A Spirited Perfect Ten

Unfortunately… None of our bothan spies have even come across anything that suggests it really could happen…

Nobody has heard anything other than one random obscure post by somebody I never heard of before… all of the usual suspects say it's not being discussed.
They most likely think Frostrom and a new Soarin' theater and movie is enough to keep the park going for years to come. Idiots.

And yet, the parks are still jammed full. Something isn't adding up.

When your numbers are otherwise growing, it can be harder to see the effect of all the guests who are fed up with declining quality, stagnant parks, and steep price hikes and thus take their vacation dollars and time elsewhere. But that cannot continue forever.

Not at all.
If he were wiser, he would have kept that kind of thing to himself.

No. People share their faith because of their wisdom, when they have their priorities straight.

I really don't get why people continue to go if they dislike WDW so much. I dont think I could sit around on the net and complain about how far downhill the place has gone and continue to spend my money there.

How many times does it have to be said that justified criticism and disappointment are not the same thing as "hate"?

You are critical of something when it means enough to you that you care what happens - pretty much the exact opposite of hate.

While I'm not in any way disagreeing with your criticism of Disney locking down MK for CM's the whole summer, I do want to point out that 5% is considered significant in many statistical models. You better believe if my evil insurance company saw a 5% change in sales in a month, I'm going to dig into the data to find out why.
However, some industrial engineer is applying 6 sigma and is reaching for a non paying/non CM entrance rate of <4ppm. Meaning if just 1 non paying/ non CM enters the park during the targeted time span, that is one too many.

But why spend your money at a place that doesn't meet your expectations? Would I like a new ride at WDW every year, Hell yes. But when the day comes where i don't enjoy myself I won't go. If the food and hotel and my time there makes me feel like i wasted my money, I won't go. That is my only question. TO each his or her own but I don't understand it.

Who said anything about hate?

We're just tired of Orlando paying for the mistakes made in Paris, Hong Kong and God forbid, Shanghai.

We don't get nice things because of poor decisions made elsewhere. And that's a valid criticism.

I think that's part of it, but they also seem to focus heavily on adding events like a Food and Wine and Flower and Garden. These events boost traffic significantly and they're positioned during slower periods.

Who said we don't enjoy ourselves? I enjoy every trip I take otherwise I wouldn't have updated my AP. Doesn't mean I don't also see problems and wish things were better than they are.

I'm not saying anyone's criticism isn't Valid. Opinions are what you hold to be true and who am I to argue with your opinion. I just don't see how anyone can criticize a place so much yet still spend their hard earned cash there or why you would want to. I have been going down there a long time and it feels like they pressed pause a long time ago. I also remember Disneyland being in terrible shape while WDW was getting a new ride every year or two. It's cyclical and will come back.

But if my next trip is terrible I will be staying away until things improve and that is where my question comes from. It's a premium trip that costs premium dollars for a product people feel is anything but. Would it not make more sense to vote with your feet and wallet? Sure more people are going to Universal, a place I have been going to since it opened and have gone to for 2 days on every trip since 2000, but I don't think that tells the whole story. The Mouse is still making money hand over fist and the current regime doesn't care what its customers think because they keep making huge profits.

I'm not here to offend anyone or say you are maroons for going, just asking a question.

I am going for two weeks. Most of the time will be at WDW with 2-3 days at Universal, a Day of shopping (lord help me and my wallet) Days at the pool, waterparks, time watching the animals outside our room, relaxing with our friends and family, going on rides, spending evenings in EPCOT, over at the boardwalk, watching fireworks, etc. We see some of our family once every couple of years and have some first timers and kids so to me 2 weeks isn't really overkill when you are in a place you really enjoy and a place where you can relax and be yourself and laugh and cry.

Now if I were as angry or upset or PO'd as some people here are, I wouldn't spend my time in Disney at all. I would take a cruise and spend a couple days before or after at Universal as I have in the past or go to an island for a week or fly over to Europe. I really don't get why people continue to go if they dislike WDW so much. I dont think I could sit around on the net and complain about how far downhill the place has gone and continue to spend my money there. I dont buy clothes at Old Navy because i know i will get a couple washes out of them at most. I don't eat at McDonalds anymore because the food tastes horrible to me.
Some of us actually DON'T fling money at them any longer.

with a name like Disneyhead'71 that is sad. Could you resist a big giant Star Wars land though? My fear for WDW is they may be losing out on the Potter generation. where do you think they will be taking their kids first? I have faith they will start building out again in the swamp and we will all be saying how great the new head honcho is.

I think what is being alluded to is the ridicule and contempt constantly hurled at Iger and the Board....it's a little much. Reminds me of the hate Eisner got towards the end...only much more vocal and bitter. I agree there are fair criticisms. Some I personally find more sensible than others. The snide comments and sarcastic tone is a bit much at times and does beg the question posed: If you feel so strongly, why continue to support the parks/company/brand? That said I enjoy reading everyone's thoughts, and refuse to put anyone on ignore.

I'm curious… Exactly what's here and game here? What are you trying to get out of this? Are you coming into an area of people who are discussing the theme parks, their management, and the corporate in economic outlooks of both and you're going to do… What exactly?

What kind of a reaction are you looking for? Are you looking for someone to sit here and curse you out? That's not going to happen… Mostly because the moderators of told me I need to knock that crap off. Are you looking for someone here to Pat you on the head and say "wow, you're right"… Because that's not going to happen either.

You going to the most popular thread on one of the most popular Disney fansites and you're going to criticize us for criticizing the company? Please… Let me show you the door…
