All Star Resorts

Was wondering if anyone had a bad experience like mine at the All Star Music Resort. Just got back on Friday from WDW. We stayed on the first floor in the Calypso section. We heard our neighbor above us urinating in the toilet!!??!! Has anyone else had a problem with sound proofed rooms? I still like the ambiance there and the price is right. Any other negative experiences I should look out for? I have mixed feelings about going back to the ASM in December now. :brick:

oooh OKW is gorgeous.. as a teaser, the bedroom we slept in had its own balcony, and a full jacuzzi tub that separated from the bedroom w/ a wall that has a window..

then the bathroom itself is connected to it as well, with a shower in the bathroom (enclosed glass)...

washer & dryer inside the room as well (great for long stays)

u should check it out one day, but most of that stuff is in the big rooms..

Not really... I do enjoy PO - However, in the interest of staying somewhere new, Freak did say CS was nice. I've never stayed at CB, but I used to hear so many bug rumors that I'm not really sure about it!

BUGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :( :( :lookaroun :lookaroun I Am not into the whole bug thing. Coronado is really gorgeous, and the Maya Grill has a pretty good all you can eat breakfast. Of course there is always the food court, the Pepper Market. Although NOTHING beats Boatwright's at DL for breakfast. Well I am easy as I said before. Any thoughts from Freak?? Belle

Trip Planning

Miss Belle, Cymbal and the rest, Sorry to interrupt your trip planning, which I've been following from afar ,but do you know that the Pepper Market (the last time I was there) took the liberty of adding a TIP onto my bill. I think that's a little unbelievable for a food court. The Maya Grill is not a Disney owned restaurant and I felt that the attitude there was not as Disney as it could have been. That was our one and only trip to CS. DL was and always will be the best of the moderates and Boatwrights is a must visit on each of our trips. I hope that all of you have a great time. I'll be looking forward to reading your trip reports. Hope you don't mine me sticking my nose into your conversations.

not in the slightest Elaine and I thank you for your input!!! Actually if you want to come along, please feel free!!! The more the merrier especially when it comes to my fellow WDWMagic forum people!! Right now we are looking at the week of the 18/19th ish in May. My Birthday is on the 25th, but that might be a tad too close to Memorial Day and I know all the kids get out of school then in Florida. If anyone out there has the current school schedule please chime in!!! And Actually Cymbal, Elaine is absolutely correct regarding the Pepper Market. There is a 10 percent gratuity added onto your food bill for the "limited" table service provided which consists of giving you silverware wrapped in a napkin, beverage fill ups(which you are charged for) and cleanup of your tray. I thought the Maya Grill was a far better alternative to the Pepper Market. The Food was better and as previously mentioned if Richie goes, he doesnt d particularly well in food courts at all. They try his patience usually before he has had his first cup of coffee!!!! I find he does VERY well after breakfast at Boatwright's!!! Belle

Caribbean Beach

I can't beleive you feel that way about the CB!!!!! That's the only moderate I will stay at. I love the atmosphere, the rooms are bigger than the other resorts and no matter what view we've had, the place is just magnificent........I'd like to know if anybody has stayed there since theyve reopen......that's where I'm staying next year! The Polynesian is my favorite hotel, then the Wilderness Lodge and then the Caribbean Beach!!! Don't diss that place it's lovely!

Kenny we werent talking about the Carribean, the resort we are referring to is the CS (Coronado Springs). I have been to the Carribean and it was a very nice resort. I think I still dig PO Riverside better though. Just personal taste for that though. Id certainly stay at the Carribean if that is what everyone wants to do in the up coming trip. Wanna join us?? Here's the calender for Orange County Public Schools:

I'm sure the others in Florida are very similar. You may have to copy and paste the above link, sorry.

