All EPCOT Center, All the Time- Part II

I'm 18, i love EPCOT. Always have

I was kinda saying that tongue in cheek. I'm not too far removed from Scar's "new generation" myself. EPCOT is only three days younger than me, if anyone cares to figure that one out. I just found it a bit presumptuous to say that an entire generation would want another thrill ride, instead of a true sequel to the great work that was the original JII.

I'm sure there are tons of late teens, early 20s folks that love it. Mostly because if they had their first visits as kids, they would have been there in the late 80s/early 90's heyday.

In my case, I never rode the original. First learned of the old ride in the mid-90s but never got to Disney World until 2000 where I rage'd at the crappiness of JIYI. So I got into Imagination through second hand sources such as video and stuff and generally didn't mind JIIWF because it was basically Figment trolling Eric Idle and the lameness of the 2000 version of the ride for 7 minutes.

I think my comments were aimed at Scar's assumptions. I must quoted the wrong one, or i just don't think straight haha

Wrong answer. EPCOT's greatness transcends words.
So....true...!!:cry::cry::sohappy::sohappy:

:lookaroun

Before the name and logo change!

I was there in 91. The only things I remember were UoE and sombreros in Mexico and flashes of Dreamfinder/Figment.

Yep! :D From that first trip, I remeber Horizons, JII, and SSE. Brief flashes of TL...And most of WS. I remember being freaked by Illumi.

TLS and WoM Memories would come a year later.:D:eek:

I sorta remember Horizons and TLS....maybe SSE

SSE86 is very brief for me. I remember the finale screens and trying to sing along to Tomorrow's Child.:lol: That's about it. SSE94 Memories are much more prevalent and were built upon as time went on.

Horizons!? A TON!:D Floating in space, Verne, the Desert and the Orange smell...:D It was AWESOME.:D

TLS...We spent a TON of time in there in 2000. It was great.

The only things that are really fuzzy are WoM and UoE. For WoM I remember the ascent and the footsteps and the Centercore. UoE= Dinos. I guess they didn't have a effect on my like the others.

My mom always took my younger brother and I to Epcot Center for field trips because it was both educational and fun. We always spent the most time in Future World, where we always had to hit up Spaceship Earth, Horizons, Journey Into Imagination, World of Motion, Wonders of Life and The Land, mostly for Food Rocks. Really wasn't a fan of Universe of Energy, The Living Seas or Living With The Land because of it's really long line, but always had a great time. Although I do like a few of the changes made to Epcot over the years (Test Track, Soarin' Ellen's Energy Adventure), some changes were not improvements (Mission: Space, JIIwF/JIYI, the lack of an ending to SSE2008). In many ways Epcot has lost what made it so good originally. That can at least begin to be fixed with a drastic overhaul of the Imagination pavilion and a replacement for The Wonders of Life pavilion. Epcot needs some original flair again, because besides SSE, it severely lacks it.

Anyone have a photo of Walt Disney's idea EPCOT Center??? I'd love to see a picture of the concept or anything, or just of the model. If you have on thanks!

I saw this somewhere else to but you know we are always picking on the fact of update and change. Then they answer our plea and we get mad at them for it? Is this correct? I mean they had to update Horizons at some point, right. I think that We just want what we really don't care for, like a 2 year old. Yes I just offended everyone including myself. But 2 year olds also have a great imagination so who cares!

WoM was an omnimover dark ride with a vehicle similar in design to JII, except it was omnimover instead of in a train. Part of the ride went outdoors after the loading area and then into the history of transportation. It even included an effect like the hitchhiking ghosts at HM where your vehicle became a car of tomorrow. I really did like it, but have to admit that Test Track is better.

As for UoE, it was pretty much the same as it is now except not nearly as enjoyable. Ellen's Energy Adventure was a huge improvement in terms of entertainment value, as was Nemo to The Living Seas ride portion.

I always thought that The Living Seas was extremely boring as a kid.

As for SSE, I remember Cronkite as the narrator and it was very good. The thing I remember the most about that version was the giant green computer cube that you looked at as Tomorrow's Child started playing. Good times, but the Irons version was much better overall. I liked Cronkite better as a narrator, but the Irons version overall was better. The current one I still think is very good, but the script is geared towards 8 year olds and the lack of a real ending is disappointing.

I still like it though...

Speaking of those two, I always loved the intro movie for TLS, and the CoP tie in during Horizons!
