I can see it now;
CM: What is your name sir?
Father: Master.
CM: Okay, how about you, son?
Son: Bate.
:D
It sure works for the Universal employees.;)

Just to be on the record... it sounds like an awesome technology to employ, and hopefully for more than just tickets.

I could see the TTA getting retrofitted to have personalized futuristic advertisements that could be displayed in the tunnels you pass through that would use names of those in the cars. Nothing that is real life marketing, but for fun. It would sure liven up the empty corridors we pass through with extra theming.

First we had the Blue Sky Cellar, now we have the Vanilla Sky...

Besides interaction, EMH, and Fastpass distrubution, think of how Park management could be improved. Wait times would be more accurate and possibly integrated into the DS system that was tested last summer (or a nexgen system since the DS thing was shelved). Park management could manage park flow better if they know exactly where the congested areas are. Bonus FP's could be given out to try to move guests to less congested areas.

First off, great username. Second, I don't doubt for a second that the primary appeal of this for Disney is to monitor guest traffic patterns. If they have to install a few new animatronics and/or speakers to do so than so be it. I'm sure that there would be some form of GPS tracking on the Verizon application that is in the works for the park as well.

This involves a complete refurb of Fantasyland. New façades, new attraction interiors, new E-ticket (TLM). If approved, this will make DL's New Fantasyland truly look like it's from the 1980s.

Hmmmm...so it seems Disney is looking to renovate an existing area instead of building a new one to compete with HP at Universal. :drevil:

My understanding was the Universal was going to employ some technology in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter to allow cast members and/or guests to interact with the buildings/scenery/etc. Perhaps they will be utilizing a similar system? With regards to a Fantasyland makeover, I would love to see two rowed boats in Peter Pan.

Yeah I wondered what was going on. I thought either that or your WERE very enthused about it! :ROFLOL:
I am!:lol::lol:

(BTW, I personally don't have a problem with the Medieval Faire look of Fantasyland; we have the architecture at Epcot to make up for DL's Fantasyland. But I won't complain if ours looks more like a real village after this proposed renovation!)
Now THAT's what I like to hear.:D

Finally, we are seeing the beginnings of reparations that are going to follow HarryPotterLand. If Disney does this, beginning with a NEW FL for competition and promotion purposes, and then later the whole resort, they have something unique for guests and management.
I see a Win-Win here.:D

I'm going to go out on a limb here and give this a thumbs up.

Thumbs up also to Iger and his 2 trips to Florida.

Same, and same. I guess that's what he was here for a few weeks ago.

I don't like that technology.Everytime I ride ET he always says my name wrong. Then people laugh because they think my name actually sounds like that.Once I went I said my name was Va and My BFF said her name was Gina. They totes believed us.I dont mind this change actually.

Hard to imagine that this won't become pervasive pretty quickly. Once they get over the major hurdle/expense of deploying the infrastructure to distribute the tags to guests and the computer network to make it run, it should be relatively cheap/easy to incoporate the features into every refurbishment they do.

That's what they said about SKYNET. Next thing ya know, we'll all be freakin' robots...

we wont be freaking robots... we will be dead because the AAs would be networked by the MouseNet who deems us unworthy of going because we have APs and dont eat at the parks and only buy retro merch

meanwhile over at universal SkyNet will welcome us... only because it will have competition from MouseNet

RFIDs sound cool except when it comes to fantasyland charecters interacting with guests. That seems like a lame gimmick and would actually take me out of the experince.

Howevr, I do want them to go in and overhaul and retool all of the fantasyland rides to get them up to 21st century standards (or at least to the standard of the other Disney parks. WDW's fantasyland rides look like they were built in the 60s)

They best be implementing this into that eventual Imagination redo. Actually have Dreamfinder and Figment invite you into the Dreamport would be amazing.

Caution: There's a very big IF:

IF Iger and Lasseter stand up to Rasulo and insist the parks get the TLC and upgrades needed.

There was a lot of backstage drama to get DCA's budget approved; I can't imagine how WDW will get its money without similar ego issues. Then again, I'd love to be wrong about this! :)

This sounds vaguely reminiscent of the Itchy and Scratchy Land...."incident".

For all practical purposes, they were. The place opened in '71.

Imagine just walking by a fastpass machine and it spitting one at you without you expecting it.

From what I'm gathering...there would be no FastPass machines.

You'd walk through the FP entrance and it would tell you if you were eligible or not.

This "interaction" with the guests seems very familiar. Didn't some of the 100YOM pins interact with certain rides? I remember having some that blinked different colors when you went into different areas of attractions.

(For instance, blue lights in Test Track's cold room, red in the hot room, and yellow in the acid room). Red lights would beat like a heart in the attic of the HM. Stuff like that.

The pins didn't do THAT per say, but they did light up with ALL there colors at certain points in a ride or show.

Still do, from what I've told. I should really remember to bring one back to WDW and test it...

Didn't I read somewhere that there's potential for a I-Phone app for the bar code for airline tix...think just having a bar code/RFID app that you use your phone for everything. I'd grab it in a heart beat.

Actually there is an app that you can add your cards (like the ones used in gyms, supermarkets and stuff) and is so good to be able to have all that on your phone.

Also some parts of Japan and Europe you can go to vending machines send a text message and get whatever they sell and you either been charge to your phone or a credit card that you approved for this.

This can be a cool technology. and i can see Disney taking so much advantage of this. From birthay wishes to Anniversaries.

In other notes, i remember that Wet and Wild was going to use the same wrist bad technology so you could buy stuff and charge it to your credit card.
