American Idol Experience To Close

Just dropping in to sorta back you up.

That site is still earmarked for SW expansion. But I don't believe this has anything to do with that right now. I believe the original contract was for three years (would have to check with folks on the left coast and I really don't care enough to do so), so it would make sense that the last three year deal is ending in early 2015.

The attraction, which was very well done (and I hate the whole song contest/reality TV genre), was never close to being as popular as Disney hoped. And now the TV show is on its last legs (I still think it likely has 2-3 seasons left barring a miraculous uptick in popularity). The land was going to be used for SW anyway, so (much like the subs at DL) WDW can save a pretty penny by adding more dead space to a park full of it. Maybe they'll put some temporary SW attraction in there for next spring ... who knows?

But I wouldn't take this as any sign that SW expansion is imminent. Wish it was, but it isn't.
5 year contract expiring in February.

I believe the stunt show area plus a little extra would be enough room for radiator springs if it was in DHS future.

I don't think Indiana Jones would be removed for star wars land. It seems Backlot Express(Cantina) would be beginning of that boundary then all the way over to the theater where they hold SWW shows, then up to SD/American Idol theatre. May they rest in many, many pieces.

Ideally they would give up on Backlot tour/Streets of America and give all that area to Pixar - radiator springs/Star Wars lands to grow in to.

It wouldn't make sense though to have Carsland be where Indy is instead of near Pixar Place. Also,Indy will most likely be part of the SW site if infact they do take over the AIE and BE areas, as there would not be enough walking room + showbuildings

Right, I meant stunt show as in Lights Motor Action. That and streets is plenty room for Cars.

Not having Indy would be a hard sell. Unless they made it star wars behind scenes/stunt related. Plus they use that stage for other things like competitions and such.

Hollywood Studios doesn't need Radiator Springs Racers. It needs an identity overhaul, refocus of the park, and a half dozen C-D tickets.
Agree for the most part, because it already has 2-3 e-tickets, depending on who you talk to. We just need a better reason to spend a day there
And yah, it needs to be clear whether or not this is a park to experience the mythical realms created by Hollywood, a trip to the Hollywood that never was, or a behind the scenes showing you how movie magic works. Right now it is all 3.

They have premier theater for the special stuff, and I don't know how much Indy will be misssed. But i see your point

Yes and no. Premier can only do so much. And companies rent out the Indy area and
I've seen extra tents set up back there for competitions before. Stuff the Premiere can't hold. Granted it's stuff that could be moved to EPCOTs old mellenium area like Pop Warner is, but I'm sure the access to DHS is favored in some instances.

Right, that was "if" it is in DHS future. Only reason to believe it might be is that Lights is getting dated and Pixar has a footing in the adjacent area.

I agree. I am just tired of this park being the "stuff things that don't fit anywhere else" park. They need to fix that before it gets too far gone.

They have four great attractions in DHS that any theme park would be proud of. The rest however is a mess.

Right now I'm playing a guessing game on what the 4th is...

Granted there aren't too many options...

-In Order-
1. Tower of Terror
2. Star Tours
3. Rock N Rollercoaster
4. Toy Story Mania

People on here can find fault with the lower two, but no denying they have extreme popularity.

For the record, I would take those four rides over the four best rides at Epcot.

How can you not include The Great Movie Ride? It's pretty much the main ride in the park themed to movies. Sure it could use an update but it definitely deserves to be on the list.

Lets through the Backlot Tour in too, it embodys the park!
Now lets add...oh.

Haha jk I agree with you the only thing is that there is no real wow factor anymore and has that neglected feel, at least IMO. Yet the ride is still so loveable!!!:D:D
