A Spirited Valentine ...

I went to MK on Monday AFTER DAK and when we left, after seeing the first Kiss Goodnight, the monorails and ferries were slammed! They should be running all three ferries, they were running two. To their credit, they were running 3-4 monorails on the express line. But they need trams going from MK to the T&TC like they used to. They also need a 4th ferry and MORE monorails! I love the SSL from a badass perspective, but from a leaving the park to go home perspective it sucks!

Yep, initial observations on attendance at the parks in Orlando was that Potter did more damage to Seaworld than WDW.

I could see that. Folks probably don't want to drop money on UNI and SeaWorld in addition to their WDW visit. So as a vacationer, their way more likely to go see what all the Potter buzz is about.

I think that's why SeaWorld is trying to focus on entertainment and food and wine type festivals to attract locals. Heck, we get great benefits with our SeaWorld APs. They actually seem to like local visitors.

Haven't decided if we will renew yet or not. We initially got them to supplement our WDW Silver pass during the summer blackout periods. But we just bumped back up to gold. We probably will though as I've said before, the Christmas offerings are fantastic.

Not to rub you the wrong way, but maybe if you go, you'll like it? You don't know there's nothing there for you. Just curious why you won't give it a shot.

Wild Arctic is one of my favorite attractions in Orlando. Better than Star Tours.
Are there rides there on the level of Disney or Universal's best? If not, yeah, nothing. I can see animals at Disney so that doesn't go in SeaWorld's favor either.
I know you really like UNI, so figured you were a coaster/thrill ride guy. And it seems that's what SeaWorld is doubling down on with their new additions. Obviously if you don't go because of an objection to their captive animal stuff, I'm not going to fight that battle as I fall somewhere in the middle.
I'm not a coaster/thrill guy and I've actually let my Uni AP expire this year. Nothing good opening until Harry Potter in 2019. Soon enough though the time will come when that pass never expires again. I'm not against SeaWorld's captive animals because I understand that you can't just release animals that were raised in captivity.
The 10pm closes at MK this summer are ridiculous. In the attempt to save labor hours they've been shuffling over to DAK, they've shut down their most popular park early nearly every night this summer, which leads to the significant ops problems as you've described.

HEA is extremely popular (and rightly so) and closing the park 45 minutes after it's over just shows they're not especially concerned with the nightmare that is getting out of the MK near closing time. Most summers see 11pm closes (or even midnight) which results in guests leaving at a more steady rate over a couple hour period. Not having a night parade is making the situation worse (people might stay a bit later if there was a parade to see at 10pm).
Getting out of DL at night was a breeze. I wonder why?

Gotcha. That's what I get for stereotyping the guy with the UNI avatar. I'd say SeaWorld's coasters are on par or slightly better than UNI's. But if it's themed dark rides you are looking for, they aren't anywhere near Disney Quality.

The recent entertainment offerings, however are on par with WDW in my opinion. I wish this month was the free guest pass month for APs as I'd invite you to go see the Electic Ocean shows. I think you might be impressed. Well, maybe not the bubble guy.

Do they not leave Main Street open for an hour after park close anymore? I'd be tempted to hang out in a shop and wait for the rush to go past then leave.

My avatar is due to excitement for Nintendo.

That space could've been used for a land that wasn't attached to a single intellectual property.

They are in financial trouble are they not?
Before they got Warner Brothers' Harry Potter and until Comcast came along, so was Uni. They were down in attendance around Seaworld's level. Maybe Disney could buy Seaworld, put in a couple lands from DisneySea and have a big Gondola to connect. Think how much crap we could talk about then.

And right now with the huge attractiveness of big IP in theme parks do you see something that can save SeaWorld like Harry Potter saved Uni?
