American Idol details plus concept art

Yeah, I agree with this. I once saw a girl cry for three hours straight at a Harry Potter book release party because she lost the costume contest. She looked to be about 15 or 16 years old.

Hmmm, I keep hearing about this "hurt feelings" scam. Please spare me. If a 16 year old can't handle losing an HP costume contest then maybe it exposes her parents are failing and this event will cause them to get her the help that is needed. So then losing can actually be productive.

I have not seen an attraction announcement ge this much coverage in years...

I went to my doctors office this morning to get refill on ambien (I get insomnia when all isn't well at Epcot) and this was the top news story on several major networks on the talk TV.

Scary.

I told you guys. That's the main (possibly even the "only") reason this attraction is going in.

One redeeming feature of this is that it will be something that actually has some connection to actual PRODUCTION again at the Studios. While it's not like they will be filming the show there, it has a direct link to the show (and filming could be possible for auditions). One thing that could bring life to the Studios again would be if they were actually using it for production and therefore it became a working studio again.

I guess Disney/ABC had to get into the American Idol act somehow. It was ABC who originally passed twice on a "talent show" that they said would amount to nothing and be just a fad. Oh what was that show called? Yeah, that's right American Idol.

American Idol, while not everyone's favorite show, is unquestionably popular. A studio-based attraction unquestionably fits in a park called Disney Hollywood Studios. It will probably be a lot of fun.

I would really this rather not be in a Disney theme park park because I've always felt Idol has had a level of sleaze and exploitation to it that just isn't okay.. like.. they're whoring-out unrefined talent. Simon Cowel is a glorified madame.

So what does that make Simon Fuller, Paula and Randy?

Off topic, but do you have any idea what the giant construction project is on the old 20K site that just started?

Ugh. I've never watched American Idol, and I have no intention of doing so while on vacation.

Why would I want to pay $$$ to WDW in order to watch inexperienced people sing in a non-show???

I'll be staying far, far away from this one.

But Disney wouldn't want any kind of outbursts of emotion like that happening during the show either way. I'm sure some odd guests would enjoy it, but I'd feel pretty uncomfortable watching it. Again, I am sure they are taking the appropriate measures to ensure that the critiques are fair, but not harsh. (Which brings up the contradiction that outbursts of emotion are a huge draw for AI and are closely associated with the show)

I wonder where the final show of the day will take place? In the theater itself, or somewhere else in the park? Fantasmic, maybe?

I don't know if anyone has said it yet, but I regardless of whether it's good for DHS, I think it would've been great for Pleasure Island...

Like high school musical isn't about exploitatation  Disney is about taking advantage of the next big thing, which Idol is. It makes sense....

You will be suprised how many experienced people show up for this show, hoping for a big break. I beat even Disney stage show singers show up....

The first round auditions are actually with Idol producers who intentionally weed out the best professional and near-professional singers - trust me, the best people DO NOT make it in front of Randy, Paula, and Simon.