Yeah Belle you're right. I don't know what happened to that link. It somehow got jumbled up. Sorry about that. You're also right about the Florida public school dates. Most end of year dates seem to be during the week of the 18th. I'm thinking about going during that time frame but I want to check out a few things first. Since that is "regular" season the only discount I have found so far is 15% on Disney Moderate Resorts via the Disney Club. I want to wait a little longer and see if www.mousesavers.com posts any other discounts after the 1st of the year. I'm also looking into maybe buying a weeks worth of points at a DVC resort if the price is right. There's plenty of time to decide since WDW advance reservations are still way down. I'll let you know if I find anything worthwhile.

Thanks Woody and I know I speak for all of us vacation planners!!!! We are always on the lookout for a good deal, and so far the Moderates seem to have the vote for May. Have you ever been to any of them? I have stayed at all 4 but would love to hear your opinion.
Although I have to tell you being not so cool with the bug thing, your avatar is doing a good job of giving me the heebee jeebees!!!:lookaroun :lookaroun :lookaroun Belle

Yes Belle I have stayed at a few of the Moderates. I stayed at the Coronado Springs Resort a few years ago and also at the Dixie Landings Resort. I think the Dixie Landings is now called the Port Orleans Resort. Anyway, I liked Dixie Landings. It was great, but the Coronado Springs did not meet my expectations. It seems that the Coronado Springs is set up for conventions and business people but not for regular vacation travelers. I have no intention of staying at Coronado Springs again. I want to also check out the possibility of staying at one of the Epcot Resorts. I understand they have some really good discounts for teachers but I have not gotten any of the details as of yet. I'm just keeping my options open right now until I can lock into a good deal. I have a close friend who works as a travel agent and she has informed me that with all the many travel disruptions (airline bankruptcies, worries about the economy, cruise ship sickness, etc.) that WDW is putting together incentives (discounts) to keep their market share. So I just have to wait a little bit and see what shakes out!

well if you look at the prices of the Moderates, they are already lower than last year. I thought that was kind of odd, but I guess with the economy being what it is..... Belle

Awww...*yawns and stretches*

I'm finally back from the freaky hibernation.

Ok, back to the matter at hand. Coronado is nice...beautiful in fact...but...it is the furthest away from the "action" (That is the only downfall that I can see...and the PepperMarket does add a 10% gratuity for giving you silverware, showing you to your seats, and getting your cups. (which I think is ridiculous). I haven't been to Caribbean Beach since they did the rehab of it but when I was there a while ago, I absolutely loved it. (It's kinda sad though because they used to let you swim in the lake...yes, I'm going back to the first year it opened...but I've been since that).

well I would kinda like to check out the rehab at the Carribean, plus I had read somewhere that they were putting in a sit down restaurant which would serve dinner and breakfast both, as opposed to just dinner, which is what the old one did. Allright so I think we have it narrowed down to one of three resorts
Carribean, Coronado, and PO Riverside. I would include PO French Quarter but they dont have a sit down restaurant any more and it is the smallest of the moderates. Cute theme though and not a bad walk over to PO Riverside, if we cant all get rooms at Riverside. I cant imagine that though if we act early enough. As I have said before, plan plan and plan some more!!!

I thought when you were complaiing about bugs, you were talking about the CB because we did hit bugs but on the outside of the rooms! They actually have some very interesting bugs!!! LOL, I would love to join you but I just got back and I have to wait until next year beause we're going to do the 7 day Disney cruise and we would like to stay at least a few days before we leave, have to try the new mission to mars!!! And Tarzan Rocks because even though we've been there a hundred times,we always somehow manage to miss that show!! If anyone has gone to the CB since the renovation, I really would like to know what they've done. I like the idea of a sit down breakfast, that would be great!~ :sohappy:

Goodness - I'm gone for a day or so and look at ll the conversation! :sohappy:

Thanks a lot for your input Elaine - I was aware that Pepper Market adds a tip to the bill (which troubles me BTW), but I didn't know that the Maya Grill isn't a Disney owned restaurant. I believe that troubles me also....

I'm the one who said something about the bugs at CB...I've never stayed there, but I read that some guests had them in their rooms - I really do hope I'm wrong!

WDWFREAK53 - Glad you finally joined the conversation! :animwink: I didn't realize that it was hibernation season for "Freaks"!
