I probably would go back for the animals but that's about it. Nothing else they have looks on par with what I'm used to attraction wise. Aren't DC tickets also very expensive?

Yes DC is expensive (and worth it), but increase the value by ensuring your take advantage of the other parks it gives you. Instead of seeing IASW for the 40th time, take 3-4 days and you can see all kinds of stuff you haven't seen before.

Spend a day at Seaworld - you will be entertained.
Spend a day at KSC - it's a world class museum/visitor site
Spend a day at Discovery Cove - the 'all inclusive' model will wake you up to just how bad the nickle-and-diming has gotten elsewhere. Forget crowds... and relax like you didn't know was possible in Orlando.
Eat Diner in Orlando - at restaurants that are 3x the experience that Disney TS offers these days. Go back to seaworld for a coaster run.
Spend a day at Aquatica - it's a great water park
Spend the evening at another attraction in Orlando - or head back to seaworld.

Discovery Cove is $270/head. KSC+Tour = $75/head. So for $345.. about the same cost as a 4 day Disney ticket... see 4 different experiences. And don't spend $400/night paying Disney premiums. Or do KSC on another trip.. and for sub $300, get 3+ days of solid entertainment.

I couldn't justify DC prices on their own.. but as the bundle price to fill out of a weekend+ of fun? It's easy. Seriously, Discovery Cove takes you back to how vacations used to feel.

Blue Horizon's show is awesome
The Pet show is fun
The dolphin feeding is great
The stingray pool is neat
Ride the coasters
Go in the fall and see their christmas setup

Visiting Seaworld is more like visiting your regional parks - but clean and better done. It's just not UNI or Disney anymore. Shows like Blue Horizon aren't matched anywhere.. even Disney. The whale stuff has scale, but is pretty neutered now.

I actually have been to Kennedy Space Center once but that was a long time ago and no one else wants to go. Regarding restaurants I don't even eat table service at Disney because I'm a cheapo. It's a once in a blue moon kind of thing. $270 for one day at Discovery Cove? Maybe when I'm rich I'll do it, lol.

Unfortunately the Blue Horizons show is gone! Such a shame, a show that combines the animals and acrobatics, is now a more toned down, educational experience. I like "edutainment" but not at the cost of something already good!! :(

For what you pay for QS at Disney you can have an amazing meal in town. Again don't think of $270 as for Discovery Cove.. think of it as $270 for a weekend or more of places to go. You can add Busch Gardens to that too for a small add-on too I believe.

It's not the trip I would make every year.. but I wouldn't discount it either. I don't know why people goto the same place so frequently honestly... I get it when you go to relax and get away... but the MK 2, 3, 5x a year? yuk

Well this year I've been to California as well where I hiked to the Griffith Observatory, saw a movie in the Chinese Theater, went on the Warner Bros. Studio Tour, and attended D23 for the first time. I do plenty of new things. It's also nice to do the old as well.

About the QS that's also more convenient than leaving to eat.

SW and Aquatica tickets are included with Discovery Cove packages.

Discovery Cove is the best experience in Orlando hands down. If anyone reading this has kids and hasn't taken them, please heed @flynnibus 's advice. You will not regret it!

I found I-Drive 360 attractions to be a great diversion as well, I had low expectations for the Sea Life aquarium, but we really liked it! The wax museum was good fun and the Orlando eye gave a great view. We got a good deal on the Legoland passes so, figured we'd check all that out, highly recommend.

We did the same thing! There's really not much to see from the Eye for non-theme park fans. But I thought it was great to see them all from the air.

We now have WDW, Legoland/I-Drive 360 and SeaWorld/Busch APs.

It sounds insane to have that many (At least for a non-blogger/lifestyler) but other than WDW, we got them while they were having big specials. Plus we had Silver WDW Aps for most of last year, so we were able to use the savings from that to branch out.

These threads regularly discuss many aspects of the theme park industry.

Do you think you could pull off a muscle top?

Yeah, they need to counter with an opposite bias.

I actually used this as an activity in my class. We watched Blackfish and then read through all the documentation SeaWorld retracted with--most ended up finding SeaWorld's response to be much more believable, and were surprised to feel that way after first watching Blackfish. The problem is I had to actively seek out the documentation and it was not very user friendly. My AP students were fine with it, but my other classes would have majorly struggled.

Nah, I'm a twig. I'm also not against their animal practices. I just see the writing on the wall.

Eh. I don't entirely disagree that a third Uni gate would kill a lot of the SeaWorld attendance but I'm not quite there with seeing them suffering THAT much. Time will tell. I also don't think we're anywhere near close to Uni dropping a third gate.

Universal's third park isn't doomed and Seaworld Orlando isn't closing.

Universal still hasn't utilized anything from Dreamworks nor have they included a lot of their other many companies/deals they have. Secondly, They have 475 acres of space to play with, VB biggest issues were capacity based not attraction based.

Seaworld Orlando is sustaining itself. Its not going to die off anytime soon as its adds on a cheap day.

*of note: Universal owns the Rankin Bass characters thanks to Dreamworks acquistion. Seaworld use may be going away.
