDW (celebrating #15 this year) and I don't remember anything spectacular but you never know. But you can always make your own magic. Eat at a great restaurant (we're going to the Brown Derby on the Fantasmic package) and just have a ball.

I just back 2 weeks ago and my brother and sister in law were with me and it was their 2nd anniversary. They got free little desserts whenever we went out to eat. Tons of people saying happy anniversary. In their hotel rooom was a picture of Minnie and Mickey that was signed by them. They appreciated it...they never had so many people congratulate them on their anniversary haha

We celebrated our anniversary at WDW last year ad made sure that it was noted on our dining reservations. We had confetti on dinner tables, we got a happy anniversary card and dessert platter from boma, and we got free champagne glasses from the castle (i believe that it helped to get us a great window seat for two @ the castle).
We didn't need any proof and we didn't wear our buttons every night, they just made a note of it for us. It isn't a guarantee that you will get recongnized but it doesn't hurt to let someone know.

We stayed at GF in 2007 for our anniversary. About an hour after arrival a bellman brought us a tray with two small bottles of champagne, glasses, and a photo of Cinderella with the Prince signed personally to both of us. Besides congratulations being received from our button, we got a complimentary dessert at the CA Grill that said "Happy Anniversary" in chocolate. All nice touches for a great trip.

When I called my wife a few months before the actual date and asked her where she wanted to go for our anniversary trip her response was quick. "Duh...... WDW!"

We just got back from our 20th Anniversary trip a few weeks ago. Buttons were nice. Got them at check-in and we wore them all three days (not just anniversary day). Got lots of "Happy Anniversary" shouts from cast members and other guests as well. We've had birthday buttons for ourselves and other in our party on previous trips. Maybe I didn't notice it as much before. But with my wife and I wearing our buttons, we were getting tons of shout outs from everywhere. Many times, we were trying to figure out how that person saw our buttons. It was really strange, and nice.

The only real "bonus" was a room upgrade at Port Orleans French Quarter. We got a king bed room instead of a double. No special seats for rides/shows or freebies. I suppose it all depends on where you eat. We usually went counter service and I think we got a free chocolate brownie to share at Pizzafari.

Do make mention that it is an anniversary trip when you make your reservations and again when you check in. Some nice little touches may be left in your room.

Also, when you dine at some of the nicer restaurants...mentioning that it is an anniversary trip when making ADR's there are often some nice touches.
As was mentioned before, we received champagne flutes from Cinderella's castle. They make up a special menu and gave us a champagne toast at Artist Point. Other restaurants also offer nice touches.

If you go to Victoria and Alberts, every visit is special, but you get a personalized commemorative menu with your names and the event on it, and you could get a special desert as well....in addition to a fantastic meal together.

We are going in October with our kids and plan on also celebrating our 5 year anniversary while we are there. We both had first marriages that only lasted a year so this is a big deal for us and so far all is great. Will make sure to ask for the buttons.

ever since we got married on November 11, 2001, we go back to WDW for every anniversary since. The only exception was last year when my wife was 8 months pregnant. This year we are delaying the celebration until the 2nd week in December so we can enjoy the holiday festivities with the family. However, we are going to desperately miss the food and wine festival that is usually the highlight of our year. It was amazing how our anniversary coincided with the food and wine festival every year. We already have reservations for next November and December so we can hit the f&W + the christmas festivities next year. We can't wait.

We dined at the California Grill for our 1st year anniversary. We made no mention of our anniversary on any of our reservations but we did honeymoon there so maybe they keep a record of it. I remember being upset with my husband because he forgot to wear his button to dinner so I took mine off. When we got to the restaurant we were directed right to our table decorated with confetti with a beautiful view of the castle at the window. Somehow our wonderful server knew it was our anniversary and congratulated us. I told him how my husband forgot his button and he presented him with another during dinner. When we were done dinner, we were presented with this:

My husband also surprised me with this mini wedding cake at the California Grill on our engagement trip in 2004. He ordered it from the GF bakery. Maybe you can get one of those to celebrate.

We went for our anniversary last year DH had it noted on our reservations. They had our buttons ready for us at check-in. We had lots of nice surprises. Crystal Palace had a heart shaped with "pixie dust" on the table, At Boma we got a nice dessert tray with Happy Anniversary, Free Champagne at Brown Derby & Coral Reef, Cup cake and celebration at Chef Mickeys, Some very Special attention from Pluto at LTT and at the Beauty & the Beast show we were given a CD Return 2 Zero and sang to which was pretty neat. I love spending our anniversary there, we are doing it again this year.
Have fun & Happy Anniversary! :)

Here is what Disney did this past Sept. to help my wife and me celebrate our 5th wedding anniversary

First we were told our building at Poly was full so they had to free upgrade us to concierge Hawaii Building (wink wink) Anniversary Card from Mickey and Minnie

Besides the giant buttons

Crystal Palace: certificate signed by Pooh , Tigger , Eeyore & Piglet. Collectors pins and put mouse ear confetti in shape of a heart on our table

Cinderella's Royal Table : Champagne Flutes and a certificate signed by the Princesses

Cape May : Just a cake for two (didn't make sense for breakfast)

Chef Mickey's : Special placemats

Yachtsman : Menu's said Happy Anniversary at the top and we got to keep them. Special dessert and we are pretty sure they assigned their best waiter Oscar to us for the anniversary.

Peco Bill's : One free meal

Aerosmith RnR : 40 minute wait saw our pins gave us a fastpass for right then right to the front of the line no wait.

Ice Cream Vendor outside Aerosmith RnR : Saw our pins free Toolhouse Icecream Cookie and Water.

Cast Members : Just about every single cast member that saw our pins wished us a Happy Anniversary.

For our anniversary last year, we ate at Narcoossee's at the Grand Floridian. They prepared a personalized menu for us and presented us with a special desert that said Happy Anniversary in chocolate.

I suggest calling Disney Dining and tell them what you are looking for. They can help you make it special.

My hubby and I are celebrating our 25th anniversary next year at WDW! I can't wait! We decided to bring our kids with us and make it a family affair. We're also going to be making the trip with my BFF and her family. We'll probably have 10 in all. It will be a blast!

My hubby isn't a big WDW fan  but ne knows how much me and our kids love it. I can't imagine celebrating my 25th anniversary anywhere else. :sohappy::sohappy::sohappy::sohappy:

You Pittsburghers always want hand outs. :cry:Pay for my hockey team, fix my bridges so they don't collapse, stop the drink tax, lower property tax, make the Pirates win, don't let the Steelers be sold, don't let us become Cleveland, make a beltway around the city so I don't have to drive THROUGH downtown to get to the other side, make the Penguins pay for the Hill District, we need a 6th Superbowl and freebies at Disney!!!!

Just kidding, I am from Pgh and I just called Disney the other day and in an awkward manner let them know it was my anniversary in Sept, and so if they wanted to do anything you know just a heads up. I hope I get cool stuff! Should have done it like Anchorman..."I don't know if you know this but I'm a pretty big deal....":sohappy::lol:
