Behind the scenes video on Star Wars Land shown at today's panel. The immersion, detail, and commitment to the setting they're going with for this just makes Toy Story Land look all the more pathetic and that they aren't getting serious about adding capacity to the Studios park and considering the stupid "Replace GMR with Mickey" plan instead of an additional build is going to have some huge consequences.

Using software that automatically places your bid in the last 10 seconds of an ebay auction.

The virtual equivalent of holding up you paddle when the auctioneer finishes saying 'going three times'

I do it manually...in live time...right before an auction ends.
No software for me, I play it 'old school'.

I've had some exciting last minute rushes, but when you are there and can react immediately you 90% of the time win.

( why do I suddenly feel so diabolically evil now..? )
:devilish:

I hope we are never bidding against each other. If you are diabolically evil, so am I. If I really want something, I play the game in live time and usually win it.. Like a spider hiding in the wood work watching the bidding and then putting in a bid in the last 2 or so seconds.
No, I do not want the hat. I have a miniature figment by my chair keeping me company.

Ha ha..nice one, Mike.
No, I don't have any plans to go after this hat.

I already have my super cool 1982 mesh 'Figment' hat with his face and horns.
Might need to bring that to wear if they have a Epcot 35th panel....that will probably make me easy to spot in a crowd!

I'm totally open to meeting up with fellow posters here on the Forum at the Expo.
Should be fairly easy to find me in a crowd with my 'Baxterland' t-shirt on.

Great!!! I'll be the guy playing two player Mario Kart on his Nintendo Switch while waiting in the various lines

I'll also be wearing one of my WDW shirts (40th, Maelstrom, and/or AP 45th). Going to be there all three days probably :)

It can't be that they're blowing the whole budget on Star Wars, can it?

A roleplaying element where you can join either of the big two factions or do odd jobs for smugglers and pirates and forge your own identity as a Star Wars character.
An interactive Millennium Falcon ride where your input actually matters and will affect your reputation amongst the locals if you do well or really suck at it and make the hunk of junk a little junkier.
An emphasis on Alcatraz being the most ambitious ride Imagineering's tackled, though the panel didn't get too detailed
A streetmosphere population including incredibly detailed alien characters
Said streetmosphere including stunt show skirmishes breaking out in the streets or up on rooftops
Extensive collaboration with Lucasfilm probably driving up the budget as much as what Imagineering asks for already. Same design team working on the movies and stuff is involved with this land.

Yeah, Toy Story Land got even crappier for a reason.

If the stunt show is on the roof, its probably be the first thing cancelled (safety concerns as accidents do happen and nothing worse than a stunt guy falling on a kid or getting badly injured in front of a kid) as well as the reputation thing probably will go away. People who suck at flying and kids who get scolded for crashing may not be the happiest of campers when they get reminded they crashed the falcon as well as people in said group of riders who deal with people purposely crashing their falcons.

I am concerned about 50, no doubt. I wasn't thrilled about 40, although I felt young (and certainly looked younger than I do now), but was generally OK. (Again, though, most people here think I am 72, so it is all relative! And that woman in Italy who died today at 117 could have called a 90-something a snot-nosed kid!)

Your 50th truly sounds hellish and no, no one could tell from that hot pic of yours here! ... I think I told you privately once, but I thought that pic was of someone famous that you had put up. But the Hillbilly told me he met you at some point (2004ish?) and said that you were, indeed, well ... quite lovely in person and that was your photo.

I do feel like I am falling apart physically ... like perhaps I should be going for a run (or even a walk) now instead of posting here, but I have always said that the fan community would kill me!
I'm the same age as DLR.

Awesome! It would be great if WDW did this elsewhere too! I propose:

DHS: extensive streetmosphere on the boulevards
EPCOT: performers related to the countries rather than to cartoon IP in WS pavilions to immerse the audience
MK:
- interacting robots in Tomorrowland, even trashcans
- western streetmosphere in Frontierland, said streetmosphere including stunt show skirmishes breaking out in the streets or up on rooftops
DAK:
- freeroaming dinosaurs
- a streetmosphere population including incredibly detailed forest characters, covered in leafs and vines, stepping out from camouflaged position to perform

No, except Disney loses me along the way. I truly don't care much for SW or Marvel and Disney just is intent on shoving it down our throats and telling us that Rey and Chewie and BB8 and Thor and Hulk and Tony Stark are as much Disney as Mickey, Donald and Goofy and ... no, just not for me. But for the kids of today? Probably will turn that way.

Im really tired of Star Wars and Marvel characters being pushed as more Disney than 'Walt Disney'.

One of the things i like about the Marvel flicks are the Stan Lee cameos

Strange how WDW USED to have all those things .... is DiVine still around ??

Apparently she is but I never saw her on my AK day. I'm surprised they haven't cut her. But AK seems to be run by people who get it.

You mean you don't love the Frontierland Hoedown which is just a dance party for the children, instead of actual streetmospehere? They could accomplish some of this by putting a show back in the Diamond Horseshoe.

They cut Push. You really think they're going to go out of their way in Tomorrowland? But they should. Oh, wait, you can do the cuban shuffle or electric slide with The Incredibles and Frozone (not against the dance parties but I explain below why)

Adventureland feels dead. I guess any semblance of entertainment comes in the form of Captain Jack teaching the youngesters. It's all about the children, you know?

It's no wonder adults flock to Epcot's World Showcase and even Animal Kingdom has better entertainment. MK's entertainment is not very diverse and they keep cutting acts, like the Banjo Brothers. I do like the Muppets in Liberty Square though.

Main Street has the bare minimum. Disneyland has multiple bands and acts. Even DCA has a nice variety of acts.

The dance parties, while fun to some and I'm not actually against them, shouldn't come at the expense of meet and greets and other entertainment acts.

But I guess that's being negative and saying the sky is falling and the park will close?

If people think the kvetching is bad here you ought to check out the 'nibblers' whining about the snipers on the auction boards.

The nibblers say its not fair that a sniper strikes like a falcon at the last second and wins the item.

Hey its a perfectly fair way to win nothing says i have to telegraph how much im willing to pay in an auction i bid what the item is worth TO ME at the last second in both electronic and physical auctions

I generally win but there are times stuff is worth more to someone else and and a regular bid can beat mine if it was higher.

Nope its called realism, But all those acts like Push and the Banjo Brothers were the details which made Disney for lack of a better term Disney and their wholesale removal will hurt WDW at some point

But their children just love to dance with the characters!!

Look, I actually don't hate the dance parties, I'd like them a bit more out of the way, they're fun, sure, but they DO come at the expense of meet and greets and actual bands and acts.

and they're loud and take away from the ambiance.

Much like Move it Shake it ... that would probably be a character dance party too if the floats didn't exist. That's really what it is. And Nick and Judy tossed on a float was at the expense of having them be a meet and greet. But the parks should be able to afford to do all of that and still have the meet and greets and other acts. One shouldn't be cut at the expense of another. I know some will say that's not the case, but if it walks and talks like a duck ... it's a duck.

I dont object to the dance parties either but in addition to not instead of other entertainment and streetmosphere
