A MySpace bulletin was sent out by a musician named Chinua Hawk that says that American Idol season 7 semifinalist Luke Menard has been diagnosed with inoperable cancer and is currently in stage 2. That's truly awful and it just emphasizes that there are many important things in life that go beyond a silly television show. Make sure to leave Luke some words of encouragement from the Worsters at http://www.myspace.com/chaptersix or send him an e-mail at luke@chapter6.com. In times like these, it's always great to hear positive words.

I was never into this season as I have been in the past, and I haven't watched in three weeks now (except flipping during commercials from baseball). I tried to get into it, and I liked Jason, but I wasn't overly crazy about anybody, and I stopped watching even before he got kicked off.

One thing I did see was Fantasia's performance. I liked LaToya and Jennifer Hudson, and never liked her...her career is practically nonexistent, IMO, and of course there those were articles about her lack of professionalism while doing The Color Purple on Broadway. I must admit, that performance was the highlight of the season for me...for all the wrong reasons!

A clip has been posted of Simon on Ellen talking about the performance and his priceless reaction to it...good stuff.

I'll probably flip to it tonight, but I am not dying to see it or anything (my big show for the night is the DWTS finale).

I can't see myself watching at all after this season..just too much going on. I watch about 3 or 4 different shows regularly with the help of DVR, and that's it.

The boxing analogy is getting tired real quick.

I disagree with the judges Round one was definitely David C's.

Wow Simon just needs to shut his pie hole. David C. has done great. Archuleta's second song stunk imo, I could have totally heard Cook's song on the radio right now. Obviously they want it to go Archie's way tonight.

For all three songs David C did better. I didn't like Archie's take on Imagine the first time he butchered it and my opinion hasn't improved. There were a number of performances he did much better with if he wanted to repeat one of them. Cook won the night hands down, I can only guess the judges were attempting reverse psychology.

Agreed.

Of course they didn't criticize his decision to do a song he's already sang. Afraid to take chances unlike Cook who is very authentic.

I do agree David Cook second song kicked ______.

But I'll say David A wins

I really want Cook to win, he is SOOOO much better. I'm almost afraid to watch it tomorrow after the comments from the judges.

I'm with you...I thought David A. did a much better job tonight.

I did have to disagree with their take on Cook's second song though...I thought it was really decent and it did sound like something I'd hear on the radio right now though.

Still, I think David A. did win the night. I thought his performances were more solid.

My take:

I think DA got a MUCH better song choice than DC did in round 1. Clive really picked a monotone, uninteresting U2 song for DC and then picked a perfect fit for DA. Then in song 2, how can you really say there was a winner with the corny songs? At least DC did something different and then gets critized for not fitting the formula. And then DC actually picked a new song to close and then DA re did a previous song. Granted DA probably had the best night of the season tonight, but he was predictable and safe.
