If they were pricing VB like a rush job, that'd be one thing. But with a premium admission price, people are going to expect a lot. We'll see if it delivers.

Its the same rush job with the other recent ideas of fast and furious (was made towards the end of F7 production, Fallon didn't start until Jason Surrell left Disney and joined UC, and VB as above.) The only one that had a good lead on production time was Kong but it just wasn't executed well.

Oh, there's some very expensive IP rides proposed. If they all happen remains to be seen.

GMR and UoE shouldn't be canabaliased though obviously.
Would the Mickey Mouse ride really classify as an IP ride. I'm sure those plans have probably changed because that was an ACTUAL good idea, something current Imagineering don't seem to come up with too often. It's almost like classifying Splash as an IP ride, it technically is, BUT most of us don't look at it as one.

It's not a competition. I just want to point out that Disney Fans have ridiculous double standards and a visceral hatred of all things Universal that they don't even realize they have..
Because, even though you are unaware that you are doing it, you are judging everything by Disney's standards. Universal doesn't play by Disney's rules. And Disney fans really don't get that.
Sorry, but you are the one with and arguing for double standards. A set of standards for Disney and a different set for Universal is two, or double, the amount of a single set of standards that extend beyond just Disney and are plenty well understood throughout the variety of themed experiences.

Since this question was also brought up earlier....

Hey, that looks great. But, where are they building that? Because the wide shots make it look like it's being built in some suburban area with some untouched farmland and not next to a network of highways and high rises.

You might want to rewatch it again (despite that, my complaint was about the slides in general and not just the pipe ones)

Those are the naturally occurring purple and green lava flows.

That certainly explains a lot. Bad to lukewarm reception all around.

Jimmy Fallon I'm setting my expectations low. If it's at least funny and the facade looks great for the New York section it'll be a nice small addition for me.

Can't agree on Kong or VB. Kong has some flaws but overall I love it and VB looks like a great new addition to the resort :)

@Katie G yesterday in her best analytical tone was questioning Universal's business acumen in replacing the Curious George ball pit with a couple of Nintendo E Tickets. And she was serious. It's ridiculous.

It goes both ways man but most on these boards are pretty fair on both parks. Which is why I like this site better then the others. Sure you have your pixie dusters but that is ok as it is needed st times to off set the world is ending folks.

Universal has been doing a great job lately and those that really love the parks notice and say so. Both companies still have huge issues to resolve but both have some good stuff coming which is exciting for a change. It is just not one of them.

I just don't understand why it's a huge deal there are exposed water slides? Like who cares?

Everyone has different standards. I'm sure you have a complaint about something I'd roll my eyes at, but that doesn't mean I'd call you a pretentious snob for it.

My complaint was in reply to someone that said Typhoon Lagoon and BB were lesser themed. I disagreed and used the unthemed slides as an example

Funny you should mention that... After all, tons of very respected people question Disney's business acumen with replacing a petting zoo with Star Wars E-tickets. Different? Maybe, but at its basic element pretty much the same as a ball pit with an E ticket.

Despite the common belief: the Disney fandom that is represented on this board, NOT the pixie dusters who are becoming a rarer breed... are very cynical and seemingly apply it equally to Dis and Uni these days. The true Uni fandom hasn't quite let the cynicism sneak in yet, and internalize everything as an attack from pixie dusters rather than a Disney cynics' equal heavy hand. The pixie dusters will always dust away of course and problematically still are a gargantuan group of people, but those are best ignored.

This is a discussion I'd love to have. But it's too charged and the dusters from both sides rush out in force and ruin it very quickly. As is happening. Maybe in another 5-10 years.
