Its just too bad they cant follow through with something they started and finish it, SSE. Good thing about GFT and Nemo is at least they were completed whether one likes them or not (Except they do have the same lame story line, wheres nemo, wheres donald, uggg). Hmmm lets see, Imagination was a fiasco, TestTrack was an opening fiasco, SSE was a fiasco and still is.... whats their problem! Seems like Soarin was the only thing that took off right from the start in terms of new things/refurbs.

And Soarin could use a MAJOR upgrade to its image quality.

Speaking of image quality, WDW also needs to go with standard HD panels and source images for all of its queue monitors. Some of the image quality in the queues is really embarassing compared to what is cheaply available on the market.

Yes, yes it could. A nightly cleaning (or, at the very least, weekly cleaning) would be nice as well.

And out of curiosity, which monitors/attractions are you referring to as far as image qualtiy? I only ask because I really haven't noticed anything thats all that poor in quality.

And Toy Story Mania, and AIE.

AIE? really? Considering they are pretty much begging people to audition, I'd hardly call it a success.

As for TSM, it's a good ride, that is run incredibly poorly. Fastpass needs to be gotten rid of on the ride.

Test Track now has HD screens and the quality of the video is really grainy because it was filmed in SD.

SOARIN and Mission:Space come to mind. I don't believe either have HD monitors or HD source video in their queues.

I think we were talking about opening problems not operational problems after the ride open.

Are they cancelling AIE shows due to not enough performers? I hadn't heard that one before.

I only think they do upgrades like that during normal refurb schedules. Disney's greener now and doesn't want to contribute to the "waste stream" when it isn't necessary. :D

Ah, apologies, I misread that post.

As for AIE, it hasn't happened yet, but coming from a few CM friends that work there, they said it's come close, and they wouldn't be surprised if it happened in the near future.

The first half, yes. The second half, not so much.

Okay.

But how hard would it be to install HD monitors? They could probably do that overnight and not have to close the ride down at all. The quality of the source image could certainly be changed anytime without impacting the ride at all.

I think they have bigger issues they have to worry about. As an example they are part of the AIE pre-show. So when they refurb a ride they do stuff like that. It's always been that way.

Maybe they are holding out for the next generation LED screens also. Could be.

Can I add, though, that another character based change at EPCOT (Gran Fiesta Tour) sits a lot better with me than Living Seas with Nemo. Part of it is that I love to see Donald with his "own" ride, but part of it is that they also mostly respected the old ride, and the purpose of the ride hasn't changed too greatly (i.e. the ride still serves to promote Mexico).
The major flaws with Gran Fiesta Tour are
1.It does not really teach you much about Mexico and it follows the over-used "Someones gone missing" storyline.
2.The overreliance on video screens
3.The fact that in the first scene they did not even bother to make the sets match the screens. The ancient culture set's are still there while modern Mexico is on the screens. Major aesthetic clash.
I am not opposed to the idea of having Three Cabaleros in the ride after all the film was designed to teach people about Mexico and other South American countries which presents a 4th problem Jose' Carioca is from Brazil.

I don't disagree with your post but the video screens where there from the beginning. At least in this one they didn't add/expand them.

Agree bigtime, the entrance tunnel that use to have mist and mysterious black lit hieroglyphics walls in the dark, is now totally brightly lit due to the first screen, undone, and you can see the pipes and roofing above, again like the sse descent. They just dont get it.

I am aware of that however they replaced the finale carousel with another giant Video Screen the could have easily put AA's there.
