On the subject of Indy and Dinoland, it's probably best if it stays Dinoland, but Chester and Hester need to get axed. How old are they anyway, 90? (Or so the story goes). They're pretty much on their death bed, and I'm confident their children don't want to mange a crappy micro amusement park within a theme park. Jokes aside, the land should be thematic of prehistoric times. Maybe make the dunk institute the gateway to the past or something? And also, pterodactyl coaster into a volcano! Make it happen WDI!

I think more like...Indy, Adventure, Jungle, Animals... It really is not a far stretch... The entire park has an Adventure type theme... Feels about right. Maybe then we could get rid of Chester and Hester and do the Temple Du Peril coaster along with the retheme...then turn the rest into an archaeological dig site and village... It would work well I think... Of course it would fit Adventureland too, but Adventureland feels more like Piarates Land and Agrabah these days...
Agree, Indy is about exploration. Not just about "nazis".

I understand that, but I'm talking theming wise. How does Indiana Jones work in the nature focus of Animal Kingdom?

That's the only reason I brought it up. Re-theme from DINOSAUR. Since same track, use Indy. Beyond that, I have no desire to get into a debate about it.

Because DINOSAUR is already the same track as DL's Indy ride. If you retheme to Dinoland to S. Am., retheme DINOSAUR to Indy. The difference is that the DL ride is in India. I can imagine the Hovetos (sp?), piranhas, etc. in the ride. Add S. Am. animals as previously suggested.
Except Dinosaur deals with the extinct side of animals. Indy.... doesn't.

Back to a re-theme of Dinosaur to an Indy theme-

Dinosaur is constantly a 10-20 minute wait while Everest and Kilimanjaro (both of which are significantly higher throughput rides) have much longer queues every day. Meanwhile the other two Disney Indy EMV's are the star attractions with the longest queues at their respective parks. Dinosaur simply isn't up to the standards set by the other two EMV's even after this refurb. Most people here seem to come to a similar conclusion that Dinoland is hot garbage (which it is), that AK needs another continent with animal exhibits (they do) and that a South America re-theme for Dinoland is a great way to solve both issues.

Indiana Jones is an archaeologist who deals with the supernatural, it would not be a stretch AT ALL to see him looking for some sort of artifact in South America relating to animals or even Dinosaurs (similar to Everest). There's a thriving paleontology community in South America. I know wonks would lose their minds at mixing paleontology and archaeology but honestly most people are too simple minded to question or understand the differences anyway.

I've been wanting them to do this since before Chester & Hesters was even built. Heck, you could even keep most of the Dinoland stuff and have it be Sallah peddling Indys "artifacts" (cheap trinkets) in the stores and charging people to see/ride excavation equipment like Primeval Whirl. The boneyard could remain exactly the same. Besides Dinosaur itself, the rest of the land would only need a light re-theme.. Toss in a trail with some big cats, snakes, sloths and birds and you've actually got an excellent "new land".

Of course the other direction that would be easy to go is to make the area Australia. Plenty of dinosaur/paleontology stuff there and then Nemo would be appropriately located as well. It could still be an Indy theme based around some Australian artifact and you could still use the Sallah/excavator equipment overlay too.

Either way, I'd LOVE to see Indy find it's way to Dinosaur- but ONLY if it's a full fledged re-do to the Disneyland/TDS version and not some cheap overlay with 1/2 the theming (which sadly I could see happening).

"The Legislative Council’s Panel on Economic Development has passed a non-binding motion urging the government to postpone Hong Kong Disneyland’s HK$10.9 billion expansion plan."

"So also said that Hong Kong Disneyland would not be given exclusive rights to the two proposed new zones based around the Frozen movie and Marvel features, which are expected to be completed by 2023.

“Disneyland normally does not give an exclusive franchise of its major brands to one Disneyland Resort. But they will ensure every resort has its unique features and experiences,” So said."

"Pro-democracy lawmaker Claudia Mo said Hong Kong Disneyland was like a “state-owned enterprise” as it kept asking taxpayers to fund its commercial projects. She suggested that the Walt Disney Company bear the costs of the proposed expansion this time around.

Lawmaker Nathan Law of the Demosistō party questioned the government’s lack of justification for its continuous support for the theme park’s money-losing projects.

Lawmaker Ted Hui Chi-fung of the Democratic Party also asked why the park needed public funding for its operations. He said that it was “understandable” for the government to inject more funding than the Walt Disney Company into the park back in 1999 “because there was such a need,” but he said the government should consider reducing the proportion of its contribution from now on."

Political fun. I imagine eventually it will all just get pushed through, but it's still interesting how much hostility there is. I don't think Disney would care much if the park is allowed to just age and stagnate.

Their new focus is on Shanghai.

The wait was actually pretty high this weekend and before we go around saying "replace all of DinoLand with such and such," how about we ask instead for them to use the actual expansion pads the park has so it gets more to do which is very needed? The only thing in DinoLand that "needs to go" is Chester & Hester.

All rides vary. I've seen Everest a walk on and Dino using the exterior queue.

I can second this, since this happened on my last trip to AK. Dinosaur had a 40 minute wait while Everest had a 10 minute wait. All ride times vary depending on the route guests take in the park upon entry to the park. KS on the other hand always has a wait, usually because of fastpass+

Everest has double the throughput of Dinosaur, or triple if they're dealing with creepers or have a station closed on Dinosaur.

Once Pandora opens, if they turned Dinoland into an acceptable land then they'd have 4 excellent lands with an e-ticket anchor in each corner of the park. I really don't think AK needs to use any more land, they really just need to have people fan out beyond Africa and Asia. Camp Minnie/Mickey and Dinoland were/are the obvious areas of the parks that most people skipped or spent very little time in. Pandora solves one side, and maybe Dinoland/Dinosaur will be fixed on the other side.

Do people really find Dinosaur an acceptable e-ticket EMV though? It's probably the biggest waste of a great ride system this side of Antarctica over at Sea World. Guests never seem overly thrilled by the ride -I hear more negative comments than positive ones whenever I'm there. I personally HATE the attraction. I've probably done Kilimanjaro and Everest 20-30 times a year yet I have to drag myself to Dinosaur to do it once a year. Bad queue, bad preshow/story, dimly lit scenes with a few ferns and some impressive AA's. Not even a decent onride soundtrack despite Dinosaurs superb movie score! Instead I hear some idiot screaming and a computer voice narrating dinosaurs names into the speakers- ugh! I'd trade it all for a straight up clone of TDS's Indy even without their amazing queue (DL's fire effects wouldn't be cost effective and TDS's alternative effects are good anyway).
