Universal's third park isn't doomed and Seaworld Orlando isn't closing.

Universal still hasn't utilized anything from Dreamworks nor have they included a lot of their other many companies/deals they have. Secondly, They have 475 acres of space to play with, VB biggest issues were capacity based not attraction based.

Seaworld Orlando is sustaining itself. Its not going to die off anytime soon as its adds on a cheap day.

*of note: Universal owns the Rankin Bass characters thanks to Dreamworks acquistion. Seaworld use may be going away.
*of note: Disney owns the Marvel characters thanks to Marvel acquisition. Universal use may be going away...OR NOT.

What is a day at Discovery Cove actually like? I know it's the place where you swim with dolphins, but I just can't picture what the other 8 hours of the day are filled with.

Eh. I don't entirely disagree that a third Uni gate would kill a lot of the SeaWorld attendance but I'm not quite there with seeing them suffering THAT much. Time will tell. I also don't think we're anywhere near close to Uni dropping a third gate.
They'll suffer from the one-two punch of both Disney and Universal. Rumor has it on OU that Uni wants the third gate open shortly after WDW's 50th. They'll have to start pretty soon if that's the case.

As much as I want Uni to grow, one of the great things about it is that much is in walking distance to each other. Not saying they shouldn't build a third park, I know they will eventually ... I personally can't see a new Uni park by 2021/2022. Give it a few years after that maybe. Do we have any Universal insiders who know of plans, have seen them and know of a timline?

Yes. They post on Orlando United which is where this info comes from.

They could just buy Sea World as their third gate. Why start from scratch when the bones of a really solid park are just sitting there waiting to be scooped up? Just add a Harry Potter Land to it and a few more more rides and Uni's got a pretty solid third gate.

Uni's already planning their own third gate. Plus, the price right now wouldn't justify it. You wait until they would be in total ruin and sell for dirt cheap.

And they're a reliable person? Sorry I don't go to OU. They've confirmed stuff before that's actually happened? It just seems like fan wishing to open the third gate around WDW's 50th.

I'd like to hear what the third gate would include for me to even remotely get excited for it because right now I'm not, lol. And while they build faster, at times, than Disney does, they're expected to erect a third gate in a few years from now? When it takes a couple years for just one land/attraction?

Yes they have otherwise I wouldn't follow them. They called the Dragon Challenge closing, Creature Technology making the Kong AA, the Hulk refurb, Jimmy Fallon, F&F, etc.

The big ones that everyone mentions that seem the most likely are Dreamworks and more Nintendo, namely Pokémon and The Legend of Zelda. Personally I think Zelda should go to IoA as a Lost Continent replacement so that there's a Nintendo area in each park.

I would assume any third gate would have a Harry Potter Land as one of its anchors. it's a proven winner. I would guess they would want to wait to see how Nintendo phase 1 goes over before making it the big draw of a 3rd gate. I don't doubt it will be a fun and extremely well done land but there's a big difference between well done and home run success that drives attendance...see Avatarland.

You think Nintendo has a possibility of not drawing huge crowds? When their newest system is so popular it's still sold out months later? When Mario as a character is just as recognizable as Mickey Mouse and is the face of the entire video game industry? When Pokémon is still a powerhouse brand that sells about 15 million copies with each brand new generation release and untold merchandise? When the latest Zelda is both a massive critical and commercial success?

Suuuuuuuuuuuure. It'll be like Avatar ;)

Just poking fun btw.

When it comes to Harry Potter I don't see what else they could do beyond Hogsmeade/Forbidden Forest and Diagon Alley. If they went with Ministry of Magic it would have to be in USF. Only thing I could think of for park #3 would be Fantastic Beasts.

I don't see Nintendo being a draw on par with Harry Potter. It's much more popular than Avatar as an IP but I don't know if it's going to move the needle for them on attendance and especially on a 3rd gate. The games are popular but I just don't see people making a trip just to see it. Reading the books (or even just watching the movies) people dreamed of what it would be like to have a chance to explore Hogwarts or Diagon Alley or ride the Hogwarts Express. I don't know if people really dream of visiting the worlds of Mario Bros or Donkey Kong. Great games and popular characters but I'm still not sold on the epic appeal of the overall land. Maybe I'm just in the wrong demographic and people much younger find it more appealing. Pokémon means nothing to me.

I've stopped playing Pokémon but I still see the massive appeal. I'm not saying the park would be all Nintendo. No one really knows what would be in it. The things I've listed just seem like very obvious choices including Dreamworks.
