As much as folks complain about WDI's creative soulessness, hi Joe!, their profond failure to build quality projects on a reasonable budget is the biggest problem they face.

The higher the cost, the higher the risk of the investment. When WDI says it's going to cost big bucks to do anything, than management is more likely to fall back on IP related aditions, because they see them as safer. It all ties together.

I wonder how soon before Guest Relations have a new word added to their vocabulary by Management...

'Kablam' could be the reason behind everything that isn't working from waiting excessively for ADRs to dirty bathrooms to out of place Upcharges that intrude on the theme...

Uh oh, looks like Hulk got mad and destroyed another ride. We'll call Iron Man right away to fix. Now here kid, have a Kablam sticker and shut up.

Kablam!

Yes, Joe Rohde, I think that ugly word is apt for what your overlords are forcing you to do in Anaheim, Hong Kong and all points in between where Disney has outposts:

I love the subtle digs Joe made in his comments. Not overt and they came across as enthusiasm for the projects. GotG being "almost an intrusion"? Square peg? "You make a choice and you do it". Brilliant stuff, if you read between the lines.

Disney is beyond concern with risk. Themed entertainment is viewed as a marketing medium, and therefore projects that do not market are pointless.

This will work well, Fire your on air talent the ones who draw eyeballs to your shows.

Yes college basketball is ESPN's big draw but what about the other 7 months of the year.

Service cuts and price increases yeah that will keep the viewers tuning in.

Pro Tip Disney. Sometimes the best deals are the ones you walk away from... like doubling your nut for Football and not getting a Super Bowl as part of the deal. Yeah Bob Goodell is laughing at you and your team for giving the NFL everything they wanted and you walked away with nothing. For crying out loud Fox got more games and a Super Bowl for a piddling 800 million compared to Disneys 1.4 billion nothingburger

What can Bob and Disney do to take the sting off of ESPN having it's problem? I surprised they don't have their own streaming service that shows all of their classic movies, ABC, sports and news that you can pay $$ each month like Netflexx.

BTW put the square bracket at the end of the QUOTE tag to fix post.

Disneys fundamental problem is they are CHEAP they are unwilling to invest long term. They should have bought Netflix ages ago because Disney has a vast back catalog which is going un monetized instead they market the hot items but don't do strategic investing in the next generation of products.

Heck I was afraid ATT was going to ruin direct TV. No they brought direct tv's portfolio to every mobile device on the planet. Along with upgrading the satellite platform.

Last Super Bowl that Disney-ABC aired was 2006 if I am not mistaken.

In other Star Wars related news Imperial Stormtroopers banned at Princeton

It appears DM's alma mater has lost their collective minds over a FANTASY universe You just can't make this stuff up.
Although this seems to be true, the Washington Times is a joke. I have never heard of this newspaper. Apparently it was started by the unification church by Rev. Sun Myung Moon to battle communism!

Crazy story in itself

And yet, Joe 'gotta keep my celeb designer paycheck' Rohde is the go-to man for Disney when they need a yes-man to force management's square pegs into the parks.
