There's another thread about this somewhere... people are raising the "BS flag" lol. Not sure if that particular source isn't reliable (that's what everyone seems to be saying)... if this is true, I'm glad we saw this last week. IJ is one of DH's favorite franchises (except for the last movie lol)

I asked my friend about that one tonight (same one who told me about AIE) and they know nothing about it. They don't think Indy is closing (at least not in the short term).

Personally, besides the cost of the show, I don't know why they would close it. It's a huge guest favorite, always plays to a packed house, eats capacity, is Indy's only presence at WDW, and fits with the "Lucas" theme of the area. Closing only means TDO is too cheap and Imagineering hasn't been given the budget they need (or aren't imaginative enough) to look elsewhere for the land for SW.

If the area around Echo Lake is used as anything but the entrance to a larger Star Wars Land, then this will be an epic fail. Just putting a few attractions around the lake and calling it the Star Wars area would be a joke. The franchise deserves much better than that.

No matter what you were going to do with the land Indy sits on, I'm not sure any replacement would actually be a plus.

Indy was proposed to have closed last January.

This project is so fluid (for want of a word not derogatory) things are still changing regularly.

Whilst I wouldn't be surprised if it was announced (and a bit sad) I've not heard anything saying its back on the table at the moment. For what its worth.

Certainly, Disney is planning future Indiana Jones movies. Even if they were to pull the stunt show, Indy would have a presence in the parks somewhere.

Plus the annoucement regarding the closing mentioned the contract was coming to an end between Disney and the media company that owns AI.

Well it just has to go. I always considered it quite an abomination in a Disney park and even an empty show building would be better than the present function.

I'm sure they are, but we are at least five years away from an Indy movie. At least.

It is a more difficult franchise to push forward than Star Wars because it is solely focused on Harrison Ford and his portrayal of that persona. They have to recast, treat it like James Bond... But how audiences will react is unknown.

I agree with this. Indy is a pretty solid show still. It could probably use an update, but for people who haven't seen it or haven't seen it in a while it's still really good. I took my kids this past year and they loved it. They hadn't even seen the movies before that, but have watched them since.

If they are closing Indy to make room for an Indy ride or StarWarsLand I could live with it, but they better not close it and leave the area abandoned or only use it for special events like its part of EPCOT or something. Don't they still use it for the cheerleading competition? DHS is severely lacking attractions already. I still think they might need to build something new over by Pixar Place before closing Indy in order to absorb the crowds. If not the place will really be hurting (even more than it is) for several years during construction. AIE could close tomorrow and very few people would care. Indy isn't in the same boat.

Wouldn't updating an IJ live show be like the remake and re-release of the original StarWars trilogy.....WHY

I totally agree that in DHS current state it can't afford to lose Mr Indy straight away. If it is doomed i can't see us losing the show until phase two of whatever reimagineering we are to receive. That would just wouldn't be logical.

Mater's Junkyard Jamboree from Cars Land maybe?
I suppose, however IMO any Cars attractions outside of the Carsland itself will not work thematically, especially RSR. However, they can use the MJJ technology for something exactly like that, perhaps scurrying rodents or bugs life bugs

Thank god! This show has been a joke since the day it premiered. And yeah, it is pretty sad when an empty building is a far more preferable option than the attraction its self.
