All EPCOT Center, All the Time- Part II

Nope. Africa was supposed to go where the Oasis snackbar is ... that's an expansion pad back there.

It died pretty soon after it was designed, but DAK killed any hopes of it ever coming back in any form.

Oh, I see it now. The original park concept art didn't feature Norway and left all of that space open. Basically a reference to the 1982 souvenir book. It would have been nice to see still.

Agreed! But I would like to see the entire inside and the theater and gutted. The must keep Figgy in some form. I wouldn't mind if they took him out of the ride if they did the following.

1. The new ride sticks with the theme of imagination.
2. It's something new and innovative.
3. It is a good ride that people will actually go on.
4. No character insertion unless it a new one.
5. FIGMENT WOULD HAVE TO STAR IN A NEW 3D FILM!
I agree...

....I know this might be a bit outlandish, but honestly, why not tie WDI and Imagineering into it?:o It sounds like quite the place for it..
Yep. The first 11 minutes until my battery went flat :(

A remastered version with source audio - and info about the bubble sculpture and plastic triangles (!) - will be part of a new release at Mousebits very soon ;)
Very very cool!:D

Oy...Trangles!?:lookaroun:lol:

Gut the ride and make it totally different.

Epcot needs a water ride. (also DHS, are you listening?)

Strangely, you and I want the same thing for different reasons. I agree that the current ride isn't at all relevant to imagination like the original was. I want the current ride gone too, replaced with something fantastic like JII was back in the 80s. Whatever form it ends up taking, it darn well better feature Dreamfinder and the original, non-pesky Figment. Because, as you said, they have a tremendous following among us EPCOT die hards.

No in WS. JII is sorta hard to think about. I don't know what could go here. I'm probably biased because I'd rather have some thrill in Epcot, but I wasn't expecting Soarin' to blow me away so much. So, I trust whatever WDI have in store for that mess.

You'd think there'd be some kind of ride in France since countless Disney movies are set in France and all were hits.....

Don't badmouth a attraction that was solely created as a response of good will to a even worse one. Budgeting also comes into play. JIYIwF is not a mess. JIYI was.

And France? I have always thought of a French Revolution Ride Through...:lookaroun:D

Well said but JIYIYwF still falls flat. It has lost the ability to attract guests to it and it really leaves lots of empty space. The ride itself is okay but it lacks what the pavilion ultimately needs, and that is imagination.

You would, had it not been built in 1982. If no one will pay to update the film you don`t think a new ride would be built do you?

Odyssey, as said elsewhere, isn`t going anywhere due to its construction technique. There again, it could be reopened as it used to be. Radical, I know.

There is still so much under utilised and unused space - Energy, Life, Odyssey, Imagination, Germany, Japan.... this park could offer so much more for the smallest outlay. Again, as said elsewhere.

Yes Germany and Japan especially just baffle me. By now there really should be something more to those two but, as always no one wants to pay for anything, which is why there is not a brand new country by now I guess and why SE remains unfinished.
Everytime Im in Japan I always hear someone say isnt there a ride back here?

Why did the concept of Africa never took off?

I never could understand that, since they were so ready according to EPCOT Center's opening day ceremony...

Yep. Equatorial Africa was to be right where the Oasis is. There was a large chunk of land between Mexico and China those first six years. The Equatorial Africa "coming soon" sign only lasted a short while that first year.

Why did the concept of Africa never took off?

At the time there was a lot of political upheavel (not that there isn't now) within the countries they were vying for sponsorship. I've always thought that Morocco pretty much filled the "Equatorial Africa" pavilion.

MILF- lol, what an acronym... next ride coming to Ecpot is Belle's Outstanding Orchestra Buffet ().... :ROFLOL::shrug:

Does anyone else think they should rename Future World into something more fitting like Present World

I would say "Yes, there is. Just wish REALLY hard." :lookaroun

And while on topic of unused spaces, that space between Germasnny & the Outpost is amazing.

Screw the event space for it, build something on it!

I am tiring of Captain Hook & Tick Tock there twice already! And I want my Cam to take a pic of something wonderful there besides grass!
