I hope Blake doesn't last as long as I think he will.
His beatboxing is driving me INSANE.
off subject, but I remember Blake saying he wasn't going to beatbox much as this is a singing contest. However he has beatboxed every week since that announcement.

The beatboxing is okay at times but will get old. He has a good voice.

I agree!
Randy encouraged Blake to return to the beatboxing after his rendition of Keane's "Somewhere Only We Know". I think he did a great job on that song and hope to see more of that type of thing. The beatboxing will appeal to some, but he's got more to offer!

There's a fine line between being unique and being irritating. IMO Blake seems to be tending toward the latter too far. Beatboxing is intriguing, but it won't be enough for him to win. If he concentrates on singing, he's good, but not in the same league as others.

If America is honest and votes on singing talent and variety in presentation, Lakisha will win [she's sung a variety of genres and did a superb job on Whitney, where others fear to tread]. If they concentrate purely on talent, Melinda will win [she's been staying in a very tight box of singing "Standards" well, but hasn't shown much "Pop" appeal]. If they concentrate on presentation and style, Gina has the best shot [she's finally figured out that if she has fun, the audience does too]. And lastly, if they concentrate on heart, Chris Sligh is the front-runner [he puts more of himself into the songs than anyone else, but he's too focused on one genre...].

Of course, I don't get a vote...

I think Blake will lose the beatboxing as the show moves along. At least I hope so. I think his voice is good enough to keep him around for a while.
I agree with the rest of your analysis.
It all comes down to what the voting audience is looking for. The vote could really split!

My Entry

1. Melinda Doolittle
2. Blake Lewis
3. Lakisha Jones
4. Gina Glocksen
5. Chris Richardson
6. Jordan Sparks
7. Chris Sligh
8. Stephanie Edwards
9. Sanjaya Malakar
10. Phil Stacey
11. Haley Scarnato
12. Brandon Rogers

This year, my three favorites are Stephanie, Melinda and Lakisha (especially Stephanie). Three African American women who sing similar genres. Based on VFTW results and the judge's comments, it is obvious that Melinda is the most popular, while Stephanie is the least popular of the three. As much as I want Stephanie to become the next idol, she just isn't popular compared to the others.

I know!
He did ONE song with no beatboxing, and I loved it! I even voted for him.
When he does the beatboxing, I just wanna hit MUTE till its over. :lookaroun

Are we going to have another one after this week?

Either way, here's to hoping that Senjaya will be kicked off this week! I swear, he makes Mikala Gordon seem like Carrie Underwood by comparison.

The picks for this week are for the whole game. The game will continue, but with these same picks.

It may be a long shot, but I think Jordin might pull more of the younger vote and Melinda and Lakisha may cancel each other out. I have no idea what I'm talking about.

1 Jordin Sparks
2 Melinda Doolittle
3 Lakisha Jones
4 Blake Lewis
5 Chris Richardson
6 Chris Sligh
7 Phil Stacey
8 Gina Glocksen
9 Stephanie Edwards
10 Haley Scarnato
11 Brandon Rogers
12 Sanjaya Malakar

Sorry dude, had to get your guesses in before the start of today's show. You're a couple hours too late!

Not old, just vintage.
Well, within the next 20 minutes or so we will all know who got tossed this week. *fingers crossed that Sanjaya gets the boot*

Well, if Haley goes next week, DonaldDoleWhip maintains his lead, but a number stay one away, but if Sanjaya leaves, I jump into the lead...

Sadly, I have a feeling VFTW will manage to mess that dream up...
