Or, maybe Disney will fix the 2 parks that are suffering from lack of attractions (not so much Epcot as DHS) & give it some TLC! (see Epcot, DHS)
They're fixing each park. We know that Epcot is getting somewhere near $2 BILLION (so no one better complain that WDI didn't get good budgets, if it's screwed up that's purely on them) and DHS will be awesome once the construction is done.

I hope DHS feels more complete, I'm still skeptical... Obviously I'm excited for new additions but it'll be interesting to see how cohesive it is. Like when Pandora was added, I really stick by my opinion that it rounded out DAK almost perfectly. One or two more dark rides/family rides, a new Nemo show replacement, maybe a Dinoland redo, and that park would be pretty much perfect (obviously my opinion).

IMHO DHS still needs a phase 3 to complete the park. They are down to 4 actual rides now with GMR closing but will add 5 rides back (including 3 e-tickets) in a few years to get to 9 total rides or 10 If you add in Muppets (more of a show than a ride but since it runs continuously some don't consider it a show). Add in a few of the shows/exhibits and you can get to 12 to 15 overall attractions. I still think they need 1 additional "land" to round the park out. Maybe something in the Echo Lake area replacing the Indy show that would include an e-ticket headliner, a smaller ride and maybe a re-theme of Star Tours.

EPCOT needs a lot of work. Even with everything rumored there's still a need to do something with Imagination and general upkeep that's been deferred for years. I hope they spend some money on cleaning up the existing attractions and not just on adding new stuff.

A 5th gate would only be an option if attendance booms with the new stuff opening.

The new show Orca Encounter (which hasn't made its way to Orlando yet) is very bold. Imagine Disney replacing Nemo with a ride about fish... this is akin to that. No more Shamu, entertainers, and high-energy music... instead just a focus on the whale itself. They call it a "live documentary" and they aren't kidding.

@flynnibus , Unfortunately Blue Horizons has been replaced by a new show called "Dolphin Days." I haven't seen it.

What is a day at Discovery Cove actually like? I know it's the place where you swim with dolphins, but I just can't picture what the other 8 hours of the day are filled with.

Good question. There's a huge aviary, a pool with stingrays and fish (that you can snorkel in), a few other animals like otters, a lazy river, pools and beaches, unlimited breakfast, lunch, and snacks and drinks, all included. Swimming with a dolphin gets all the focus and photos, but it's not the entire experience. And of course the place is beautiful.

I find a relaxing day at the beach pretty unappealing, so I had the same concern as you before going. But I had an excellent time.

I don't see Nintendo being a draw on par with Harry Potter. It's much more popular than Avatar as an IP but I don't know if it's going to move the needle for them on attendance and especially on a 3rd gate. The games are popular but I just don't see people making a trip just to see it. Reading the books (or even just watching the movies) people dreamed of what it would be like to have a chance to explore Hogwarts or Diagon Alley or ride the Hogwarts Express. I don't know if people really dream of visiting the worlds of Mario Bros or Donkey Kong. Great games and popular characters but I'm still not sold on the epic appeal of the overall land. Maybe I'm just in the wrong demographic and people much younger find it more appealing. Pokémon means nothing to me.

Nintendo is so powerful as a brand that the announcement of Super Nintendo World in JAPAN was covered by most media in the world. Even Disney can't get that kind of coverage unless its a new park opening. The NES Classic also proved that its not just a nerd phenomenon as the NES Classic demand totally eclipsed what a "geek" product would command.

Last, remember the reaction the Japanese prime minister got when he popped out of the pipe a la Mario at the 2016 Olympic closing ceremony?

I found I-Drive 360 attractions to be a great diversion as well, I had low expectations for the Sea Life aquarium, but we really liked it! The wax museum was good fun and the Orlando eye gave a great view. We got a good deal on the Legoland passes so, figured we'd check all that out, highly recommend.
I enjoyed them too, surprisingly the eye wasn't my favorite

With all this 5th gate talk for Disney, does anyone think TDO has plans, even loose ideas for a 5th? Or are they just trying to get their "stuff" together before they even think about it?

No doubt the brand is popular (especially in Japan). Maybe I just missed it, but outside of theme park specific sites I didn't see a majority of main stream media covering the announcement for Japan. I'm sure someone will post links to various coverage to try to prove me wrong, but I'm not disputing it was covered by some, just not by most of the media. I'm sure it will get more press here when the land opens in FL. I could be wrong, but I thought NES classic was more of an advertising gimmick to get Nintendo's name back out there in anticipation of the switch coming out. They created demand by holding back supply (especially around the holidays) and cancelled the product while people still wanted it.

My hesitation with Nintendo is more with its application to a theme park. I'm curious to see how they create a physical world out of video game graphics and how the average public will react. Nintendo has a fanatical fan base that rivals mostly anything Disney has who will eat up every detail but I'm not sure it has the broad appeal of franchises like Harry Potter and Star Wars. Again, just my opinion. Time will tell.

I don't think we're getting a 5th gate. I just said that maybe the 3rd UNI park will force Disney to respond with a 5th gate.

I know I was just spitballing more or less, I honestly have no idea if a 5th gate is on their radar, but like you said who knows w/ a 3rd UNI gate?
