In other DL news you can now have a 15,000 dollar meal in a 'converted apartment' near Club 33

http://www.latimes.com/business/la-fi-disney-dining-hall-20170131-story.html

I'd like to know whose apartment they converted for this cash grab.

Looks like the WDW disease is infecting DL now
It was the space proposed to be Walt's apartment, it was meant as a counterpart to his apartment above the firehouse but he died while it was under construction and it was left unfinished.

You joke, but how many people believe when the company says it is doing something and even puts out press releases and glossy art renderings (like the Matterhorn at three different WDW parks or like Hyperion Wharf ... or like a DVC resort where the Four Seasons sits just for just some quick examples) or when it says it isn't (GotG Tower in Anaheim and ... who knows where else)?

Fans want something official and they don't realize that companies change their minds and executives lie on the record.

To be fair, Star Wars is a bit bigger. Investors are probably looking more forward to the land than the guests are.

If it is a lie, I hope he's still CEO and gets called out for it. I mean, this is something that will for sure bring in lots of money, as if the parks don't already, so there's more reason for shareholders to be upset by a delay.

And the need for an expansion to the land on day one. At least DHS has their berm area to expand SWL.

These are thoughts and discussions that you can be sure have been held at Disney. I would not at all be surprised if this is even something Iger was consulted on (I am going to ask some people who might know!)

I do know that assuming he stays in office you are going to have some very ugly moments at that attraction (worse than the last two Presidents combined). I'm honestly not sure if I will even go into that show for my own reasons. But in O-Town ... you could have daily fistfights breaking out in there the way our nation is divided.

I'm not old enough to know, but what happened at the hall of presidents during Watergate?

EDIT : I see this was already brought up and addressed.

Ask any Wall St drone would they rather have $500 million in stock repurchases TODAY or 1 billion in 5 years. You will find they want the bucks TODAY which is why I expect Wall St to put the brakes on DHS SWL. Because Disney parks will already have one they don't need two because Wall St needs those dollars more than Disney

WDW will end up with the thematic charm of a late 80's strip mall.

It's already getting that vibe with Sunglass Hut Starbucks Haveneras. What's next Carl's Jr, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and KFC taking over the QS restaurants. Bonus to WDW those employees would not be CM's so no main gate passes or merch discounts

The ship has sailed. SWL is coming to DHS. If they were going to cancel it they would have done it before closing attractions, clearing land and starting construction. Unless you are predicting a catastrophic event that would halt theme park spending (9/11 size event) SWL is coming to DHS. By continuing to hang on to this conspiracy theory you are just getting Pam the Penguin excited that maybe they will still replace SWL with Carsland;)

You got the wrong decade. It was the 90s when McDonalds took over some QS locations at WDW;)

I don't have a problem with Sunglass Hut, it's sunny in FL and I broke my sunglasses on one trip and had trouble finding a place to get a new pair I actually liked. Now I know exactly where to go. I don't really like Starbucks personally, but WDW coffee was pretty average at best. For a lot of people Starbucks is an upgrade. Having a sampling of real life stores hasn't really negatively impacted my experience. Now if they could get better quality Disney branded stuff I'd be really happy.

The ability to collect rent with % of gross with no LMO? This would give Bob bigger wood than Willow.

Yeah I just don't see this happening considering all the progress that's been started in the swamps on this…

At least Carl's Jr. would taste better than that crap they claim to be hamburgers at QS places in WDW.

I think you misunderstand me, SWL is definitely coming SOMETIME to DHS It's just that I can't see Wall St allowing Disney to build TWO at the same time. Carsland is NEVER coming to WDW because it's DL's signature E-ticket at the moment. And I think JL fights to keep it that way.

The problem is they're already building two at the same time. Stopping one major build of this nature would tank their stock. Investors would see it as a sign of bad health and negative growth. They aren't stopping construction of either lands.

Disagree, Reducing the buybacks would tank the stock, Stopping construction in MCO on a single attraction could be spun any number of ways all of which would require on-site inspection to verify. My personal favorite in this case would be 'soil mechanics' requiring additional engineering study...
