WoM was an omnimover dark ride with a vehicle similar in design to JII, except it was omnimover instead of in a train. Part of the ride went outdoors after the loading area and then into the history of transportation. It even included an effect like the hitchhiking ghosts at HM where your vehicle became a car of tomorrow. I really did like it, but have to admit that Test Track is better.

As for UoE, it was pretty much the same as it is now except not nearly as enjoyable. Ellen's Energy Adventure was a huge improvement in terms of entertainment value, as was Nemo to The Living Seas ride portion.

I always thought that The Living Seas was extremely boring as a kid.

As for SSE, I remember Cronkite as the narrator and it was very good. The thing I remember the most about that version was the giant green computer cube that you looked at as Tomorrow's Child started playing. Good times, but the Irons version was much better overall. I liked Cronkite better as a narrator, but the Irons version overall was better. The current one I still think is very good, but the script is geared towards 8 year olds and the lack of a real ending is disappointing.

I still like it though...
Well, I know that ...I remember aspects of the ride, not the whole thing like Horizons or JII.
:D
Speaking of those two, I always loved the intro movie for TLS, and the CoP tie in during Horizons!
Agreed again! So provocative and so forward that Pre Show was...Good narrator, too.

CoP II....Horizons was awesome. It's just a fact.

I saw this somewhere else to but you know we are always picking on the fact of update and change. Then they answer our plea and we get mad at them for it? Is this correct? I mean they had to update Horizons at some point, right. I think that We just want what we really don't care for, like a 2 year old. Yes I just offended everyone including myself. But 2 year olds also have a great imagination so who cares!

I think most people are ok with updates and refurbs, its when they kill the essence of the ride that people get mad.

Case in point, JII.

The removal of Figment and Dreamfinder and the sterilization of the ride itself killed what was so good about it. It became a cheap farce, the exact opposite of Imagination. Which is why it came to be known as "Journey Into Your (complete lack of) Imagination". The stop gap version they have now is ok, but not a true successsor to the orginal.

Exactly. The way the history of JII works can actually be worked out in an tier system pretty much everyone agrees on

God Tier: Original
Adequate Tier: Current
Delgo/Crap Tier: JIYI

Not really. With amazing buildings you see today, JII pavillion lacks in uniqueness. With the technology these days, that area could be astonishing, but instead it is like the dollar store on the bad side of town that sells junk.
Massive ride space, 2 spaceframe pyramids, a fully open atrium lobby (no, really) plus 2 full size theatres.... seems fine by me.

Did you ever see it pre 1998?

I remember it. Granted, I was a kid and probably have it merged with some later changes but it was my favorite ride in all of Disney. I know I'm gonna miss the original so much

I'm leaving in 31 days to see it new for the first time in 10 years.

Yep. Like I said if you do not compare the old one to this one, this one seems fine. Cute C Tic....

...Hard to do, but do-able...I do it every trip.:o

I think there's the problem: the building and pavilion itself has the potential... its just not utilized. One does forget the architecture and much more open, creative design that was so prevalent in the 80's and early 90's.

Exactly. They've just dumbed it down. At least we still have the outside portion that is always stunning.

Ever notice how watchful those CMs are when someone nears the rope upstairs?
Yes...Very much so.:lookaroun

Well don't feel like you have to stop by too often. You and the "new generation" can feel free to leave boring old EPCOT to the adults.

I am 14 and I find Epcot to be my favorite park, since I was little I have always wanted to go to Epcot the most on my vacations to WDW.

OK, weird question.

The outside mini-pyramid, how many times did it ever changed over the years?

I recall it being colored from a photo of my grandmother in 1984...

I'm pretty sure it's been white the whole time. Thye just color it with lights.

What, in the fountain? No idea. I do know that it's not the original....There used to be a wierd bubble structure there.

That bubble structure didn't last long, and it really didn't fit the architecture of the pavilion. I like the "mini" pyramid. To be honest, I don't really remember the bubble structure even back in our trip in 1982.

I agree. However, there were quite a few Hidden Mickey's in the bubble structure that would've been fun to look for. :)

I'm pretty sure I've seen pics with little colored plaques in it.

And I agree. The Mini Pyramids are nicer- it' finishes the pavilions motif off very nicely.

I'll have to look at my "archives." I'm not sure I've seen them with plaques. Seems counter intuitive for a sculpture that's going to get wet. More cleaning, if you ask me.

Not saying you're incorrect, I just don't recall....but then again, my brain gets fuzzy from time to time. :lookaroun

Scar of course. Remember when he thought they should take Gertie down because HERP NOBODY KNOWS ABOUT HER?

LOL just because you disagree with my opinions means I derail every thread? :ROFLOL: you really need to practice what you preach. This is all Epcot not DHS, so please stop "derailing" this thread.

I am part of the next generation of fans and I dislike the whole Imagination pavillion. SUE ME. That place is garbage! I happen to think Epcot is a decent park with flaws, but which park doesn't have flaws?

An imagination pavillion should be very imaginative. A glass pyramid? Really? Is that supposed to get a "wow" out of me? How about something more dynamic that can last a long time without people brushing it off? Most people do brush it off already. All the times I've been to Epcot Figment always had a constant "No-Wait" period. Even 3 Caballeros had a 10 minute wait! HiStA is a joke of a 3D show and could be so much better.

Just because you disgaree with my opinions doesn't give you the right to imply your opinions are better than mine. And I guess people here don't realize people want new things and new thrills (not throwbacks). Many adults I know disliked Epcot A LOT because it was too much like a classroom than a theme park.
