A Spirited Valentine ...

Age and wisdom, I like that! :)

But, no, you can't. And intelligent people of any age get that. My girlfriend never visited WDW until 13 years ago. She absolutely doesn't know what EPCOT Center or the Disney-MGM Studios felt like ... or the original Vacation Kingdom. She is one of the smartest people I know. She has read a lot about the history. She's watched some of @marni1971's videos. She's seen my photos and heard my stories. But you can't know what it felt like. And the WDW of the 21st century is not at all like the one of the 20th century.

You simply don't know what you don't know.

Thank You.

Awesome! It would be great if WDW did this elsewhere too! I propose:

DHS: extensive streetmosphere on the boulevards
EPCOT: performers related to the countries rather than to cartoon IP in WS pavilions to immerse the audience
MK:
- interacting robots in Tomorrowland, even trashcans
- western streetmosphere in Frontierland, said streetmosphere including stunt show skirmishes breaking out in the streets or up on rooftops
DAK:
- freeroaming dinosaurs
- a streetmosphere population including incredibly detailed forest characters, covered in leafs and vines, stepping out from camouflaged position to perform
We know from history now that free roaming dinosaurs in a theme park always ends bad, and now that they got rid of Shamu there's nobody to eat the bad guy:)

After seeing Animal Kingdom's pathetic roaming dinosaur option, and past foamhead costumes, I'd rather they didn't.

They can't pull Lucky out of storage but they can put a castmember in a ridiculously fake costume. At least they still let the Muppet Mobile Lab roam around Epcot. That collected dust for years.

So Disney is using avatar to drown out GotG outrage on the west coast and volcano bay o_O

Interestingly the local news station here in L.A. is talking about Star Wars Celebration and Star Wars Land. It is a strange time with so much opening. I'm really surprised Disney didn't hold GotG until next year. Seems confusing to be promoting Avatar, GotG, and a Star Wars trailer all at the same time. Does Disney parks have anything official planned for 2018?

I hope we are never bidding against each other. If you are diabolically evil, so am I. If I really want something, I play the game in live time and usually win it.. Like a spider hiding in the wood work watching the bidding and then putting in a bid in the last 2 or so seconds.
No, I do not want the hat. I have a miniature figment by my chair keeping me company.

Your technique is exactly like how I like to play the game.
It works great, doesn't it..?
:)

I tend to bid on small collectibles...rarely 'major stuff'.
Those in know are aware that the really cool 'collectibles' change hands privately.

Walt Disney World, Disneyland, Studios (Lucasfilm). Doesn't seem strange to me unless One Disney is coming back with a vengeance. The three don't need to get out of each other's way.

VB yes, GoTG no. They are still making a big fuss in the media about GoTG, they already had media previews in Feb, which is pretty atypical for an overlay. Unsurprisingly, Disney only sort of cares about our opinions.

I'd expect more foul play if Universal wasn't the one scrambling to finish and Pandora wasn't sitting practically ready to soft open today.

Ultimately a lot of noise coming from Orlando is better for both parks. I don't get why the media preview is the exact same day though, VB doesn't even look ready for it.

1. Not necessarily extensive but you still have The citizens of Hollywood roam and preforming on fhe streets.
2. As far as I know, all countries have at leat one entertainment option including musicians, dancing, stunts/acrobatics.
3. Nothing currently exists in Tomorrow Land
4. Frontier land still has the hoedown, no sunts though.
5. Are you talking about lucky ot those terrible dinosaur costumes they have, none are currently existing.
6. DiVine is still around.

My point is while things have been cut, streetmosphere still exists. It's not the ideal about but it is still there.

This article popped when I was searching Aulani, which only had one word, but led me to it. It's one of those classic write ups before land opening. It has some anecdotes of Avatar, Star Wars, and Harry Potter. Gary Goddard was swinging hard:

Also a nifty graph on the development of WDW which gives you perspective on when things were opened:

Well worth the read with quotes from Scott and Joe. Glad I stumbled on it! Also Chapek has everything all wrong about theme parks. Bleh.

Decent read, Goddard being a Universal Tool has been happening since the early 90's- nothing new there. He had the world convinced that IOA was going to flatten Disney. He also said DisneySea would be a flop.

The best part about that article was this:

Chapek looks like a used car salesman and sells like a snake oil salesman. Dangerous combo, and a huge ego to boot.

"What? Chapek has a huge ego? No way!", you say?
